The only reason I cry when hearing this song is because I imagine being in the phantom's place, and hearing someone I love so dearly saying these things to someone else. Poor Erik.
+I Sir Laughsalot You can't really blame him, after being abused throughout his childhood and living in isolation and solitude the majority of his life. I feel he was confused and desperate, he just needed someone to love and fix him. Christine was just too much of a wuss to do so, in my opinion! haha
+I Sir Laughsalot He would have done anything for her (I mean, he literally killed for her), I don't think staying sane for the sake of Christine would have been a challenge. Then again, I may be biased as I do have a bit of the hots for the phantom, lol.
The Phantom is his own kind of light... He's mysterious and misunderstood.. He truly needed love but didnt know how to express it.. Gosh, he just needs a hug :)
I won't say that all music nowadays is bad. I like quite a bit of modern music, such as Imagine Dragons, Jason Mraz, etc. But I also enjoy this music. Recently, The Phantom of the Opera was performed near me and I went to go see it. I LOOOVED it SO much, the epic intro, ending, and everything in between. I just wish I could go see it again :P
This song is really wonderful in highlighting the differences between the relationships in the love triangle. While Phantom wants to lead Christine away from everything she's ever known and keep her like a possession, Raoul just wants Christine to be in his life and be herself. Wonderful song - It served well as a beautiful, chilling end to the Act.
The whole time I was listening to this song in the movie, I could only think about how sorry I felt for the Phantom. This is probably one of the sweetest stories ever, and I could listen to the Phantom of the Opera songs for hours and never get tired. I'm pretty sure I cried at the end of the movie. It really is a wonderful song.
I was at track practice, and this girl I love was really upset..And this has always been "Our song" i guess. I started softly singing in her ear "No more talk of darkness..Forget these wide-eyed fears...I'm here, nothing can harm you, my words will warm and calm you" And she instantly smiled, and started blushing like crazy Best part of my day.
WOW! I saw this movie last night. It was nice but i loved the music mostly. This song and the song at the ending credits put me into a trance. I felt every emotion evoked in these two songs. I was stoked for the whole night. I barely got any rest. something about this song got to me strongly. I will never forget the way I responded to this song. A truly magical and spiritual experience. I LOVE music!
He tried to force her to love him, love can not be forced, it has to be nurtured and allowed to grow. It would not have grown if he forced her to live with him in his cave, it would have been snuffed out and she would have grown to hate him. Her love of life would have been snuffed out like a candlelight in the darkness if she was forced to stay in the cave with him for the rest of her life, and she would have died relatively soon after that. Phantom realizes that and lets her go with Raoul because she did not live him like he loved her, he knew that his love for her would have killed her, in soul, in mind and finally in body. Raoul on the other hand loved her enough to die for her, he knew that if she gave herself to the phantom to save his life, she would be dooming herself to misery and isolation and die in the cave, so he told her to let the phantom kill him and to escape from him, he put her happiness above his own well being, that is a real one.
This song is soo sweet, and makes me wish for someone like Raoul. The movie is great; the plot is intriguing. Right now, I am officially obsessed with the Phantom of the Opera!
Phantom of the opera is the greatest movie of all time. Its a beautiful love story with music I think is sweeter than any modern music. I can never get tired of the Phantom of the Opera, the characters are lovable and display the greatest acting/singing performance. They dont add unnecessary, corny drama they just stick with classic beauty and passion for music. Although it is set a while back we can all relate to the feelings of jealousy, love, confusion, fear and disapointment. Greatest movie
This song came on pandora, when i asked my best guy friend who passed away this sunday to give me a sign, and this is the song that came on next. Most amazing moment of my life.
I LOVE THIS... I loved the movie times a billion, and this song makes me cry.. all the time... just the opening lines, and i'm already in tears... but i can't tell if they're tears of joy or sadness... huh...
Raoul irritates me (Talking about the character < has read the book, not Patrick Wilson) but, this song is just so stunning. If only Christine and Phantom sung this together (unrealistic I know) O//.//O
Am I the only eleven year old (twelve in eight days) who deeply loves Phantom of the Opera? I mean, I grew up on this stuff. I used to watch the movie all the time on road trips. Love it!
Finally someone understands!!!!!! Everyone is always so sorry for him. Yes its sad, but he should have tried to go about it a different way if he truly wanted to win Christine's heart.
When our school put up this play, we had Christine sing the chorus very slowly and without music, like in a memory kind of way when the Phantom is torn about her in the end. It was so moving, because you could see the Phantom's pain in that moment where he listens to her.
