Each day I inch closer to fully plant based. With keto, I lost water weight really fast and then stalled and didn’t actually lose any weight. Plus I lost my hair and flares my gastritis. 😢. I am ashamed to say I used to eat a vegan diet. I lived a vegan lifestyle in general but one day I just gave my whole lifestyle up because I was depressed and couldn’t bring myself out of it (had nothing to do with my diet but all to do with my life circumstances and I didn’t have good coping skills). I regret ever taking that step backwards. I’m not just going for weight loss but trying to get back to the version of myself I once knew.
You do such a great job at explaining calorie deficits! I have lost almost 170lbs with another 90lbs to go. I often save your videos when I need encouragement to keep going. Please keep making these videos!
You do a phenomenal job of explaining these concepts. Your podcasts and RUclips videos have been a real game changer for me. I’ve lost 22# since I discovered you on March 29th! Still more to go but for the first time in 30 years I have hope. I can’t thank you enough. ❤
Eating 1200-1600 calories, 120-160g protein, 100-150g carbs, and 40-60g fat has help me lose 8lbs in 11 days (with exercise) after being stuck for MONTHS! 🙌🥳 also haven’t felt at all starved or deprived. I’m not strictly vegan or vegetarian anymore but still heavy plant based.
Thank you so much for taking the time to film this vlog. It's insane how those calories add up and seeing the two meal plans side by side is quite the eye opener! 😮 xx
I think this method is the best that I've found. It's easy to understand, it's logical, easy to follow, it works. And you are never hungry which is easy then to not buy chips, burgers etc.
More videos like this please! This is the one stubble spot I have - what to eat. I understand the concepts, but it is seeing them put into practice that somehow hits me in the head to think "OK, it isnt as hard as I am making it". I know I'm not alone.
Fantastic well thought out video . Your an amazing communicator . I think it would be also helpful to talk about the fibre content of the unprocessed food that keeps you full and the unprocessed food doesn’t have much fibre at all . Ive only got 2 kilos to lose and Ive increased my quantities of vegetables , fruit and grains (a cup of oats for breakfast rather than 1/2 cup) and have significantly cut down on fats … 1 T walnuts rather than 2 every other day and 1/4 avocado every other day only and I’m shifting these last kilos. More volume …. Less fat and calories . It’s been a game changer for me
I actually just found you’re channel! And yes I subscribe! I’am new here starting my journey on plant based! I was eating eggs everyday for years! And did keto ! I had A/ fib plus I have 29% clogged arteries! I actually gave up my love for eggs’ burgers’ pizza! Recently! I’ve been eating oatmeal with chia seeds’ walnuts! Cinnamon! Some organic plant based protein powder! And a big fruit smoothie for lunch! I’m struggling with my dinner ‘ ording in restaurants! My dinner is tonight is whole grain pasta! My wife and girls are having pasta! Thank you 🙏 so much for you sharing your amazing lifestyle on plant based! I need All the help getting started! I did keto years ago! Now I have 29% clogged arteries! I want to be healthier
Chelsea, you do such a good job at explaining and providing visuals! I have been following you for over two years now and love all of your podcast episodes and videos. This has by far been my favorite one!! Thank you for all you provide!
Chili girl here 🙋🏼♀️ I always have my own special chili mill next to me on the table to add some heat when cooking for more people than just myself 😂 Two tipps I have: If you wet a kitchen towel and put it under your cutting board, it should stay in place better 😊 When moving your veg on the board, turn your knife and use the back of it to scootch it over. Your knives will thank you 😜
Finally vegan weight loss! I feel like I always see weight loss videos with high carnivore protein options or vegan meal prepping that are definitely not worrying about calorie overload.
Iii m 62 and vegan for 7 years. I have just started my raw food journey with the 80/10/10 dediet of 80% raw foods. I have had to cut back on starches (potatoes, beans, legumes) because at age 60, metabolism decreases significantly. I notice a lot of younger people preparing meals with at least one starch in the recipe. However, older people may not be able to eat as much starchy food without gaining weight.
What a helpful visualization of calorie density. I think I may have been overdoing the beans, edamame and tofu. I need to shift my focus to rice and potatoes. I already have a ton of veggies. The sushi bowl idea is killer! I already do burrito bowls a lot. Thanks, Chelse
The problem with granola is people eat it as if it's oats or cereal when it's really more like a topping. Having a big bowl of fruit and soy yoghurt and the sprinkling over some granola makes it a much more balanced and lower calorie density meal.
This is an excellent video and comparison. I was wondering how much rice did you use for dinner, looks like half a cup or so. This rings so home for me, as I was a junk food addict up until over a week ago when I switched to this kind of lifestyle. More videos like this would be so appreciated. Thanks!

