At the age of 5, in his native Mexico, he learned to play the violin. At 8, he developed a lifelong love for the guitar. At 14, he honed those guitar virtuoso skills and his performance style by working as a street musician, starting his own band long after, while still a teenager. And at 22 - just before his first album was released to acclaim - Carlos Santana became one of the major discoveries of Woodstock, anchoring the famous festival’s second afternoon on August 16, 1969.
A music industry legend for 50 years and a 10-time Grammy-winning global sensation, Santana continues to be one of the music world’s premiere artists blending jazz, blues, and the Mariachi sound with a rock n’ roll spirituality and a sense of music’s primal connection to our deepest emotions.
The electric documentary CARLOS utilizes new interviews with Santana and his family alongside extraordinary, never-before-seen archival footage - including home video recordings Santana himself made, concert footage, and behind- the-scenes moments. Two-time Emmy-winning director Rudy Valdez creates an intimate, rich documentary about a man whose sound casts a magical spell on his fans around the world.

In 1970 (I was 15) for Christmas my brother gave me a 45 of Black Magic Woman. (He was 13 so how would he know?) That is my favorite song of all time. (Viva Santana double CD has it twice).

I was 14 in the year 1971 and heard Santana the first time, Saba Pati... then I heard them live in Bremen and Hannover. I danced danced danced in the front row, you sent me a kiss while playing big spot on me:-) during the years I made several modern dance choreos, the most beloved is Freedom. tx for all your wonderful music!

I have past life regression memory of knowing Carlos Santana hundreds of years ago. He was a great Shaman and Chief of a tribe of indigenous natives. He worked with the healing of the emotional body. He cleared parasitic beings from invading their bodies. He also carved beautiful flutes for his people. I was his wife and also a Shaman. I healed with Herbs and Prayers. Your recent comments about LBGTQ people, children, seem to show your deliberate ignorance of LBGTQ people and perhaps the complexities of human sexuality.
