One thing you learn real quick when Trucking 😂 “expect the unexpected” 😂 and “expect that other drivers are gonna do something stupid because they usually do”

dont garantee that kind of thing.if a LEO tells you its smarter to back up because its going to take a while 1.5 hours is not even the lesser of the expected time. 3 might be closer but thats being really tight.
@@dr7coo_ yeah but do you think a LEO that knows his town would tell truckers to spend all that time to back out from the scene when he expect that the scene would be cleared 1.5 hours from now. as a former LEO not usa i will tell you nope.
Best part was watching all the truckers come to the same conclusion at the same point to cover both lanes while backing up to both clear the traffic and to prevent people from lining up beside them to 3 point behind them.
I used to have to a lot of long backdown Street and around the corner in the dark all the time. I always enjoyed the challenge. It was a lot of fun when I had new drivers riding along to learn the routes and many of them quit when they saw how much we had to back in the dark with only the hazard flashers for light with very little wiggle room. You did a good job pat your self on the back. Enjoy it while you can I really miss it.
I've had this happen to a friend, he had to back for about a mile. He was the only truck there though, so once all the cars cleared it was easy. I've never experienced this myself.
Man in that scenario brings back memories. Of the time i had to back 5 miles in the dark. I saw I had a zip tied two flashlights in the back of my trailer just to see.
Here where I live we had a woman lost control and go over the grassy median into the opposite side of the highway and hit a semi head on. Died on impact but trucker is okay from my understanding. Had the exit ramp onto SR 33 blocked off and cops wouldn’t let anyone off that exit so they had to keep on going down the road. But wow, impressive driving skills backing down that road.
This is the one video you needed that turn cam the most.. The guy in the red truck will be forever known as Wiggle Wagon.. That is their official Road name Stuff makes me miss being on the road. But being a single dad I had to bring myself back to steel fabrication. Can't complain I work 4 10 hour days.. but I can't say I don't miss being on the road.
I was gonna comment on whether you can imagine combining what exactly you said the cop told you with drivers who can't even straight back worth a crap, knowing they exist. Then came the 18:00 point, where you were bagging on a nearby trucker's not so good straight backing skills. That was a good laugh.

I work for ALDOT and unfortunately I can confirm, this is something that happens occasionally. Usually there is alot more control than that but this does happen on two lane highways, especially if its a wreck involving a hazmat or biohazard spill.

I’ve had to back up on a service road in Texas near Huston coming from San Antonio once to the next street behind me because a truck got stuck in the grass an mud trying to turn around on the service road because he passed up the very small loves along I-10 because it was super super packed. I passed it up because I knew I wouldn’t be able to get in the loves and went down the service road and passed the spot where the truck got stuck on that road and turned around further down the road and on my way back to I-10 I saw the truck got stuck, so I backed up like I mentioned.
Some guys are hopeless at backing straight. No idea why but it's like their coordination escapes them as soon as the reverse is connected, and they become some total dimwhit. My friend was like that back in the day. He could not back a trailer to save his life.
Oh my goodness that brings back memories of when I was a kid. My dad was a truck driver and he ran into accidents often. Looks like the red truck needs backup school. 😆

This happed to me on I-75 north of Tampa. Had to back up to the last exit, but the police had all the cars turn around then one truck at a time. The closest to the exit first then so on. But it was several hours to empty the road.
I've had to do the same thing Dave. It happens. Either back up to a safe spot to turn around or sit & wait until they clean up the mess. Some of those messes are going to take 2 days to clean up.
the white and red truck... I can see them not wanting to risk staying still until the wreck cleared, but they for sure didn't need to take up each lane backing poorly and slowly. One could have stopped for 10 seconds to at least let that car go. You were right to be annoyed with them.

3rd day on the job what an experience. I always wondered what it was like inside a truck while it was backing up. Now I know
I was on an Amtrak job in the Bronx for like a year that required backing up for a mile or two every day, alongside the tracks, sometimes in the dark.
Just a great experience to learn how to back up straight 😜👍🏻
