There's a fair amount of wear to the driver's front tire, I'd say tread's at -1/32. It should probably be replaced. The radiator cap seems to be missing. Have the shop get a replacement. The lights don't seem to be working on the rear. We'd better have the shop fix that. I believe there's a small dent up front. The body shop should see to that at the bi-monthly inspection. The exhaust is...there, but I think there's about 152 leaks. We should have the shop look into that soonest, for passenger safety. If the mechanics have time, they should source a seat for the front spare driver. Then, with some alignment work, this bus should be ready to go...oh yes, and we'll need some windows.

You can fake everything but beware the consequences. But here you maybe drive very fast on the Autobahn and you don't want an inside exploding windshield while driving 😅 Most of the repaircosts is included in many over the minimum insurances. So little excuses.

The old generation engines are just built different,my father currently owns a truck with a 1978 Toyota B engine, still runs great even when hauling over 2,000kg loads...... those old diesels are fuckin immortal 😂

Amazing how it will still run fine , over in the developed world if it puffs out a tiny bit of smoke then it is written off . Saw a similar vid with a Bedford TK being driven by a nearly blind man and his son had to tell him, "left , ....right a bit 😆" and hold on to the gear lever. It was knackered and smoked like hell ... BUT it still ran !
The OM616/617 diesel engines on these things are practically bulletproof, the same engines are used on W123 Mercedes sedans which are still widely used as taxis and personal cars in Africa.

This car was already very worn when it was shipped to Africa all those years ago. The engine has been "refurbished"(maybe several times already?). The cabin etc. has NOT been refurbished that might be clear 😉😉

They really should use antifreeze / coolant because not only does it stop the engine block freezing , it also lowers the coolant temperature whilst running . Particularly useful in a hot climate .

Old engines without electronics, especially those diesel one with mechanical pump and injector are indestructible. There is literally zero wiring. Not electronics, wiring. Just 2 cables to the starter motor, that's it. Today's cars, engine and ecus are destinated to fail. If they reach 20years is already a good thing. After the 20y everythign will start to fail. And you can't rebuilt an ecu. Even the wiring with time start to degrade and lose connection. Just 1 signal cable broken and the car doesn't even start. All the sensors ecc, those vehicles can't drive in Africa. I'm more curios to see what they're going to do with the new junk we will sent there. Petrol cars can be converted with a carburator and distributor. And bye bye electronics. Commonrail diesel engine require timed pressurized fuel, it's a bit harder to convert them with a mechanical pump/injector.
