Poor Iceland has such a limited pool of singers
It's like a family. Every entry has connection with other 😂
But they are all great!!!
I'd rather say that a very small fraction of Icelandic vocalists are interested in Eurovision. They have tons.
We have some great talents. Our songwriters, on the other hand...
That's actually not true. Even though it is a small country, I'm surprised of how many talents they do have, that they send connected artists to Eurovision is something different.

Poor Malta, I’ve noticed that they always get backing singers from the host nation to lower cost. Ira had to do it in 2002 and 2016.
Jose Uribe They actually got Niamh Kavanagh’s backing group for both 94 and 95.

Also Tamara: reached the best result for Macedonia in 2019

Where did you find the list of backing singers? I mean, does it exist at all?
There isn't a real list. I had to search a lot xD
In some webs (eurovisionworld.com, diggiloo.net,...) you can search an entry and it tells you every member and if has a connection with other

Same case with Tamara Todevska but she was backing (2004?) to lead (2008) to backing (2014) to lead (2019).

Stefan was also a composer for Guildo Horn, he basically was the one who discovered Lena and Roman too because the shows were his idea in the first place. Actually this year's was their first great position without his help. (Because he retired in 2015) Funny fact tho: Michael WAS a guest in TV Total, Stefan's show! He was there with all the finalists of The Voice of Germany 2012. Maybe he 'sprinkled' some of his good luck charm onto him. xD
and he was the conductor at Gildo Horns 1998 "Guildo hat euch lieb" ....STefan Raab is - okay, was Germany´s Mr.Eurovision

I admire Iceland a lot, they strive to use "home grown" singers in their entries, and whilst it's quite a large country physically there aren't many people living there, and even fewer professional singers.
You hear about singers vocal coaches Musical directors etc that are at Eurovision every year in one or other of the delegations. I get the feeling it's not possible to have a Eurovision Song Contest without a Thomas G:son song in it! Does anyone know the record for the most appearances in any capacity in the contest?
I counted that Martina from Slovenia appeared 8 times on Eurovision stage ... it’s a lot, and she tried by herself in Slovenian national selection !

An extra, because it's outside the range is *Ana Bola* who was part of Os Amigos in 1977 was a backing singer for Carlos Paião in 1981 and appeared as Madame Europe in the sketch in final of 2018, during the voting.
Only one I think you missed is that Dawn Martin (Ireland 98) came back to back up Eamonn Toal in 00.

Stig Rasta (Estonia 2015) - off-stage backing vocals for Estonia
Sahlene (Estonia 2002) - backing vocals for the UK
One of the members of Balkanika is singing backing vocals for Serbia and one of the members of Iriao is singing backing vocals for Georgia
Stig Rasta also composed Play by Juri Pootsmann
One small but interesting sub-group are winners who've sung back-up, a group that includes:
Paul Harrington (backing for Dawn Martin in '98)
At least two members of Milk and Honey (backing for Yardena Arazi in '88)
Tanel Padar (backing for Ines in '00 - before he won, natch)
Gabriel Forss -> Backing singing behind Charlotte Perelli (Nilsson) 1999.

AFAIK, I think only Mladen Lukic once again came back as a backing singer for Serbia in 2021. Maybe there were more, but I can't think of any off the top of my head.

you should've included Gary Lux from Austria. He represented Austria on six occasions: 1983 as part of Westend, 1984 as a backing singer, 1985 and 1987 as solo artist and again as backing singer in 1993 and 1995
I've only included returnings in this century (2000-2018)
A few examples from earlier days worth mentioning:
- Paul Harrington (Ireland 1994) - backing vocals for Dawn Martin in 1998
- Anita Skorgan (Norway 1977, 1979, and 1982) - backing vocals for Finn Kalvik in 1981 and Jahn Teigen in 1983.
- Two of the members of Milk and Honey (Israel 1979) - backing vocals for Yardena Arazi in 1988.
- Chris and Moira (Malta 1994) - songwriters and backing vocalists for Times Three in 1999.
Other examples of note:
- While it didn't make the contest itself, Jahn Teigen's "Smil" from the 1990 Melodi Grand Prix featured backing vocals from both Carola and Anita Skorgan, which would've been kinda bonkers (Carola actually competed in Melfest the same year before returning properly the next year and winning).
- The backing group for the Congratulations special in 2005 was an all-star group of three Irish winners (Linda Martin, Eimear Quinn, and Charlie McGettigan) plus Denmark's 2005 contestant Jakob Sveistrup.
- Niamh Kavanagh's entire backing group in 1993 came back to do backing vocals for Malta's subsequent two entries. Matter of fact, there have been a lot of times where Malta incorporate local backing singers from the host country, with 1992, 1994, 2000, and 2001 in particular incorporating backing singers from the previous year's winning entry.

I think Dawn Martin (Ireland 1998) was one of Eamonn Toal's backing singers when he represented Ireland in 2000 for *Millenium of Love*
coincidentially, Eamonn was one of Eddie Friel's backing vocalists in the year 1995 for when he competed for the song *Dreamin'*
in 1983, Jahn Teigen and Anita Skorgan (altho she is a backing vocal) competed for the last time for their song *Do Re Mi* , they both sung in a duet a year before for their song *Adieu*

If we're being technical, Linda Martin (Ireland 84 and 92), Charlie McGettigan (Ireland 94), Eimear Quinn (Ireland 96), and Jakob Sveistrup (Denmark 05) all had returns as backing vocalists in the 50 Years of Eurovision special.
