      john doe yeah me too.
      it's really chill and unique.
I appreciate that he doesn't feel the need to show off and play a million notes a second... to me that gets so boring...
in my opinion, when someone can play as few notes as possible and still create something special that grabs your attention, without having to wank off as fast and technical as possible, is what makes a great guitar player and musician.

Yep. Biggest thing that resonated with me to keep in mind was what he said about how he “couldn’t write songs until he was as good as this person or that person”. I’ve been playing guitar consistently the past 2 years and I’ve been telling myself a lot that songwriting is out of my reach, but hearing someone like Mac who’s made albums and played gigs say that he had those doubts is so comforting and great to hear. I don’t need to reinvent the wheel. Most of my favorite songs are just power chord rockers or a couple short riffs. Just wanna do my best to write something I like and is unique enough to be proud of

Gotta love Mac, he’s got a way of irradiating a sense of pure peace and mindfulness. I would react exactly the same, when walking into instruments stores and spotting those pop-colored squared packets. Thanks Ernie Ball!

"The initial blast is often the most pleasurable". That is extremely relatable. Whenever I feel my mind is in the works of writing a song I quickly pick up a video recorder. If I don't, then I lose the feeling I get from the song.

JesusFreak101 Really? what kind of Ernie's do you get? and what kind of music do you play bro?
I get the slinky Cobalt, and mine lasted me over 6 months.. Sometimes longer, sometimes shorter, and I mostly play metal and also being the lead guitarist..
so I find that surprising and unfortunate that you're breaking your strings so quickly... lol unless you're like purposely playing and strumming as hard as you can :b lol

I have terribly sweaty hands and I'm pretty sure it just destroys them. A good set of strings on a brand new RG lasts about two weeks to month until a string finally gives out. I try to wash my hands before I play but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference.

Patrick Krenz I have exactly the same thing. Been an issue for me for 12 years, I spent the last year trying every brand out there. The best for me I've found was Elixir Optiweb, I've had them on both my main guitar for 8 weeks and still feel like a week old.

Mac's guitar story is almost the same as mine ha. Family of musicians, everyone played guitar, hated it, but when i picked it up i could play iron man and smoke on the water on one string. I stole my brothers Kurt Cobain poster. I was amazed.

My whole childhood it's been blues and rock. As far as what i would learn on guitar that's pretty much it. When i first heard Salad Days it changed how I look at guitar completely. It's opened me up to a whole new style that I cant get enough of. Mac Demarco is maybe my biggest inspiration.

I love his style.. lol it's so fucking weird.. I really like how he shifts his tuning so it almost sounds wrong but ends up sounding unique and stands out.
He's also an underrated guitar player.. especially his picking/strumming.
I appreciate that he doesn't feel the need to show off and play a million notes a second... to me that shit gets so boring.
