The song is about his father and the guilt he feels in his father walking out of his life. Him blaming himself. "Stones to throw at my creator" is a perfect line for that. . And also his father was at a concert and Corey played it for him.

      Well
Stone Sour was defunct when Slipknot released their debut album.
A few years later josh rand contacted corey that he wrote some material for Stone sour and thats when Stone sour became active again.
So im not sure if its justified to call Slipknot a side project for corey.
And i am pretty sure corey doesnt see it that way either.

    • @CornerBoothGames
      @CornerBoothGames 5 лет назад +2

Dennis van Opstal well, he wouldn't outright say it that way because it would seem disrespectful to Slipknot. Plus he gives 110% to everything he does equally. BUT, I think where people get it very wrong is to call Stone Sour the side project, because it definitely isn't.

    • @dennisvanopstal7360

@@CornerBoothGames i agree its wrong to call Stone Sour a side project to.
He might saw it that way at the time of the first album.
But i have seen Stone Sour many times and have all albums.

Al Lefrancois I totally agree, even if I don’t like the new direction a band takes I don’t take it as selling out. They have to mature and evolve otherwise everything starts to sound repetitive especially if they’re around for a long time. I personally prefer stone sour to slipknot. I like some slipknot but a lot of their stuff is to screamo for me. I love good guitar and lyrics with such emotion. I think this song got big when it was released on the Spider-Man soundtrack by just Corey Taylor, then it was released by stone sour on their self titled album.

I absolutely love that Corey can melt your face with Slipknot and then turn around and melt the ice from your heart with Stone Sour! It's absolutely amazing. In my opinion he's the most versatile vocalist ever. Please do more Stone Sour! Love you guys! Keep it up!

Yes, he is. He can sing, rap, and if he wanted to he could sing country. I don't care for country, but I know he would sound amazing. I don't know why some Slipknot fans don't like Stone Sour, I'm still trying to figure out why some people only like one type of music. I personally could not just listen to one type, I get in different moods. Like when I'm driving, it's gonna be Slipknot. If I'm just chillin and relaxing, Stone Sour. Or that type of music for those two scenarios. You know what I mean.

For a long time I always read this as being about the struggles of depression. The way your struggle to care, the way you hurt so much you want just stop feeling altogether, the way you wear a mask to hide what's going on and just how bad it really is and how much you're struggling and overwhelmed. Now knowing about how he was raped as a child i think this is a lot about that and the aftermath of it. How as a child he had no voice, no power to protest against what happened to him. The shame and embarrassment that led him to hide what happened from everyone for so long. Theres a really common phenomenon among survivors of sexual violence where they will hide what happened to protect the people they care about from the pain they are feeling. Holding onto the lie, the mask no matter how much he bleeds, no matter how much it hurts. The song hurts but it's a such a great, meaningful song. Free hugs for anyone who needs one right now.

The rest of this album is nothing like Bother really, I guess you could say it was their "Ticks & Leeches" in that sense haha (not that it was forced, but that it almost didnt fit). Their first album has a lot more of the Slipknot original sound, with a little garage feel to it IMO. Not grunge, but a little dirtier I think. Can't say I'm a huge fan of Slipknot or Stone Sour really, but Corey Taylor did a song with Dave Grohl and Rick Nielson from Cheap Trick called From Can to Can't that's pretty badass

Stone Sour is Corey Taylor's alter ego ahaha Great song. One of their classics and a softer one from their first album.
My suggestion: Pain of Salvation - The Passing Light of Day

Not sure what it’s about. But I think of it as an addict hiding his addiction. Doesn’t feel worthy of anyone’s love but once he decides to get clean he’s going to do what ever it takes “once I hold on, I won’t let go til it bleeds”. Just my take.

Do you know that Corey won the awards for best vocalist on two different genres at the same time. It shows how versatile he is. The man can sing anything.

This song almost didn't make the album because it wasn't a Stone Sour song per se, as it only has Corey Taylor on it, the band pushed him to include it when submitting the album to the label, if you guys want to hear a couple of the primary songs that got Slipknot to ask Corey to join them check out Monolith and Tumult from the same album, most of this album is nearly identical to the album they produced prior to Corey disbanding the band after he joined Slipknot, Bother was really the only new song which Corey brought in already complete, the track listing was really the only thing that changed other than that

It could be about depression and thoughts of suicide. Because of a past of abuse in childhood. And saying that no one needs to bother and he is slipping farther but if he decides to hold on he won’t let go until it bleeds. It’s like him facing his demons of the past that haunt his everyday life and him saying I’m slipping farther is like I’m slipping farther into the darkness but once he holds on he won’t commit that self destruction ( suicide) to end the pain. And if he does give in he will never live down his deceit intern he will regret it.

According to Corey Tailor, this song is about losing yourself and finding yourself in one breath. And as far as I'm aware of, it's also about all this music industry bullshit, depression and moving forward on your life/ career
