One thing I learned from working with my mental health, the less dishes the better.
Less to wash, less to stack up, less to put away.
It’s just better all around for my household.

Wow, you did one heck of a job. You can tell how much time and love you put into this job. I, too, hope this person isn't upset or embarrassed, but perhaps feels some relief and to know they're not alone and can reach out for help. It's sad to think they lived in this for as long as they did, but I'm so glad you gave them a bit of a fresh start. You're an absolute blessing!

Of course the tenant won't be upset that she entered her property totally without her knowledge, and of course she won't embarrassed , it's all over the Internet for the whole world to see. So no, she will be fine. ..........

As a person who suffers from a chronic illness and depression, this is an amazing blessing.
My place is cluttered, and I have no clue where to get the energy to clean, which makes the depression worse.
    Great cycle, not

From someone dealing with the same things, start small. Closets, cabinets, pantry and other storage areas. Give yourself somewhere to put the clutter in the rest of the house.
It didn’t get cluttered in a day, it won’t get clean in a day. Don’t fell bad if you throw away things that can be donated, save yourself before you save the world.
My little goal for tomorrow is to sort my dirty laundry. If I start washing great, if not oh well. My goal for day after tomorrow is was 2 loads of laundry. Small but attainable.
You’ll get decluttered eventually, one small task at a time 😊

Hang in there. Start with bathroom and kitchen. Do one section at a time in each room… example if you start in the kitchen, start with dishes and if it’s really bad break the dishes down into smaller sections too like just wash all the utensils and cups. Then move on to plates and bowls.. take breaks. But don’t give up. Good luck

What a great thing to do for someone who is clearly suffering from some form of mental illness. I have seen places like this and pitched in to help as well. Sometimes all it takes is helping hands with no judgment. Many hands make light work. The real work begins when the resident attends therapy to help understand why they allowed their home to get this bad. It’s not laziness, it’s a sense of becoming overwhelmed once it gets to a certain point where you don’t know where to start cleaning. Once they realize why they got to this point, they can start healing and move forward. ❤ Always check on your family and friends who live alone.

My lease states they can come in with no warning for an emergency (fire, flood, etc), 24 hours notice for an urgent situation. Health, sanitation, and cleanliness can affect others if there are pests and can damage property as well, so it would be an urgent situation and would be a 24 hour notice.
Other states can have different laws and other landlords different things in leases (as long as it still abides by the law).
A situation like this I'd expect a 24 hour notice.

I saw nothing in the video that indicates who the person is in any way shape or form. Which I thought was wonderful. As someone who has hoarding issues yes I believe they will feel slightly violated but I also believe that shortly after they will be very appreciative. It's not something that changes overnight, but hopefully these two people continue to be supportive to help them learn to maintain this.

I hope everyone knows that the state of this place can get the tenant evicted. If eviction is preferable than an illegal clean, then the tenant should press charges and get evicted. When I was a tenant, I understood that I had to maintain the property to a certain level. I was more clean (and careful) in my apartments than in my own house. That’s what you have to do when you sign a lease agreement.

I don't want to work twice on scrubbing, cleaning, and then disenfecting an area, this is the reason I use those products.

I would give them a warning if this place is FLITHY like this again they would be given a 5 day notice. And I live in a section 8 building and they give us MANDATORY inspections every 6 months to make sure we are following the rules with keeping our apartments clean and in a safe condition that’s stated on our lease. And yes they check everything including the stove , fridge , bathtub, toilet, sinks , carpets, floors , closets , cabinets, windows basically the whole apartment has to be spotless. I always passed the inspections with no problem because I’m a clean person And I don’t like living in FLITH. It’s DISGUSTING.
I clean my apartment twice a week and every summer I do deep cleaning. I scrub top to bottom everything if it could get dirty it gets clean including walls, baseboards etc. I couldn’t imagine living in a FLITHY place it would drive me insane.
If we lived this way we would be evicted. People who live this way are NASTY individuals and lastly it’s UNACCEPTABLE . There’s no excuse for someone to live in these terrible conditions unless if you are LAZY and don’t care how you live. They should be ASHAMED of themselves. 🤦🏻‍♀️

He would never consider entering someone's home without permission, regardless of the circumstances.
He is sensitive to privacy concerns as well as to the negative effects the unexpected invasion of privacy would have upon someone whose mental health had declined to the point where the home could be in such poor condition.
Such disregard for the tenant's rights and mental health could cause setbacks from which it may take years to recover.
The same level of sensitivity was needed here.

@@cbeautifulworld11 Do you not think the health hazard and biohazards posed by the conditions of this person's apartment that others were forced to live with was also wrong? So what you think is right is that the apartment be left in this state to protect that person's mental health, meanwhile bugs and rodents make their way into other apartments, the stench interferes with the ability of others to sleep, and the person themselves continues to live in a dangerous apartment? Have you ever had a neighbor who lived like this? Have you ever dealt with a roach infestation that someone else's apartment brought to yours? Who even are you? Some person who thinks that illnesses should be accommodated at all costs? No matter how it harms someone else? So if someone has a disorder where they go around hitting people, that's fine and nobody should intervene, since, according to you, mental illness should never be interfered with, no matter who it harms.

They had permission from the landlord and the landlord was there the entire time helping, it is completely legal. Landlords have the right to come into your space for inspections and enforce that they be better taken care of at the risk of fines and/or eviction. This was the landlord being extremely kind and considerate of the tenant’s situation and helping them get better control of the situation.

    • @EmilyThomasIrvin

@jailelitaker9921 if it looks like a skunk, smells like a skunk, chances are it's probably a skunk. If it looks like someone is breaking in, shows a video of them breaking into an apartment, they probably don't have this permission you say they have. And if they did, then this whole thing of going through the window and pretending to break in is just for click bait views and I think that's even more shameful. So whichever, neither makes them a decent person.

      You're right, it is illegal.
She says in the beginning that the landlord broke in to clean the dryer and that's how they found out about the infestation, after the right to privacy law was broken.
Excruciatingly humiliating for the tenant to have this happen without warning.
Plus, many people hide valuables in nondescript containers to disguise them.
A random person coming in to clean without permission would have no idea that those things would not be trash.
Everything about this is wrong to do to a tenant, especially someone apparently suffering from stress, CPTSD, ADHD or other challenging issues. It could send some people over the edge.

      @lindabruns6020 4 месяца назад

Calm down. That tenant was just lazy or extremely busy but not a hoarder with a psychological issue. Watch those hoarder videos. This place was nothing compared to those. Bug and mouse infestation had to be addressed to protect the landlord’s property and she had every right. I’m sure the tenant appreciated the clean place.
