    I bought an '18 Niro and drove it for 5 years. It gets plenty cold in Minnesota in the winter, which affects hybrid fuel mileage, but over 5 years, it typically got mid-40s mpg on the highway, 47-49 mpg around town. Bought a 2023 Niro this spring ('23) 'cause it has a few features not on the '18. It only has about 5,500 miles on it, but regularly gets 53-55 mpg around town, and on the one long trip so far, it managed 47 mpg from Minneapolis to the Rockies and back at 70+ mph. Slightly larger than the '18, very comfortable highway cruiser at 70+ mph, and quieter than the '18 as well. It's not especially slow, but my street racing days are long past, so "adequate" power is OK. The fully digital dash display is clear and legible. I've never needed 4WD for the winter - front-wheel drive is adequate unless you're going off-road - and I regularly get more than 500 miles to an 11+ gallon tank of gas. So far, I'm very happy with the Niro.

      I think after 2021 the Niro can use battery to warm up the cabin right? I know the 2019-2020 have to use the engine, so when cold the engine turns on until cabin reaches temp

    • @rayschoch5882
      @rayschoch5882 5 месяцев назад

      @@ibbi270 Hi, I don't know. I just wait a minute for it to warm a bit, then go ahead and drive it, slowly at first. Heater works fine, but I've never been in that much of a hurry to see if it will work battery-only.

    Well done Kia. This was in my top 3 when car shopping recently. If not for Kia dealerships atrocious service and markups it very well could have been the car for me. But as it was there were too many red flags during my visit to push past and make me feel comfortable with a Kia purchase.
    Any chance you guys are planning to do a '23 CR-V Hybrid mileage test?

    That's the car I have! I am so pleasantly surprised! It's super comfy drive. Top speed is not great but the "around town" speeds are great. The pick up from electric engine is really good.
    I have some wind noise top front passanger door at high speeds. Probably normal. Some door rattle with bass too... that's a bit worse but it is what it is!

    I had a 2017 Niro and it was good. The 2023 is nicer and still gives us 50 to 60mpg around town and as stated about 45 on the highway at 70, at 80 mph still about 38 mpg. Love the car.

    We have a 2021 HEV, I regularly drive to the UK and Germany from the Netherlands in it, fully loaded if I’m going to a trade show or on a dive trip. It’s a proper workhorse, offering a lot of comfort and is damn economical, returning as standard, about 56mpg (wifey squeezes 60mpg out it…) cruising at 115kph on the clock (110kph gps). We’re waiting on delivery of our EV model.. we’re sold on the Niro, it’s a brilliant car. And great value for an all rounder.

    If you use the paddles for breaking around town to adjust regenerative breaking to level 1 or 2 when coming to a red light or stop, you will easily get over 60mpg-100mpg, depending on speed and slopes. Go back to level 0 when fully stopped.

    I've had four KIA's and loved them all.
    EXCEPT that with the 2023 Niro EX, the door button on the driver's side does not work consistently. It is frustrating as hell constantly pressing the button over and over.
    I took it to the dealer 3x and they really gave me the run around and lectured me it was my fault--knowing damn well that this has been a known problem since at least 2017.
    Basically, KIA refuses to support the dealership with this issue. This leads me to wonder what else is instore.
    Aside from that I've been very, very, happy with all my KIA purchases and good quality. So far.

    not sure you guys know how to drive a hybrid, if you stay around 60-64mph on the motorway in the winter you will get over 50mpg, in the summer you will easily get to 60mpg, even with a heavy load and roof box i drive to Slovakia in the summer and still hit 55mpg over 1700km in 26 hours, my niro doesnt like short journeys in winter but over 10 miles once its warm and even in the dark winter its over 50mpg
