  • Hi Everyone. It is October and we are going to work on some Halloween snow globes between now and Halloween. Today we have a globe on a black wooden pedestal. In the globe is a pewter skull with a bird standing on top of the skull that appears to be a dove.
    This is a solid base globe. We use the boiling water method to open it. We replace the dingy water and use the water submersion method to remove the air bubble. We added a lot more bats and replaced the black glitter with some black snow that we had left over from a previous repair. We increased the glue to 50 percent to keep the bats flying around a bit longer. It turns out that 50 percent glue is too much. There is not enough water to dilute the glue completely and the water is not clear. We went back to 40 percent glue and that worked fine. 40 percent will be our limit but we will most likely stick to 30 percent in most cases.
    The black snow and bat combination along with the 40 percent glue looks great.
    Check out this playlist to see other Halloween snow globes that we have repaired:

    This globe is so cool! I’d love to find one for my sister, who is very into that aesthetic. I recently found a great broken snow globe at a thrift store. The glass globe is a snowman’s head. The base he’s on is a scarf. The end of the globe with the rubber plug is actually at the top (under the snowman’s winter hat). When I finally managed to disassemble it, I discovered the globe is motorized and contains a music box. There’s a Santa in a sleigh figurine inside the globe, which is supposed to turn as Jingle Bells plays. I’m not sure if the motor even works, and there’s no clear way to wind the music box. I may end up just putting fresh solution in it and reassembling it if I can’t figure it out, because it does look very nice even without the music and movement. I’m going to do some research first, though, because I’d love to see it brought back to life. Do you have an email? I could send you pics if you’d like to see it.

      We will let you know if we come across another one. We also have a snow globe similar to the one you are describing. It has a snowman head as the globe with a carrot nose and the base is a scarf, however, ours has ear muffs instead of a hat. You can email us a picture to tespi74@hotmail.com.

    Hello Ally & Tony. Congratz to your 200th Episode! 🥳🍾
    Yes 50 % glue is way to much. The water looks like the murky water before the fixing.
    Now it´s looks really good. Have a nice Helloween and see you in the next.

      Thank you Alex. It's hard to believe we reached 200 episodes. Yes, 50% glue does now work. We won't try that again!

    I’ve got a grinch snow globe of a fairly large size that has been in my family since I was like 5 and I’m 27 now. My aunt decided to let me have it and it’s got a slight yellow hint to the water and the snow is pretty much borderline fish food condition. It’s a solid bottom and the globe is glass. Max is on top of the globe. Would love to do this but I’ve never done it before

      No problem. You can do it and you will be very proud of yourself when you see the finished repair! We have many repair videos . Take a look at our repair playlist and see if you can find a globe that is similar to yours.

      You said that your globe has a solid base. We have a recent example of a solid base snow globe repair, it is Episode 195 - Elvis Presley's Graceland. Good luck!

      @@danieldavis6090 Not a problem. Use the same process, there is less risk to the material that your base is made from as there is with a wooden base.

    I have a kirkland musical snow globe with revolving base that won't play anymore. I can't find any videos about repairing that specific kind of music box. It doesn't have a wind key, it's supposed to wind by pushing the revolving part back. But now when you wind it nothing happens. It doesn't play. I've searched everywhere on the internet and can't find anything. Do you know what could be wrong with it?

      It sounds like your music box mechanism may be over wound or defective. You will have to disassemble it and check the mechanism. We have some videos where we repair the music box mechanism. Try Episodes 51 Strawberry Shortcake Music Box Mechanism Repair, or Episode 17 Santa's Living Room, or Episode 157 Dogs and Butterflies. You can also send us some pictures of your globe to tespi74@gmail.com and we can possibly provide some advice. You can also look through our repair video playlist and see if you spot a globe similar to yours. Playlist: ruclips.net/p/PL2nI60LLgsOzFUEwNoQz4odEeCL01jpHF

    Hello, how can I get the falling snow inside the snow globe? Are you making the falling snowflakes out of something like foam or are you getting snow-looking glitter? I couldn't find the little white snowflakes floating in the snow globe

      Hi. We get snow from two sources. We get snow from old used snow globes that are too damaged to repair. We also buy snow from National ArtCraft. We have a link to them in the video description. You can also watch Episode 19 where we review the snow.

    I have a question and I hope you will be able to answer me. I have fill my snowglobe with purified water. I did not remove the globe but use the needle. After filled it there a a lot of bubble stuck on the surface on the figure inside the globe. Will it disappeared? If not what is the solution to this? Thanks ❤

    • @snowgloberescue8887
      @snowgloberescue8887  Год назад

      Any little bubbles clinging to the figurine will eventually release after it sits for a few days and has been shaken a few times. That has been our experience. It is the same with glitter that sticks to the glass. It eventually releases.

    I have a globe that has a long base like this one but it’s from the 70s and of course has never been unscrewed. I tried the boiled water thing but maybe I didn’t do it long enough? I’m scared to try and squeeze the water around it because I don’t know if water will damage it as I took the twist off the bottom and I can look through the hole of the base and see more screws under the actual globe. Any ideas outside of the boiled water idea? I really wanna fix this for my mom, it stopped spinning maybe 10 years ago but it still plays the song

      Boiling water is the method that works best for us. Make sure that you have the snow globe in a plastic bag to protect it and get the boiling water up to where the globe and the base meet. If they globe is attached with hot glue it will eventually loosen. We have had some globes take 15 minute and others took over an hour. We had use fresh boiling water every 15 minutes. The other option is to use a hair dryer to heat the area. It is possible that the globe was not attached with hot glue. If it was attached with epoxy or super glue it may not be possible to remove. The other option that we have used is to break the globe and chip all of the glass pieces that are attached to the base then use a new globe to reassemble with hot glue. You can get a replacement globe by either finding an old used globe in the thrift store and take it apart to use it's globe or you can use one of the links in the video description. It is an option of last resort but it will fix the issue. You said that you can see screws through the hole in the base. Can you get to them and remove them?

    • @xraiynx
      @xraiynx 8 месяцев назад

      I can see the screws through the base but I can’t get to them because the base is so long. It’s about 8 inches to get to the screws and they’re a little off centered. I put the project away for a few days but I’m actually getting ready to try the boiling method again. Another thing is there’s definitely a leak in a globe itself so I wasn’t planning on putting water back inside, I just want the carousel to work again. Have there been any times when your hole sealing method didn’t work?

      We have had issues sealing the globe in the past. It is usually an issue with the stopper or there was some oil or something else that kept the sealing glue from sticking properly. Send a couple of pictures of what you are working on to tespi74@gmail.com and we'll see if we can provide any advice.

      We have a few spare parts that we have taken off globes that were beyond repair but we don't have anything that matches what you described. Email us a picture to tespi74@gmail.com and we will see if we have something. There are links in the video description to three companies that sell snow globe parts, one of them may have what you are looking for.