WOWWW! you guys are phenominal! Its so overwhelming that All I Ask is sing more!..Christine's voice here is so incredible, better than the real Christine in the broadway show~..hats off to both of you!..
Yay! I finally got this movie for Christmas. I've loved this movie for over 7 years, and considering I'm 15, that's about half my life! The passion, love, and longing in these songs are so absolutely beautiful, a person would have to be either very stupid or not appreciate great music to like this movie. I just hope that this lives on throughout many generations, and people still love it as they do today. :D ♥ ~Team Phantom/Erik!!! ♥♥♥
Pretty sure I've been obsessed with this musical/story since I was a kid.. this is a timeless story, and I think anyone who's ever seen it, knows she should have chosen the Phantom.
Watched this musical today for the first time. A bunch of high school students performed this. I fell in love with this song and the actors were just so amazing. They were so freaking passionate and they kissed. It made me wanna cry. I'm a sucker for passionate love scenes in musicals. D:
this brings back memories of my sixth grade year, when things were still exactly the same as they'd always been. im sick of change...this song brings me back to the past, and that's such a good feeling for me:) great job on this song, by the way lol
Oh My God...This is my favorite romantic duet of all time and as I was listening to this, I was thinking that at our wedding my wife and I would sing and dance to this. So either marry me, or give up the idea, because this is my song. :)
In 1995 ( yes a looong time ago lol) I won the national school choral award for a school called Tulare Western High School in Tulare Ca. One of the song that our choir performed at comp was this song and I performed this solo along with my best friend at the time in school. I will never forget the moment when I was presented the award and will never forget this song. It will forever live in my heart. also our school received 4out of 5 superiors for the medley of Phantom of the Opera songs.....
i love her vocal range because its so easy for me to reach. and am i the only one thats noticed that all of the music sounds very similar? ...i just noticed that this song is exactly like a story im writing in my head and i love it so much !
The best. Stage performance ever. I love this song so much it is love explained to the T. I seen this play a few times wow ..... The music of the night wow the words so beautiful written. Say you love me thats all I ask of you.wish she had stayed with the phantom. Omg the scene when. He is all in red. This 🎼 does something to me i cry every time ....
Omg I feel exactly the way you do. And I seen this a few times love love so much I cry everytime. And the final will be april of this yr so so sad this should never leave broadway
i did see it live. i saw it while they were showing it in las vegas at the venetian. idk if they still do it though lol. but yea! it was super awesome. idk if they did it for the one you went to, but for me, one of the best parts is that they actually transformed the entire theater to look just like the movie. like you were actually there. it was super awesome! sat in the sixth row! loved it!
I'm not afraid to proudly say that the fact that this is an R/C song makes it even better (if that's possible), in my opinion! Really an amazingly beautiful song... :-)
My Girlfriend showed me this majestic piece of art a year ago in Florida, land of sand and sun. But what I thought was strange was she skipped over one song, she didn't want me to listen to it. then one night when we were on the beach at sun set, she pulled out a small radio and played this song, trying her best to sing softly to Christine's lyrics. It was the most romantic thing. Kathryn, if your out there. I still love you, and I didnt mean for things to turn out the way they did.
The only reason I cry when hearing this song is because I imagine being in the phantom's place, and hearing someone I love so dearly saying these things to someone else. Poor Erik.
+Mouza Al Mualla He's obsessive, egotistical, lustful, and mentally ill. He was not good for Christine and his love was not real, IMO.
+I Sir Laughsalot You can't really blame him, after being abused throughout his childhood and living in isolation and solitude the majority of his life. I feel he was confused and desperate, he just needed someone to love and fix him. Christine was just too much of a wuss to do so, in my opinion! haha
Mouza Al Mualla An innocent, young woman like Christine can't fix a mentally scarred victim with extreme PTSD. He can't really get help unfortunately.
+I Sir Laughsalot He would have done anything for her (I mean, he literally killed for her), I don't think staying sane for the sake of Christine would have been a challenge. Then again, I may be biased as I do have a bit of the hots for the phantom, lol.
Mouza Al Mualla I am a straight male, so I probably don't have that bias haha.
My son was born 8 days ago and I sing this to him. It always seems to calm him down. I love this movie and song so much.
+Rose Jelley Makes a really good lullaby
How is he
Do you still sing this to him or is he too cool for it now?
He's now probably 8 years old
Hard to choose between this and Music of the Night. They're both my favorite
I agree.
