When you really start to worry is when the gravel turns into 2 ruts with grass growing up the middle.

Took onions to Oregon out of Colorado they rebaged them and reloaded them, took them to Nevada where they unbagged them and rebaged and took them right back to Colorado where I loaded them. Yep trucking makes a lot of sense

GPS helped a 53 ft reefer fully loaded with frozen chicken avoid scales in Arkansas after loading at a processer. The road became narrow. The turns sharper. An down to a wide country road. Nowhere to turn around. Not enough room in the road to change your mind. And the bridge limit sign ahead on the one lane bridge was probably written in English instead of metric. Like the bridge you traveled across only caged on the top as well. Creeped firewood with the truck truck got onto the bridge truck and bridge and load dropped to the water below. You can find drone footage of the result.

I was south of Kansas City once on a dirt road between Merwyn, Mo., and Lacygne, Kansas, going to KCPL Plant and coming to a long bridge that said 5 Tons. I was empty with a 50-ton triaxle lowboy. I crossed and yes it was wood, I made it but figured my 37,000-pound truck may have been pushing the limits.

Did you time travel to a place back in time with gravel roads? Back in the 50’s my dad was somewhere up in Montana or Wyoming, fighting a snow storm, and passed a house that he did not think was “that close” to the highway in the past. All the trucks were following each other. Finally they all realized that they had left the highway a few miles back and were traveling through snow covered fields with no crops on them! Got straightened out and back on the main highway on short order, all turned out just fine. That is embarrassing! Stay safe!

hi Kurt at least you dont take your slef to seriously and can have a laught at yourself as well. Do you think you are the only one who has driven past a road you need to go down and out smarted your self when it goes bad. Never mind this is why we love life and what we do and how we can always try a new road from time to time. Keep on smiling and maybe one day you will find a bed of prickles as well to wake you up when bare footed.

I thought for a little while you were headed out west and trying too go around the scales I don’t know if they do it anymore but back in the day drivers used to run on farmers lanes and the farmers didn’t mind as long as you close the gates behind you. the worst place I found too take a wrong turn was pretty much anywhere in the state of Kentucky it is a beautiful state but you might have to drive 20 miles past dozens of horse ranches before you find a intersection or any place big enough too turn around. I have done it in a little small dirt church parking lot but you really have too watch for low power lines

Have a funny story. Back when Dad still had cattle truckywe went to pick up a load. We came to a little bridge so dad got went under it to inspect it. About that time Halliburton pumper came roaring along, two v12 Cummins engines with big pumps and all the tubing on board. The driver never lifted and crossed that bridge about 40 mph. Dad came out looking like a real dirtbag. Didn’t say a word just brushed off some and then finally said he guessed that bridge would hold I couldn’t stop laughing. I kidded him about that the rest of his long life. To be fair the bridge didn’t look that good. Y’all havagudun and stay safe.

It's nice to know there are truckers that know their height and weight restrictions. We get several here in Lancaster County, PA that either don't know them, ignore them, or say the GPS said to go this way. They are the drivers that try to drive through our covered bridges. The covered bridges are not made for trucks. We get several bridges damaged by those idiots. Those are the people that need their CDL's taken away.
