Great question. If it’s a source FamilySearch is identifying for you, you follow the process that I illustrated in the video. If it’s something that you identify that is not on that platform, you can save it to that individual as media and/or you can click the sources tab and on the top left click add source.
Family search has always seemed so complicated to me. I started a tree many years ago and gave up because I couldn't figure it out. I'd go back and find changes added that were wrong and just got frustrated. Your videos about using Family Search will give me more confidence about the proper way to correct mistakes and add to my tree confidently. Thanks Aimee!
Hi, Aimee, great video, thanks. You recommended putting your work somewhere than only inside the FS tree (ie, like Roots Magic). Is there a way to do that easily, or do you have to input into FS tree AND into Roots Magic? Thanks.
Great step by step video!! I just start my tree and so far going ok but my problem is printing the whole tree. I have tried landscape, portrait... and it doesn't print the whole tree. It only shows about 4 gens back whereas I have 7 gens on my tree. Any tips!!
Yeah, most programs can’t really fit more than four on a page. Unless you go to a specialty printer like Family Chartmasters. Usually what people do is just continue each line. Print a new pedigree chart or Family Tree for each line that goes further than the four generations.
I'm wondering about what to do when I make an error. Can you delete people you added to the tree, and/or delete people that were added on when you accepted existing branches into your tree? Sort of a restart...
I noticed that you didn’t add the reason you added the document to the person’s profile. I’ve been told that you should always add the reason and cite the source. I have noticed that a number of 1950 census records are hard to find, due to indexing errors. Do you know if FS is doing anything to try and identify those issues? Thanks
In all honestly I don’t always add a reason for attaching a record because the record seems self explanatory. But reasons are always good. 😊 You can add a note if an indexing error occurred on any record. You can do the same on Ancestry too. It then will be shown when someone searches that name.
@@AncestryAimee Ive ended up having to fix several 1950 census records for family members because they were not indexed by the AI correctly. The only reason I could find them was because I already knew where they lived but it would be alot harder to find them if they moved.
Yeah I've been watching your videos I've been trying to figure out how to use wiki trees so far none of your videos have helped y'all need to make it easier version that people can use that don't have a college education

Great question. Those programs and some others will connect so you can sync them which helps.
Thank you. This helped me remove a merge (previously made in error).
Glad it helped!

You can delete people that only you have touched or added. If someone else did you need to merge them or change their relationship.

I’ve had that happen too. So glad you could find them and fix them!!

I haven’t done a video on wiki trees. Good idea.
Who first invented the name "Family Tree"
That’s a terrific question. I don’t know. 🤷♀️
