  • 🛠 I had time to kill between today's private lesson and CCW training, so here I am in the parking lot, troubleshooting why my Glock 34 slide isn't able to feed rounds, after I swapped optics on it.
Thanks to FB messaging with @robertatarnove @alexandradees who have more gunsmithing knowledge with optics than I do, they were able to help me pinpoint the problem to the extractor.
The weakness in the Brownells slide is the hole for the screw to secure the optic goes completely through the slide, exposing the channel to the extractor.
So in swapping optics, the blue loctite dripped into the channel and gummed everything up, causing the extractor to jam up too.
Gotta get this fixed before this Saturday's USPSA match.

Just had this same exact issue when installing my RMR on an aftermarket RMR ready slide.
Was driving me nuts for awhile because I could have sworn that I had carried it in my IWB with one in the chamber prior to installing the RMR.
Looks like the supplied RMR mounting screws will need to be replaced with shorter screws. So glad I found this.

Good job diagnosing Tom. Two things for anyone else having this problem: A gel product like vibratite is less likely to run into the extractor channel. Also, I had a similar issue with my ZEV glock slide due to the screw being too long.

Ur screw on that side of the optic may be just a tad bit too long… that’s what is probably locking ur extractor plunger in place