Loved this video you explained the weight loss components with great clarity with visuals! By far this is the best video I have seen so far in breaking down the concepts.
Very informative and easy to understand. Your 3 meals look delicious. Only thing I wish you would have done is to put together 3 meals on the other end instead of those snacks.
Great comparison video to see the benefits of whole foods and starches! The healthier options also have a superior nutritionally dense profile than the processed 'treats' - and this manifests in our cells performing at optimum functioning.
Love your videos and how you explain things like it is and give incredibly helpful information!! I have a hard time roasting veggies without oil, I have tried water and using sauces to mix in after roasted but I can't stand to eat them like that. I try to limit the amount of oil I use because eating them is better than not. But this makes so much sense. I watch your videos every day for inspiration!!
Thank you! With your suggestions, yesterday I did a big shop at Trader Joe's, came home, cooked beets, then white sweet potato, pot of black beans, and some quinoa for breakfast. Any breakfast suggestions when you can't have oats, corn, wheat, soy or almonds, for weight loss?
This is such a great video. Though I’d like to see the comparison between actual meals. Like a tofu bowl compared to something you’d actually eat for dinner. Like chicken, and 1 sides. Though maybe some people eat a thing of ice cream for dinner! 😊 And be careful - flax and rice have lead in them. Especially if grown in southern states in the US ❤ Tofu bowl for dinner tonight!🎉
Thank you. I totally can not feel satisfied on a raw vegan diet. I try and try, and I just can't do it. This makes so much sense... I am ravenous because eating a half watermelon after cycling or a tough strength training does absolutely nothing for me. Thanks again!
Me too. I use raw days like a 36hr cleanse often but can’t do more than that and lift weights. I end up eating 30bananas and still not full. Spaghetti squash, broccoli, and zucchini with my starches help a ton.
Incredible video again! I just thought as I love condiments, I'm going to try to sub them with premade humus or my own bean dips, because I hate my foods being "dry", adding too much mayonaise sometimes. Thanks so much for inspiring me to make these swaps. I just microwaved my potatoes lol
When Elizabeth Taylor (RIP🙏) lost a lot of weight, she went to an elite “fat farm” spa. At that spa, they placed people immediately on a fast for a few days then 800 calories of just fruit and a salad for about 3 weeks. Then the slowly increased the calories to 1000. By the end of 2-3 months, the calories were increased slightly to an amount the clients would be able to sustain outside of the spa. So I can see 800 calories in the short-term of a few months but not in the long-term.
I seriously love ur channel. I’m vegetarian it obviously our diets overlap and there are more vegan channels then there are vegetarian channels. But it’s so rare to find a channel that is more about the diet and health vs the ethical part. (Which is also great but isn’t what I’m looking for) A lot of my switch to being vegetarian was for health reasons and I just want motivation, education, and inspiration on how to eat in a way thats filling, and realistic (I can realistically find these ingredients and not have to buy 50 things I may never use) Seriously thank you🫡
I Respect the info you are giving, I just can´t handle the dinner you suggest, I believe I need more than that 20% on lunch, and like 50% more food for dinner... but thanks
It’s good to keep something in mind - all our bodies are different. Our age, hormone levels especially, genetic predisposition all come into play. It’s all great stuff. But I know your way also works for me. However I know people who are carnivore. Low fat and low carbs technically, at least refined carbs and they feel and look great. I could not and would not want to do this ever. But everyone is built different. I also adjust my eating based on my cycle as women need a bit more carbs the week prior to their cycle start in order to support hormonal balance.
Where have you been? I really missed your motivation content (and ease recipes ❤). Saw you uploaded a video a few weeks ago. RUclips algoritm is mysterious....
Me, too! Finally! ❤ I could always hear on my phone and iPad…but TV cut off early on. Of the twenty or so channels I subscribe to, this was the only one that it had happened to…so it was nothing I was doing. 😊

Chelsea Mae says they eat those things from time to time, too. They do it even in this video! :D
Many people are unable to eat those types of things "in moderation". It's a food addiction thing. They find it easier to cut out completely.

Sometimes I just felt hungry no matter how much fibre, vegetables, water rich foods, or even lentils I ate - until I discovered tofu.