Same
The Phantom is his own kind of light... He's mysterious and misunderstood.. He truly needed love but didnt know how to express it.. Gosh, he just needs a hug :)
as an alto this song is the bane of my existence
As a bottom bass I can sing this pretty decent
✋🏼me too ohmygosh
fucking same although I actually have a pretty wide range (well i did when I sung daily)
As an Alto every song in this is the bane of my vocals existence.
The truest expression of love in song form.
The song sums up what everyone wants from someone in a relationship: "Love me...That's all I ask of you."
The girl who played Christine was only 19 when she played this role. She has an absolutely amazing ❤️❤️
I think she started playing that roll at the age 16 and ended age 17 :)))
When she was 17 she started ! That’s really so... wow
And now she is Fiona lol such a different role
So awesome. The lyrics are so good compared to modern nonsense these days.
like genius compared to modern day xD
agreed
I won't say that all music nowadays is bad. I like quite a bit of modern music, such as Imagine Dragons, Jason Mraz, etc. But I also enjoy this music. Recently, The Phantom of the Opera was performed near me and I went to go see it. I LOOOVED it SO much, the epic intro, ending, and everything in between. I just wish I could go see it again :P
***** As in where I am where Phantom came recently? No, I'm in Florida and that comment was a month ago :P
Manuel Patrick Lauron Just because the music and lyrics does not apply to your taste, does not mean it is "nonsense".
This song is really wonderful in highlighting the differences between the relationships in the love triangle. While Phantom wants to lead Christine away from everything she's ever known and keep her like a possession, Raoul just wants Christine to be in his life and be herself. Wonderful song - It served well as a beautiful, chilling end to the Act.
i love the phantom soundtrack it is a remarkable piece of musical genius
I've read the book before and never the movie (can't find it for some reason) and I never thought their songs would send shivers up my spine...
Scaranpannoir Ferafeso it’s at the library
This song makes me shiver
The whole time I was listening to this song in the movie, I could only think about how sorry I felt for the Phantom. This is probably one of the sweetest stories ever, and I could listen to the Phantom of the Opera songs for hours and never get tired. I'm pretty sure I cried at the end of the movie. It really is a wonderful song.
The most satisfied feeling I've ever had was hitting Christine's note at 4:24. ;]
This is the greatest song of the whole movie.
I cried every time when I watch that part, so sad and so beautiful... ♥
My ballet teacher has the instrumental of this song and we use it in class. gosh is this a beautiful song
I was at track practice, and this girl I love was really upset..And this has always been "Our song" i guess.
I started softly singing in her ear "No more talk of darkness..Forget these wide-eyed fears...I'm here, nothing can harm you, my words will warm and calm you" And she instantly smiled, and started blushing like crazy
Best part of my day.
aww...so sweet ❤
I actually don't find musicals and broadway shows very enjoyable. That said, this is one of the most beautiful songs ever. Powerful and moving.
I absolutely love the opera. The music and the costumes and everything. I even saw it on stage. That was a great experience!
This is just so great, I never get tired of seeing this on Broadway.
How could someone dislike this? This is a wonderful song, so calming and soothing.
I'd rather listen to this than music kids my age are listening to these days. This music feeds my soul ❤
totally!
I actually prefer calming music like this.
the most beautiful movie ever!
and the music OMG!
THIS.IS.OPERA!
This song puts my one-year-old daughter to sleep :) Even when I sing it!
Saw the movie for the first time today. As a grown man it made me feel like I could cry hearing this song, and I'm not ashamed to say that.
I wanted Christine to choose the phantom :(
He had just been hurt his entire life and knew no other way...
he deserved to find love
100 per cent
But... He was possessive and kidnapped her...
She chooses him there is a sequel she has a child with the phantom and she dies because her best friend shot her
every one who sad the phatom deserves love too thank you , u r so smart and kind , thank u
This reminds me of the love of my life. We sang this song when we fell in love. I wish he loved me back... ;(
This song is soo sweet, and makes me wish for someone like Raoul. The movie is great; the plot is intriguing. Right now, I am officially obsessed with the Phantom of the Opera!

My ex gf hated opera and this movie losers is my vote
I have watched this Opera four times already in different places and I always cried while they were singing this song😢
One of the kind ……
Team Phantom
Raoul didn't even tell her he loved her.
"Christine: Say you love me
Raoul; You know I do."
I SANG THIS IN A LOCAL PRODUCTION A FEW YEARS BACK AND IT STILL PULLS MY HEARTSTRINGS!!!
This makes me ugly cry.
omg, i saw this on Broadway in NYC this summer. IT WAS AMAZING! SERIOUSLY BLEW MY MIND.
