Buddy of mine ordered a dark green colored Colorado several years ago. Been a good truck. Really interesting color too. Good review. Camera angles and the new content is awesome.

I have a ‘15 All Terrain canyon, and overall I’ve been pretty happy with the 4WD system and G80. 120,000 miles so far and no real issues for light off-roading, although I don’t do anything too extreme as it is my daily. I’ll be interested to see what changes they make for the 2023 AT4X.
I do like the 4wd Auto for that reason. I prefer a gear/chain connection to clutches in the transfer-case, but I also haven't heard of too many problems with the clutches wearing out on these auto 4wd systems.
I have a ranger Fx4 and not having auto 4wd is a minor gripe. No biggie though. I’d give up the auto 4wd to have a selectable rear locker and the engine, towing and payload that the ranger has any day.
@@JonBecker81 A Colorado/canyon can tow 7500lbs with the diesel. 7k with the gas engine. Very comparable to the Ranger. I've had both the G80 4wd auto in my trailboss and a locker on my F150 FX4, small lift and 33s. I'll take 4wd auto any day over fhe locker.
I have a 2020 all-terrain and have put over 53k miles. Absolutely zero issues. Fun little truck and will perform amazing off road. It will beat a ram rebel hemi in a straight line too! LOL
I always liked the look of the GMC Canyon better than the Colorado. This AT4 looks great (sans air dam of course). The delay (or countdown) of that G80, could mean the difference of making an obstacle and not making an obstacle.
Many people do prefer the GMC look. There is a newer AT4 package that removes the air dam and a few other features. The G80 is good for everyday on road use, but offroading it can be a little finicky. With some practice it's not too bad, but I still prefer a selectable locker.
Yes, GM calls their brake based limited slip pinion control. Even with TC off, the brake based limited slip remains on. Many vehicles work this way. Thanks for watching!
Great video. I’m getting a 2022 Canyon AT4 soon. And there’s not many videos showing it’s AT4 4x4 capability. I like the inside and outside shots especially showing the G80. Couple questions what condition would you use the 2 wheel and 4x4 without the traction and stability off?
That kind of depends on the driver, but deep snow, mud, and sand are all terrains where traction control makes things worse. On paved roads traction control can help keep the vehicle from spinning the wheels, which reduces the chances of under steer (front wheel drive) and over steer (rear wheel drive). Personally traction control hinders more than it helps. I'm much more understanding of stability control than I am off traction control.

The biggest con to this truck is the key ring banging against the steering column. I can't believe they haven't gone keyless yet in 2021. I have a 2017 Canyon Denali with keys and the keys are always slapping my leg or the column. They could have placed the 4x4 selector in better location too.

I would split screen inside and outside view to shorten overall video length. Great video. Too bad AT4 not as capable as Z2. I like the look of Canyon better than Colorado.
Thanks for the input! I've gone back and forth with split screen, many people like being able to see the larger exterior view. I'll look at running both on top of each other and switching between which one is full screen while having the audio from the inside playing all the time.
The lock up on those G80’s just seem so violent like they would send a big shock to the gears back there. Seems to me like it would cause excessive wear but what do I know? 🤷🏻
It's a pretty stout setup, but imagine being fully loaded with one wheel on pavement and the other on mud and having it lock. Could be bad, I've heard of a few cases where they break, but not often.
I used to hate that too, but now I think I like it. Especially with a key fob like Nissan/Infiniti uses. Some key fobs these days are ridiculously huge. I'm looking at you Jeep!

I wish I had tested the Blazer dual clutch on here. I have more hope for the Bronco Sport Badlands, but I have had others with the dual clutch that couldn't or wouldn't put enough force in to have it act like a locked differential.

I’m no engineer or really even super mechanically inclined but it’s definitely not a smooth transition from open to locked. Something with clutches would be a much smoother transition. I’m a fan of my ranger’s and my previous Cherokee trailhawk’s selectable locker.
I'm still working on getting a power wagon. The rear diff is a Torsen limited slip with and e-locker feature. It should provide for the best of both. I claim it is my favorite design, but I've never actually driven one so I can't be sure.
What would you recommend? These are Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. In my opinion these are a mix between an all-terrain and a mud terrain tire, and about as aggressive as I would want to go if I were using it as a daily driver.
For offroading it is a hindrance, however it can help people on road, especially those without the skillset or experience to drive without it. As far as using momentum to climb, you are correct. However going slow is a better test of the truck's traction systems, which is what I'm testing. Thanks for watching!
Weight, width, reliability, lack of articulation, lack of power (on all but the H1 Alpha). I've seen illegal wheeling videos and a large variety of modified vehicles can do the same stuff. Again I love the H1, it's an incredible vehicle with unique features that make it do some things better than other vehicles, but it's not the end all be all offroader.

I had a 2018 Colorado Z71 that I traded in for a 2020 Ranger FX4 and I really miss the auto 4wd. It is extremely handy when driving in bad weather.

The Rebel with the hemi was definitely faster in my testing. I do agree though, it is a good little truck!

I never noticed anything strange board from the front end in my testing with it.

Looks like yours are just a hair bigger, the stock ones on the at4 I tested are 265/65R17 duratracs

The g80 and gm’s 4x4 system is good off road but even better for every day use on roads in shitty weather.

I don't like the way the G80 rear-diff operates. I would prefer a switch to be able to turn on/off. Maybe an On/Off/Auto mode!!!

Everything has pros and cons, the H1 is one of my favorite vehicles, but it has many weaknesses as well.
