"Smooth" was the song that marked the beginning of my love for Rob Thomas. I was subsequently practically raised by his songs.
And I can't help wondering, why is this song just not as good? (The views say it all).
I guess it's a general development that has been going on for years, with Rob's lyrics becoming more and more generic party songs.
The "Smooth" lyrics were simply brilliant, while this is so... standard. Anyone could have written it. While the music is great, the lyrics pull it down.
I hope that someday, Rob finds his uniqueness again. :-/
And yeah, all those masks... horrible. No wonder the final video looks so artificial. The Smooth video was perfect, though.
Impossibile task to follow up on a masterpiece, I guess.