I sing this to my baby at night :)

That's actually really cute and adorable
Phantom of the opera is the greatest movie of all time. Its a beautiful love story with music I think is sweeter than any modern music. I need to learn the lyrics to this.. XD c:
This song came on pandora, when i asked my best guy friend who passed away this sunday to give me a sign, and this is the song that came on next. Most amazing moment of my life.
PATRICK WILSON!! That dude can sing?
+Derek Bates that dude was doing broadway shows before he got into movies, he has a gorgeous voice =D
princepeterwolf
apparently, he also has a gorgeous face; but, don't take that out of context.

I LOVE THIS... I loved the movie times a billion, and this song makes me cry.. all the time... just the opening lines, and i'm already in tears... but i can't tell if they're tears of joy or sadness... huh...
That's all I ask of you. Is it too much to ask, or expect from people these days?
I love this song~! I'm glad that my band directior picked this song to do for our spring concert~!
Raoul irritates me (Talking about the character < has read the book, not Patrick Wilson) but, this song is just so stunning. If only Christine and Phantom sung this together (unrealistic I know) O//.//O
i know a guy who is amazing at this solo. He did it for the school and I was in tears! He's also a good friend of mine so i was so proud of him!
All i ask of you is _____
Fill in the blank :)
It can be anything. it does not have to go with the song lol
Food, all day everyday.
Your mom! Oh!
Love, because all you need is love!

NICE SONG..NICE POINT OF ENCOUNTER BETWEEN THE TWO VOICES FLYING WITH THEIR SOUL..
This sounds like a disney song tbh
Am I the only eleven year old (twelve in eight days) who deeply loves Phantom of the Opera? I mean, I grew up on this stuff. I used to watch the movie all the time on road trips. Love it!
would this make a good edding first dance song? :)
It was my parents :)

ButterySticks true trueee
Omg cannot stop replaying this song! Fell in love with the movie! Thx 4 posting!
Finally someone understands!!!!!! Everyone is always so sorry for him. Yes its sad, but he should have tried to go about it a different way if he truly wanted to win Christine's heart.
Beautiful song for a happy couple to listen too.
this song inspires me so much. I feel so bad for the phantom yet I favor Raoul more. This is perfect for a wedding song
When our school put up this play, we had Christine sing the chorus very slowly and without music, like in a memory kind of way when the Phantom is torn about her in the end. It was so moving, because you could see the Phantom's pain in that moment where he listens to her.
One of the finest duets ever written. never fails to move me to the depths of my soul. Thank you Andrew Lloyd Webber.
this is my favorite song from phantom! my dad sang it at a couple weddings before. it's sooooooo beautiful!
This is one of my favorite romance songs of all time

I'm in love with this song...The soft melody, and the instrumental...
I love this song!! My cousin is doing a Phantom of the Opera themed wedding. So I started searching about it so hear I am:) love it!
WOWWW! you guys are phenominal! Its so overwhelming that All I Ask is sing more!..Christine's voice here is so incredible, better than the real Christine in the broadway show~..hats off to both of you!..
as soon as i hear the music start playing, i feel like crying because it's so beautiful!!!!!!!!
Whether you like Raoul or not, you can't deny the fact that this is a beautiful song...
This is gorgeous. I think my husband and I are going to sing this at my wedding instead of saying vows.
LOOOOOVE this song and movie, one of my favorites!!!
Thanks for posting the lyrics both on the side, and the in actual song too.
This was so beautiful on Broadway. One of the best plays ever!!!!!!!!!
I saw this in Vegas and it was absolutely incredible!
This is seriously the most perfect wedding song...
Yay! I finally got this movie for Christmas. I've loved this movie for over 7 years, and considering I'm 15, that's about half my life! i did see it live. i saw it while they were showing it in las vegas at the venetian. idk if they still do it though lol. but yea! it was super awesome. idk if they did it for the one you went to, but for me, one of the best parts is that they actually transformed the entire theater to look just like the movie. like you were actually there. it was super awesome! sat in the sixth row! loved it!
Thank you. Finally, someone who is not ignorant.
Listening to this song has made me intrigued by Phantom of the Opera. So artistic and beautiful
My school had its first Staff Residual. My Choir teacher and theatre teacher did this song. They were amazing!
we're singing this in choir this year! i cant wait!
I'm not afraid to proudly say that the fact that this is an R/C song makes it even better (if that's possible), in my opinion! Really an amazingly beautiful song... :-)
I love this song so much! It is so beautiful and yet sad because the phantom is hearing this.
I cry every time I listen to it!!!
I've been wanting to see this movie. I adore this song
great play, even greater music that made the play even better
Best duet of the whole musical.
