You are not alone,
2020 LNU Fire Northern California, my parents’ ranch was in the crosshairs of that massive fire. Fire came through in the middle of the night, and we were completely on our own. Fortunately, we were prepared. We maintained a defensible space around the property throughout the year, kept flammable objects, plants, and weeds away from the barns and houses, pre-located our hoses and sprinklers in vulnerable spots, kept our well running with a generator knowing the power was going to be shut off, and we had an old fire truck with a water tank and pump. We were told to evacuate over the phone but we were comfortable with everything we’ve done to protect our home. And we did, nothing was lost. Most of our neighbors lost everything from their home, barns, animals, cars etc. Preparation is everything and you can’t rely on anyone else but yourself.
"I'm not gay, I'm a thespian." lol, love this guy.
It does explain an awful lot. lol
West Coast men run into that situation regularly.
Cody is the best, to funny!
I laughed so hard

That view from your property is absolutely phenomenal.
I agree.
Do you know what mountain that is?
It’s fuji mtn. And yes there is a Fuji mtn in Oregon not to be confused with Mt Fuji in Japan
No shame in your royal academy training. I’ve got a couple thespians who live down the road. They drive a Subaru, wear lots of flannel, pretty solid dudes.
drive a subaru.... we already knew ROFL
I'll bet it's a Forester.
Brother your trolling has reached legendary status. - An East Coast Man
Can't fool me. I know a kid playin' in the sprinklers on a hot day when I see one.
I am literally deployed doing structure protection right now in bc. Watching this on lunch break. Great advice
Hard to pay attention when Mt Fuji's looking so handsome in the background! Beautiful shots, and an interesting product!
FR, FR, the view is insane!
It’s mount St Hellen’s I’m pretty sure lmfao. He says Mount Fuji because people always comment saying that, which is kinda obscure considering where mount Fuji is located. Unless you already knew this and I’m dying your joke.

This is one of the most hilarious episodes of the channel. Came here years ago for some great Benchmade 940 info...stayed for the spirit, knowledge, wisdom, and humor.
Same!!
As an Englishman i appreciate your fastidious attention to detail and dance moves
That's a great little system. I did similar when we had the fire near my house (fireline got within 300 yards); I put standard tripod sprinklers on the roof with the feet in the gutters and had the roof, gutters (which had dry vegetation in them), wood porches/decks, and about 20 feet around the house soaked.
After that, I ended up picking up some sprinkler heads with zinc spikes that had integrated pass-through connections so I can make an around-the-house line if I want. They were super cheap at Wally-World.
The shot of the cabin and Mt.Fuji over the trees is simply amazing.
I am far from a lady... but none the less I am still impressed with your hose throwing abilities😅
Here's to you and your family! 🙏 I pray that all defenses worked and the fire didn't impact too much.
east coast man - Move the Y to the base of the sprinkler head and you have a pass through head. the valves on the Y allow you to tune pressure (throw distance) for each head.
The jokes and references... this one was gold! haha
You should talk some about the firewise landscaping that has been showing up recently. It usually boils down to nice gravel or stone paths and for people who want ornamental plants, ornamental plants that don't burn well and spread slowly. Having a nice garden can save your house along with all sprayers and keeping watch.
Those sprayer heads are a cool idea, but they're meant to be mounted vertically. Your angled fascia prevents them from rotating 360 degrees. That's why they kept spraying you in the face. If you put a small block on the fascia with an angle cut on it so that you get a vertical surface for the sprinkler head then the head can rotate as intended. That way you could run the sprinkler in 360 degrees and protect the ground near the house as well as the roof.

Canadian Rocky Mountain Man would put those sprinklers at the peaks on the fascia of each gable end. Leave the sprinkler to go all the way around, then it only has to reach half of the distance of the roof and the water will rain down from the roof, surrounding the building with a shower of water, and increasing the humidity around the building.
Thank you.
From Texas.

I'm a newer viewer, really like your channel and the view at your homestead is just beautiful.
Good homeowner hacks May even use it to cool the house in summer too🤙🏼🤙🏼

Nice to see Mt Fuji in the background. Summited it this last Saturday! What a beautiful area it is down there.
As an East coast man I'd say your blowing was proficient. Keep up the good work

Good use of those Eco Flow power units to keep those well pumps running in a time of need.
What a gorgeouse mountain view!

