The issue with my controller was with the "X" button, which was not responding unless really pressing down on it. Unfortunately I had to resort to Solution 6 as nothing before that really worked. It was somewhat a nerve-racking experience given the fragileness of some of the inner components, but your video made it really easy to navigate through each of the steps. Ultimately, this fixed my issue and the controller is as good as new. Thank you!
@@Hpro1i for me its basic clean up, my problem theres dust above and under the silicon pad, because I wear glove when Im playing. The dust is so thick. I follow this tutorial 100% and after that it works like new. Not just that, all button feels responsive .
spilled teryaki on the xyab buttons and it got sticky in the barrel of the buttons. Your video got me in, got them cleaned, and got me gaming again. Many Thanks!
Step one worked. Not shure if there was actualy dust in there, but it seems the button was a bit crooked. prying a bit with the piece of cardboard to get it to fit all the way around seems to have allowed the button to pop back into place. happy to see my control alive and well again :)
@9:00 the cables on mine did not come right off. Used my fingernail and the solder broke after some careful picking. Now the controller is broken. I cant solder that small. Consider including some tips on removing those cables properly.
Thank you!!! I unfortunately had to take apart the controller and do a deep clean because three of my buttons were sticking. But following this guide was so easy and now everything works. Also for anyone else that has to take it apart, the motherboard screws were t5 on mine
Turns out the reason my B button wasn't working was that a chunk of plastic had broken off it and wedged itself in the way. And while I was in there, it also turned out one of the rumble motors wasn't wired in properly. Thanks for the video guide, this was a fun project.
Thank you so much for this video. I had to take apart all the controller to fix my A button sticking issue, and your video helped me do it perfectly! Thank you so much!! ❤
my newly bought controller having issue with the A button, being hit n miss registering press. luckily doing your Solution 2, by vacuuming the button do the trick, thank god. Thanks so much for ur guide. Big thanks from Malaysia.
Thank you for this! I'm always overly protective of my stuff so I was devastated and disappointed in myself when I spilled a soda on my brand new Forza Horizon 5 controller. Ever since I've been using the method of blowing on the buttons to make them not stick for an hour or so. After following your video and cleaning it out it finally feels like new again.
This video helped me soo much! I had a few sticky buttons on the controller and was about to throw them out until i saw this video! It took me upto solution 3 and they click like brand new. Thanks alot
I had to take mine completely apart to fix my sticky b button. Cleaned it up well. Hardest part was putting it back together with the triggers and routing the wires So there was slack up by the trigger portion. I had to redo it since I routed the wires from the top to the bottom the first time. I should have addressed the issue with the directional pad that I forgot about. I just press it once to the right and it goes twice so I will have to clean that up I'm not sure what caused that. But that was an issue before I took it apart that I forgot about and I didn't clean up any of those areas. Great video.
I tried everything in the video but A and B just kept sticking. Finally I tried the suggestion between solution # 3 and solution #4. It worked! The buttons are now unstuck! IDK how liking a RUclips video can stop console controller buttons from sticking but here I am. Maybe cause I hit the like button WITH the controller while it was still in a state of partial disassembly it randomly worked. Our dog ran off and buried the D-pad and L-trigger again but once I dig them up there's an 80's Soap Opera themed turn based strategy pinball game I can't wait to binge for a good 72 hours.
I took it apart and there was some kind of red liquid everywhere so i cleaned it and it works great now. Only thing is the dpad has a slight metallic clinky noise, but works fine. I tried another controller and i got the clinky noise again but works great. Compared it to a new controller and I dont see any difference... I wonder what i did? Glad it works though thank you.
You sir are a hero thank you so much for this was super stressed about having to buy a new controller all together, but solution 6 worked me, thank you so much for this in depth tutorial
Thank you for such a detailed explanation. We had to replace the rubber padding. All seemed to go fine but now it won't turn on. No response with a known working battery and only a vibration when plugged in by usb. Any suggestions?
Solution 6 solved my problem! Im the type who doesn't fix thing by my self, I always pays people to do it. I dont know how, but I did it by my self and it works! Theres so many dust under the silicon pad. This thing happen because I always wear glove when I playing games and not to. mention I want to avoid yellowish from my controller because its white controller. Thanks for the tutorial!
You have gaming gloves? And you wear them? Ever thought maybe washing the Cheeto dust off your hands first? J/k, to each their own. Wear the gloves if you want bro. No gamer glove shaming from me.
I feel like an idiot right now I literally just blew into the buttons and whatever was in there is out and all the buttons are working thank you so much for the video it was so irritating trying to get it to work properly
Xbox One and Series Controllers suck. I had three of them an all of them did at some point have problems with the A-button input. My 360-Controller worked for 10 years without issues.
Thank you so much. Ive spilt so many liquids on mine. And now 1 down 4 to go. The controller rubber pad was DISGUSTING ! But now its back together and works perfectly!
bro thank you dude i wiped down my controller before my session cuz it had taki resido build up on it and I got on fortnite and When I tried to build I couldnt cuz the B button didnt work. Spent 30 mins freaking out and getting pissed trying to fix it. Your suggestion of the Canned air worked. Sprayed it all over the controller and fixed it. Thanks
I have an original xbox one controller and i took everything apart but i was left with two small white pieces and i dont know where they go. Any idea where they go?
My controller had faults in X and B, what I did was to do a little lever in X and in B I pressed it hard, now both buttons work correctly, although sometimes it breaks down again
People like you are literally angels, haha... how else am i going to fi d this tyoe of information! There are some good things to technology after all! I wish and hope that you are successful forever, brother! God bless and take care!!
I had to pull apart my controller to fix a sticky X button (solution 6). But I didn't touch any wires; simply rotated the board out of the way to access the final set of screws.
I wanted to fix a faulty A button, did the removal and fixed back to the best of my ability (I really hate the Torx screws because sometimes they just refuse to move). While it could still power up, the A button improved a little, I ended up discovering stick drift on my left analog, not sure why.

