    Big bug with green flashes. Never happens on the first export, but I'll watch the video back, fix some stuff, re-export and I'll only notice it the next day when I re-watch the video right before publishing. Website is fully finished and tested, but one of the pages shows some of my dev work and I want to have a couple really good projects to show on day 1 since most people won't be checking back regularly. Everything will be open sourced as well so I also need to make sure the code is readable and maintainable.

    Quadros slay in engineering CAD work. They’re able to perform at a precision that GeForce cards can’t.

    • @davidmeisinger5511
      @davidmeisinger5511 4 года назад +8

      Can you elaborate? I'm pretty sure Quadros use the same GPUs and have basically the same processing power as GeForce counterparts, what makes them geared towards professional use is the much higher VRAM and the power connectors moved to the back of the card rather than the side. I don't think that means GeForce cards are less precise.

      @@davidmeisinger5511 Quadro RTX4000 crushes RTX2080 in 3D rendering. Not even close. It's day and night. Quadro is not optimized for gaming so most people don't have any idea just by looking at benchmark numbers. It's like comparing a Porsche(RTX2080) to a fire truck (Quadro). Porsche for speed. Fire truck for getting work done.

    • @davidmeisinger5511
      @davidmeisinger5511 4 года назад +3

      @@asok2siam911 you do realize that's not how that works, right? 3D rendering is faster because of the much higher available VRAM. Quadros all use GeForce equivalent GPU dies and in terms of just raw compute power, they're the same. This "not optimized for gaming" thing is just not true. Benchmarks usually benchmark performance, not gaming performance, just so you know. You can't just ignore factual data.

  • @ShredST

    7:58 That is not really correct. Practically speaking, pretty much every x86 processor has some sort of SIMD instructions for >64 bit operations. AVX-512 is the newest of these instructions and has largest width. There's also AVX-256, AVX-128, and the older SSE instructions which are very common.

  • @marc-andreservant201
    @marc-andreservant201 4 года назад +4

    AVX-512 is a massive throughout boost, but:
    - Pretty much only MATLAB / deep learning will benefit
    - It causes your CPU to hit its power limit pretty much instantly, so it's not much faster after all
    - It's possible to bypass the soft power limits by overclocking on K chips, so you can get the most out of it. Unfortunately, overclocking and scientific computing are pretty much mutually exclusive

    Raised this with Lenovo and they refused to get this fixed and claim this is just out of warranty. Even when I am willing to pay, they now claim they have no parts. Bunch of crap and extremely poor service. Unfortunately, the laptop works fine, just that it cannot be closed or opened as the entire casing is just crumbling. Also, some AM4 boards support ECC just fine with Ryzen CPU (non-APU) and *PRO* versions of Ryzen APU. I know, because I have had one ECC error on my only 24H/365D system using PRO APU in 2.5 years.

    Ugly, plastic disaster design. Looks like used Walmart crap for $100.

    Lenovo is bad and poor quality.I purchased a LENOVO Thinkpad just about an year ago. However, the laptop just started crumbling around the hinge area. Bad construct and casing.
I recommend that you talk about quality and service records as well so your subscribers can be warned. Thanks