You got me. I actually thought for a second that you were a dancer. Master Proho troller. Just awesome.
Cool ideas. I'll keep this in mind if I ever find myself living in a fire prone area.
The sprinklers from Alpine are a great looking system. There is another sprinkler system from WASP. One thing you can do is to loop the water supply to equal the supply to all the sprinklers.
Man is living the dream in many, many ways….
In Oklahoma we used to use sprinklers on the roof to cool our homes in the afternoons with the benefit of this being available for prairie/grass fires.
This is right up there as one of the funniest videos you’ve ever made. 😂
God bless the Basement Savers.
Had flashbacks to paving and hauling around garden hoses to fill the rollers 😂
Cody wrestling that little sprinkler made me week😂
The music choice at 3:20 is PHENOMENAL
As an East Coast man, if I had a semi remote cabin and it was that close to a flowing irrigation ditch, I would probably bury a section of 36 inch concrete pipe for a bit of a reservoir in case I ever ran into a situation where I needed to run a pump
4:27 another reason for this is the threads on the male end of the hose are protected
WE'LL DO IT LIVE. Great reference Cody
Awesome Video!! I love the information!! And the West Coast Man! 🤣 🤣 🤣 👍🏻👍🏻
Looks like a great product! Could you put a t piece before it to act as a pass through? A similar system saved a friend's property from burning down in the 2007 bushfires. The metal water tank next to the house that fed the pump melted down the water level but it saved the house.
Another learning opportunity today, thanks
I was just looking at these! Great video timing!
East Coast Man references are great!! lol
Gary Oldman's best role.
Awesome, will get 4 for my house and the elderly neighbor
Must be nice to be GIVEN EVERYTHING
Thanks. Always enjoy your videos. God bless.
So many hilarious one liners today bud
The view! Wow.
I, fortunately, have gravity fed water ... it's higher pressure than the house well water that is pumped. The irrigation water is primary water ... comes from a spring and free of debris so no filter needed.
I did get 5 sprinklers that are flow through and have quick connectors now I need some of that 'toy' hose.
Thank you for your insight into the prevention of fire destroying property. Yesterday a forrest fire happened just down the Columbia valley BC from here ... not threaten us but it rained this morning so everything is covered in soot -- I'm hosing the foliage in the garden now thinking the plants won't be able to photosynthesis if they're covered in soot.
Cool solution. I think I would go with two per side so I don't have to fiddle with it or worry about wind.
Gunna have to get a few for the house n the barns for sure.
Great video, and teaching, Love you Brother😊
“Alright so there’s a learning curve “ 😂😂😂😂😂

Here in Finland we use snow stoppers, so our gutters are protected.
Can you elaborate on what a snow stopper?

@hoopstar6043 thank you for the information
BC too
Thank you for the knowledge i had no idea about fire prevention
I LOVE living in the PNW it's so beautiful
Thanks, Wranglerstar 👍
I had a goodyear last almost 20 years in florida.
You can put the spike type sprinklers in a pipe shoved into the ground, tied or wired to a fence post or clothes line post.
Cody, you could add a T-fitting to that sprinkler and get the pass through feature you mentioned.
Bonus points for comedic value today :)
Tim on Moonshiners was the fire chief they would build a swimming pool and have the tanker truck refill it untill the house fire stops !
I like these vids Cody where people send you stuff
Hi Cody, I really enjoy your video's! We love seeing sweet loaf and your wife and Jack! Wish you would show more of them. I realize you often Joke about East Coast men, I know some folks do not see the humor in that, but a lot of folks take offense if you ever Mention the fact that IF not for the East Coast men the West Coast men would have never been! I guess that is one for the road...
sorry Cody but I laughed hard when the sprinkler nailed you right in the face.
LOL. Got in an argument with a sprinkler. And lost. 🤣🤣
An ecoflow delta (any model delta series) with panels and electric 120v well pump are also a good option, at least the larger portable units (not river series, etc). I already have several set up in various places to water crops so we don't have to run electrical all over 5 acres. Also great to set up in the back of a side by side with a tank to get to anywhere.
I will give Goodyear rubber hoses in a plus
Would love to see a video on larger trash pumps powering garden hoses. I can’t get any pressure with mine unless I use the 2” factory hose.
Lol, Wranglerstar I love your barefooted lifestyle, we just can't do that here in SW Texas, well unless you want bloody nubs on the end of your legs! 😂
The West Coast Man against the East Coast Man: one blows better than the other 🎉 hilarious Cody simply hilarious my beloved Thespian 😂😂😂
i think the best place for the two sprinkler is the front and the rear gable
excellent video; thank you!
This may have been covered in previous videos, but why not have a metal roof on this cabin instead of asphalt shingles being in wildland fire territory?
I'm not a firefighter and no mountain man. But, I think at the point asphalt starts to boil (>525°C or 977 °F), a steel roof wouldn't make a significant difference. Remember, ignition temperature for wood is about 400°C (752°F)
I’ve not math’d the science but I’m pretty sure corrugated metal roofing doesn’t burn as easily as asphalt shingles over a layer of tar paper and other things which like to burn
Great video, oh thespian!😅
Pass through would be a good option but you can get you a 3/4" brass hose tee from the garden section or 3/4" tee and x3 3/4" NPT by hose adapters.
To be free is to be prepared.
Good video !
What about a metal roof, with a wooden cabin? Same concept, but change the water flow to hit the wooden walls? Thanks. Great video
Cody, I think if you mounted one sprinkler at the peak on each gable end and they rotated 360 degrees constantly you would have coverage over the cabin and beyond covering the immediate ground surrounding. Just a thought, plus I did enjoy you taking a soaking so a do over wouldn't be the worst for another video ha. God Bless from Scotland.
little pump with the little gas tank cracked me up. - I have a two inch pump by the river with a large enough fuel tank feeding the Honda engine to run about 8-10 hours. One sprinkler on the each end of the house at the peaks, one on the detached garage & the ability to add three more hose line & run a 1 1/2 fire hose. No need to get on the roof, can make all connections at ground level. Hope it is never needed.
Haven't laughed so hard on one of your videos, THANK YOU! What about a small triangle block on the facia mount so that you have it angled direct to the ridge line of the roof? good thinking with the sprinklers, another idea, just a hose with holes across the ridge and have it bleed water over the roof?
Hardest I've laughed all day. The opps are always projecting bro.
Always
Good, Thx
If the brackets were moved to the top of the gable end 2 sprinklers would cover that size roof really well,
Looks like you might be able to install a Y or T adaptor onto the sprinkler.
It's not a perfect pass through, but will allow daisy chaining.
You could hard wire them with tubing and have a conector at ground level ready to hook up. Of course winter contingency should be built in
Wow what a view
Could you change out the connector on the Sprinklers with a T to get the in and out, you have with the base mounted one?
All good info. 👍
