I have always felt that the losses suffered after a short period off are more because of changes in the nervous system than actual muscular atrophy. I seems like my strength comes back really quick when I come back after time off, but I definitely get SUPER sore the first week, so obviously there is at least some atrophy. Even actual muscle loss seems to reverse back to the level I stopped at really quickly, but progressing beyond that takes just as long and is just as hard as gains were before. This is just anecdotal, I'm not well versed in the actual science behind it. Anyway, looks like you had a cool trip! I need to get out of the US some time; I think I get too used to my little world and the people I deal with on a regular basis to the point that I forget that the world is a lot bigger than that. We all need to get out of our zones in order to really live a full life. Cheers!

Thanks for the vid, really needed it! Just got back to training for a week now from a 3 month break. I really noticed the lost of gains. Getting back at it and trying to find the right routine again:)

Dunno if anyone has studied whether the strength loss after time off is actually due to muscle loss or nervous system. What makes it difficult is I'm sure it's both...so the ratio would be hard to determine. But I bet that the lost muscle comes back slower and the nervous system quickly recovers or "catches up".

Not having a primed nervous system rather than actually losing strength sounds really interesting! Are there any scholarly articles that I could be referred to talking more about this? I'd really like to know! Awesome video :) managing expectations is always something that needs to be put in check for me haha

I don't usually experience any significiant strength loss when off the gym but my cardio gets so bad that even the warmup exhousts me.

Maybe the tattoos policy is designed to ban certain people who do other things that they don't like and a tattoo is usually indicative of those type of people, aka gangsters.

4 x bodyweight deadlift is insane for a man, let alone a woman. No matter how they "supplement". Very impressive. Sure, you are short and do sumo...but still. You have to lift the bar like 4 inches off the floor.
