@@naycnay I had only seen the word "submariner" in WWII books until I met my grandfather, a Royal Navy WWII submariner and heard him pronounce the word. Then I saw the "U-571" movie and got annoyed when the Americans were saying "submarine-er". But English is not @NikolausHirsch first language, so he gets a pass.