Was there dirt between the X button and the PCB? Or did just a basic cleanup make the X work for you? I have the same issue but with Y button.
Good job fixing this yourself!

Controller was whack for weeks and I just tolerated it. Watched this, got to step three which cured the sticky x button. Cheers!

Exact same thing for me but I read you’re comment and just did step 3 and it instantly worked 😂

Thanks for the thorough tear down - really helped take the guess work out of pulling my controller apart to clean the contacts.
Oh my god I swear that thin piece of cardboard part just worked for me thanks so much
Thanks!
Thank you.
Had a stick button and you saved me from opening my controller. Thank you
Blowing into the gap of my B button surprisingly worked. Thanks a lot! Deserves a like 👍🏻
Mine just fell and my button became hard 🤦
I literally do that every day
@@quintonscroggins5629 yeah ngl I had to do that too, I just bought myself an elite series controller. But the guy still helped me out 😂
Thank you!!!
I just fixed my controller that my son messed up. The B button was so sticky it wasn’t working and now it’s fully working!
Turns out the reason my B button wasn't working was that a chunk of plastic had broken off it and wedged itself in the way. And while I was in there, it also turned out one of the rumble motors wasn't wired in properly. Thanks for the video guide, this was a fun project.

My son spilled soda in his controller. Your video saved my a good bit of money. Thank you
Solution 3 is meta 🔥 didn’t try any of the others and all I did was blow with my mouth major W

Great Tutorial - helped me repair a stuck A button!
Conductive rubber buttons contact pad always die in gamepads, no more "flex" if the dome breaks. They were easier to replace in the 360 ones though!
the cardboard method worked like a charm, thanks a lot!
🔥❤️🔥 I love these videos, Man. Very informative. Thanks again brother.❤️🔥🔥
Really good video, b and a buttons were stuck and this video saved me £50 for a new controller!!

Don't use force, there's 3 closest to the stick and 4 sets of clips in two's that are towards the bottom if you look you can see them.
Updating my controller ended up working somehow
lol how
Just blowing into it and the cardboard trick , boom, it didn't stick , thanks mate !
