What the Last Alliance did was literally fighting on Hell's front porch. Can you imagine how hard is it to fight in such a barren wasteland? No fresh water, dust making breathing (and fighting) harder, the stench of sulfur and the reek of Orc filth, and the heat of an erupting volcano...

Great video! Love that artwork of Gil-Galad and Elendil fighting Sauron. A couple things though: 1) Treebeard said that the Entwives Gardens were destroyed around the time of the war of Sauron against the Men of the Sea. This implies Sauron laid waste to the Brownlands sometime before the downfall of Numenor. 2) Elrond says that all peoples were divided that day and could be found in either host even unto birds and beasts, this implies that there were evil dwarves fighting for Sauron, and also ents probably took part too 3) the Siege of Barad-due lasted 7 years and Anarion was crushed by a falling stone while trying to take the gates with a mighty battering ram, and the first crown of Gondor was destroyed. The fact that the defenders were throwing stones means they were getting desperate. Probably Sauron decided to sally out of his fortress because the Orcs were starving.

Respect to Anárion and Gondor. They held off the forces of Mordor for several years while the alliance marched South and then re-took Minas Ithil. Such a shame that he was killed. Who knows how events might have changed after the war?
I think Anarion, similar to Faramir, would not blame his brother, but be wary of the ring, taking news of the event to his elven allies. Anarion represents the Sun, so I think he would be a lot more open about the ring to the high ranking lords and the wise than Isildur was. Isildur represents the Moon, and without the Sun, the moon cannot shine. This symbolism is why I think Isildur died, but the sun shines brilliantly on its allies, inspiring them, and this is why I think Anarion would succeed where his brother failed.
Oh my! I am utterly grateful for you support, that was very generous! I have noticed your names on many videos Marc, thank you for your appreciation! I will not disapoint you!
Oh I'm so glad how the fight between the Gil Galad, Elendil and Sauron is pictured. This is something I really don't like about the movies - that Isildur just randomly cut off the Ring... Gil Galad & Elendil defeated Sauron but both perished in the attempt. Isildur "just" came to defeated Dark Lord and cut off the Ring.
Glad you liked it! I feel like this portrayal is way more intense; the consumption of Gil-Galad is so terrible. Consider checking out the print on teespring, it makes a great poster on the wall!

I really love the Medieval II mod used for the cutscenes. I think it is Third Age Reforged, right? Anyway, still my favourite mod, and quite a lovely addition that can bring these battles to life
You know what's most tragic in the aftermath of this war. After fighting so hard for 7 years, after all they have sacrificed in order to defeat Sauron for good, it was all in vain. Many Elves, Dwarves and Men lost their lives including their kings and it meant nothing because Isildur couldn't bring himself to destroy the ring, only for him to lose his life later on and Sauron ends up returning in the third age to continue his conquest for middle-earth
It wasn't in vain. If they didn't stop Sauron here, there would have been no chance for the Fellowship to defeat Sauron once and for all despite Isildur's folly.
@@LordVader1094 In the third age Gondor was weak and Arnor was a ruined kingdom, they weren't as powerful as they used to be, the time of elves was coming to an end with many of them sailing to the west and the dwarves only cared about protecting their own riches caring little about what troubles people were dealing with. Meanwhile Sauron had a very large army and was launching an attack at a time when there was weakness everywhere. Which is why I say that all the sacrifices that were made in the war of the last alliance were for nothing, all they gained was a temporary victory but eventually Sauron was going to return because Isildur couldn't bring himself to destroy the ring. Sauron would've won the war if Eru hadn't intervened and caused Gollum to fall into mount doom with the ring, I'd say everyone was lucky that day.
It was not in vain, at least not according to Elrond. Middle-earth enjoyed centuries of peace and prosperity where the kingdoms of Arnor and Gondor flowered. It was beyond any will, even Sauron’s to willfully destroy the Ring.
@@LoreOfTheRingsYT fair enough I’ve always found the 2nd age the most interesting mostly because we don’t know much about it I hope the lotr show does it justice

