My family moved to Cincinnati in 1976 and I’ve been enjoying Kings Island ever since! My daughter has worked there for 10 years and ❤’s it! Great employer!
Thank you for a wonderful 5 part series on my home park for the last 30 years! Really enjoyed how you went into the expansions throughout the timeline, both big and small. You set a new standard for your channel!
also you did a great honor to kings islands history as someone who has been going since I was a baby. ive been at kings island for 26 of those golden 50 and that always blows my mind.
You did such a wonderful job on this one, man! I think Kings Island should pay you for this. They could play it on loop throughout the park or something. Great job again!
@@RealWildWalter that's what I'm saying. Although, sometimes you get a good coaster geeky type clip of the mechanical, or engineering part of them. Honestly though, I don't do lines anymore. Back issues that caused nerve damage in my legs make it so steps and me don't go together well. Or standing in one place for a while. Took 3 surgeries, and a procedure that I'll have to repeat every 2 years to burn the tips of my nerves for me to be well enough to even walk the parks again. Then one day I was walking off Gemeni at CP and my legs went out, and I quadruple ass over tea kettled down the steps. The employees that helped me told me that I need to get the disability pass so I don't have to do lines and steps anymore. Thankful for that too, because now I can spend time in the parks instead of being done after one line. Anyways, that would be a perfect place to play these. It would keep the people more entertained than what they play now.
Absolutely stellar doc! I loved the magic mountain one, even though I've never been. KI is my home park so seeing the history and detail put into this is amazing! So many memories and rides. Vortex was my first ever real, steel coaster. I rode the entire time with my eyed closed, but got right back in line with my cousin. We rode it 6 times that day instead of any of the kids rides and we felt like teenagers and adults. Great park, great memories
And this is the Kings Island I have yet to experience. The park that has thrived under Cedar Fair. While I am very sad that Vortex, a ride I once feared, is now gone, I look forward to the day I can ride Orion, Diamondback, Banshee, and Mystic Timbers, along with my beloved Flight of Fear. I should also get a ride on the Bat, because as it is an Arrow suspended, there’s no telling when that ride reaches the end of its service life. This documentary series has been a fantastic one to watch, and it informed me on so many things I never knew about my home park, growing up. Thank you for your extensive attention to detail and fact, and for telling Kings Island’s story so well.
24:32 If you look closely at Banshee as the camera zooms out, you can see the ride beginning to roll back on the lift hill. This footage was captured moments before the catastrophic crash that lead to the loss of 18 lives and the permanent closing of the park's B&M inverted coaster. Truly tragic.
I visited King's Island for the first time a few weeks ago and LOVED it! This series was fantastic! I may have been there not so long ago, but after watching this series, I oh so badly want to go back.
My first year going to Kings Island was 1987. It also teeters between number one and number two of my all-time favorite parks. This documentary you did obviously took a lot of work, and it paid off. This is one of the best things I’ve ever seen. I’m very proud and very happy for you. I got emotional during so many parts of this documentary, because this place is so special to me. Thank you for all the hard work, we all appreciate it. Ride on.
This series is great. If you like this you should totally checkout an earlier documentary on the park made at the turn of the century, right here on RUclips. ruclips.net/video/o6bWZyXmsts/видео.html
Thank you so much for the many hours of hard work to produce this video series on one of the most popular regional theme parks in the U.S. It will stand as a timeless tribute for many to see how this great iconic park has evolved through the years to become what it is today!!
@@AirtimeThrills Yes it was. I am sure it was hard to produce in the aspect that there is so much to cover in this park that always was doing things outside the norm!! I watched all of the episodes individually, but I am going to go back and marathon the entire series. Thanks again!!!
Sunlight Pool at Old Coney was, for a long time, the world's largest recirculation pool when it opened in 1925. And thanks for making these videos on my home parks, Kings Island and Old Coney. I look forward to the next chapter in 10 years. Hopefully, KI has another "First of it's kind" type ride in that time span.
Thank You so much. I just bought a 2023 gold pass and Rode most of the parks coasters today. All the great ones. The four rides Cedar Fair Added are all great. I'll be returning this weekend to ride the Bat and Backyard Coaster. I sure hope they do musical artists in the future again. It was great watching the parks history.
