If you think you can scratch it then you remove the metalic things you wear so you be safe from doing any damage to someone's vehicle. You can scratch a vehicle even with a nice towel that has a minimum contamination of a particle that you didn't notice it was there, even when polishing you can marr a vehicle because of contaminated pad. Always just do it in the safest manner by inspecting your tools, chemicals, media.