Seriously, this is a rare instance where the Narnia movies did a better job in making the battles engaging.
i just wanted to ask what medieval2 total war mod did you use the this video i already know about third age but i looks different from the usual third age units and their weapons and their faction but i heard recently that about third age divide and conquer so is it that you use in your video?
I only recently realized that Sauron used his hands as a weapon, not a Mace as seen in the films. Makes so much sense as to how he got the One Ring cut off so easily.
Thing I’ve always wondered did Sauron leave the ring when he “fought” Ar Pharazon, cause otherwise it surely would have been lost at sea with numenor and he wouldn’t have had it during the war of the last alliance
Thank you! Great question. We know that Herumor and Fuinur led the Haradrim at the end of the Second Age, and that they likely came to Sauron's calling. Its assumed they participated in the War.
Dang, it's been years since I read this story. I could have sworn that Gil-Galad died in the Black Marshes, not on Mt. Doom. I better get to cracking some spines!
It's said that he was slain in the first assault upon Mordor. Its assumed that this was the Morannon, as Dagorlad is not Mordor. It was Amdír that was decimated in the place that became known as the Dead Marshes. Its vague though!

Great video as all ways love learning more about middle earth and you inspired me to make my own channel not about the lore yet lol
That's dope! What do you make videos about?
@@LoreOfTheRingsYT atm just a modded skyrim play through until I have more time to do other stuff
@@warden4050 Interesting! There's still a market for lotr lore!
@@LoreOfTheRingsYT yep sadly I don't have the time yet
i just wanted to ask what medieval2 total war mod did you use the this video i already know about third age but i looks different from the usual third age units and their weapons and their faction but i heard recently that about third age divide and conquer so is it that you use in your video?
DCI War of the Last Alliance mod :)
@@LoreOfTheRingsYT oh thank you mellon and Sorry for the late reply
I only recently realized that Sauron used his hands as a weapon, not a Mace as seen in the films.
Makes so much sense as to how he got the One Ring cut off so easily.
It really portrays how terrifying he was!
Man I love this guys videos
So Sauron made the men sail to their deaths basically, pretty clever
Who knows? But it seems to be the case!
@G E T R E K T yeah almost on par with order 66 which the way palpentine rose to power and played both sides
Probably the best plot I’ve ever heard of
Man... Sauron depiction here is so weird and terrifying at the same time. And i love it!
Great to hear that! Tom is very skilled!
@@LoreOfTheRingsYT Do you have a plan to include lore accurate Mumakil and Haradrim in your next video?
@@auradzrts691 Whenever I will cover them, I certainly will. I will stay consistent with Tolkien's lore!
@@LoreOfTheRingsYT Yes, I'll wait for that.
Thing I’ve always wondered did Sauron leave the ring when he “fought” Ar Pharazon, cause otherwise it surely would have been lost at sea with numenor and he wouldn’t have had it during the war of the last alliance
This matter is somewhat conflicting. Tolkien states that he had the Ring in Númenor, but the Tolkien professor state the opposite
Hoping this event becomes a movie or a tv series.
I hope it makes its appereance in Amazon's show
@@LoreOfTheRingsYT hopefully, I think its better for a TV series than a movie, but I'm thinking the budget in case it shows in the TV.
Nice job!
Thanks!
Great job, well done. I have one qustion, why you set Herumor in Umbar and why Herumor and Fuinur lead attack on Gondor?
Thank you! Great question. We know that Herumor and Fuinur led the Haradrim at the end of the Second Age, and that they likely came to Sauron's calling. Its assumed they participated in the War.
Bro this third age Footage from 2006 medieval 2 still looks so crisp omg i am such a nerd
11:16 Where is this artwork from?
Beautiful story! poor king Ororfer, Gil Galad, Anarion and Elendil. But the victory wasn't fruitless, it's just, not complete.
God I look forward to Everytime you post
Thank you!
Dang, it's been years since I read this story. I could have sworn that Gil-Galad died in the Black Marshes, not on Mt. Doom. I better get to cracking some spines!
Didn't Oropher charge first at the battle of Dagorlad? His forces got decimated, which is how the dead marshes came to be.
It's said that he was slain in the first assault upon Mordor. Its assumed that this was the Morannon, as Dagorlad is not Mordor. It was Amdír that was decimated in the place that became known as the Dead Marshes. Its vague though!
Way cool video! Love it and you accent! Killer dude!
Thank you! Love comments like this!!