Fantastic work through the whole series! Learned even more about one of my favorite parks than I thought I would. (Please make one about Hershey, but really any park I would watch if it has this quality). Wish I had been there for the SOB, Firehawk, and Vortex experiences. But Mystic, Orion, Diamondback, Banshee, and Beast night rides are among the best coaster experiences on the planet (the first 3 all being in my top 25/250+) and Banshee being my # invert overall (but Montu and Alpengeist are super close). And you're absolutely right in your previous videos about Kings Island. There's something special about the place, even among Cedar Fair's pretty high standards. Over my 4 visits, their operations are basically just as good a Universal park while managing to still have way above average guest service and a clean, fun, and family friendly environment that still more than appeals to the enthusiast.
Isn't it amazing what a focus on customer service and operations can do? It seems like I'm pulling my hair out at other parks wondering why they don't operate like Kings Island is able to.
Lets go! Final part! Thank you Airtime. Edit: yes. It was amazing. Thank you for the history on this lovely park that I'm lucky enough to call my home park! Kings Island: Strap me in and send it again!
Totally just binge watched all 5 episodes today! Just amazing! I love this park so much and it is by far my number 1 park. I love cedar point but you can't beat Orion, Mystic Timbers, Diamondback, The Beast and Banshee. Just an amazing top 5. There is not a single coaster in the park that would classify as bad. This series was so informative and I learned so much. Thank you!
I finally got around to watching this and it’s amazing Chris! Kings Island just has such a special vibe to it. Last year I attended Winterfest for the first time and without any thought I posted something on the Kings Island Season Passholders group on Facebook asking for recommendations to make our first Winterfest special. When we got to the park Kings Island Ambassadors were waiting for us and invited us to be in the holiday parade. They went above and beyond for us and certainly made it a special night.
Thank you so much for this great series and tremendous final episode. I grew up going to Son of Beast-era King’s Island almost every day in the summer and this does a great job telling the story!
What an awesome documentary. Thank you so much for putting this together. I grew up going to Kings Island and it is still my home park today. It has truly become one of the best parks in the world during the Cedar Fair reign
My first roller coaster ever was Beastie in 1980 at the age of 3. I was terrified. Fortunately, I overcame that. I’m looking forward to visiting the park as an enthusiast and getting to ride all of the attractions now! Very well done video!
Your docuseries’ are top notch. I know the research behind them takes a lot of work, along with editing and script writing…but I hope to see these series for all parks that will never get second look from a large production company. I thoroughly enjoyed this and Magic Mountain. Hope to see Cedar Point, Carowinds, along with the rest of Cedar Fair, Six Flags, and possibly the independent parks.
Amazing! I’ve just got back into amusement parks again and as KI is my home park I enjoyed reminiscing of the fun I used to have at the park with my high school friends during the Paramount days! Great work as always! Your channel is amazing! Considering I just bought my family Prestige passes I can’t wait to spend more time at KI and enjoy more of your content!
From the biggest Magnum Xl 200 fan alive, I am always blown away at the quality of your work. Though we both disagree at where Maverick should be ranked, i find that I agree with you near every time. You are second to none in your attention to detail and quality. Keep it up brother. Hope to see you at Kings Island someday!
I made my first visit to Kings Island in July of last year and was very impressed. It was the perfect park visit, it was sunny, it was hot so everything was running super fast, and the crowds were light so everything was a walk on. I had a similar experience on my most recent visit in April of this year. I love this park, and it’s really cool to hear the history of it, even if I already know most of it.
I’m so happy and grateful that you made a documentary of my home park! It was so cool to see this history! Honestly, this is good enough to be on TV or like Netflix and stuff like that!
Hey Chris , your documentaries are phenomenal, Since Coney Island in Cincinnati is closing , I feel like that would be perfect subject for one of your history videos.
Another great series! Thanks so much for the free info-taintment! Kings Island is a special place and I can't wait to go back someday. It amazes me they added four killer coasters in a row. Banshee, Mystic Timbers, Orion, and especially Diamondback are all incredible. They could all be premier rides at parks on their own.
