    Im just starting my rebuild and this guide and video set are superb, ive watched the entire thing but one thing I missed is the piston oil spray jets, did you remove them? I cant find the torque spec for them, any idea?

    • @moosedroppings
      @moosedroppings  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, we did pull those out, either a 10 or 8 mm I think. I did hand tight on those, but next time I am in VIDA I will pull and post the spec, glad you're enjoying, there are still 2-4 more videos in the series coming up, the head is back off at machining currently addressing some issues that were missed on the first pass, but hopefully we are up and running in a week or two and moving on the more performance upgrade videos for this car... brake upgrade, more custom electronics, more custom interior.... stay tuned,

      @@moosedroppings Thanks Joel, Yes 10mm almost same bolt as the water pump, im gonna use thread lock on them though. Another thing I just realised I overlooked is I didnt buy new crankshaft bolts so its down tools for a couple of days, looking forward to further episodes of this awesome series its been a huge help for me to decide to go for it, Cheers Andy

    What would a rebuild like this cost. I have a 2001 v70 t5 that I may want to get redone sometime in the next year or so.

    • @moosedroppings
      @moosedroppings  Месяц назад

      This build was a little more expense coming close to $8k, due to all performance internals and essentially replacing everything inside the engine bay, but a standard rebuild with using good parts and only ordering what you need to replace could land you maybe around $2500 with machine work.

      @@moosedroppings thank you for the reply. I'm limited to how far I can go horsepower-wise. Currently have an automatic do to left knee issues I can't drive a stick. Do you know of performance transmission shops that can build out around 500-600hp.

      @@TheDryLife I don't know anyone who opens and builds AW-55s, but how about a sequential M66, which would limit the clutch pedal action to only first gear?

    You measured main bearings clearance without any sealant between crank casings. Adding sealant at the final assembly wouldn't that affect the clearance?

    • @moosedroppings
      @moosedroppings  Год назад +1

      The sealant only takes up about a thousand so it is so far down from the decimal point, that it doesn't really factor in once the full clamping force is applied with torque, good question!!!

    Joel,
    Is there a list of all the specific tools, lubrication, and measuring equipment needed to do the block and head assembly.
    I’m ready to do mine at home, but I need to make sure I have everything.
    The ARP studs and the the K1 rods came with lube. But I would like to be prepared.

      So buy the corresponding thread chasers, piston ring grinder/compressor/installer, bore dial gauge, feeler gauges and so forth.

      @moosedroppings  Месяц назад

      @@shortbushero That's expensive, I went to a friends house who had all those tools, that would save a lot of money for tools you wont be using too often,

      @@shortbushero Sure, then you will use those tools again, the gauges will be the most expensive, but you can't cheap out since you need to be exact there, and a cheap tool can cause engine failure!!!

      Well the complete rebuild was done by us, this was simply assembly done at a friends shop.... but, us using all performance race spec parts, and all new EVERYTHING, along with custom sleeving and such... $10K plus but for a standard T5 engine rebuild using factory and used parts, maybe $2000. Here is the article where we cover all the octs of the avilable rebuild options for this engine: www.importsauce.com/the-ultimate-volvo-t5-engine-rebuild-guide/
