Nice video! Got a lot of usefull tips for my 1 series diff overhaul (from your diff video). DId you change any of the gear shifter linkage? My manual transmission is often diffcult/hard to get in both 1st and second gear. 3rd and 4th is easy. I have changed the oil but it only helped a bit. I have seen people claiming that the linkage can be worn and cause shifting issues. So im thinking of changing, i also have a leak from the rear seal on the output shaft.
Hi dear Jani, I hope you can advice me with something. I own the same car and my gearbox start to be noise in second gear. I want to change the gearbox but I found on eBay a lot of them, olso from N43 engine. But the codes on the side are different. My gearbox code is AI5 and I have founded CBL, TAPZ, etc... I found a few with AI5 but the gear ratio writen on the gearbox case is again different. On my gearbox is 6-1 and I found just 2-1, 3-1, 5-1.😔 Can you please tell me how important are those Codes? Should I buy any gearbox which come from an N43 engine? Congratulations for your videos posts on RUclips.
Thanks! Check car vin number from your car. With that you can check part number for gearbox from bmwfans site. Part number needs to match. There are differencies, examble start&stop system. Google gearbox with part number 👍
At least the engine and car transmission should be in order now. The car has indeed been running for a while and would look good so far. 😊 Nice hobbies and the car will be in good condition at the same time. At least I hope so. Of course, a little over-maintenance may occur when you do the maintenance yourself ... 😉

"For motor N43: Cam of release bearing (A = 12mm) is on sliding surface of release lever"
And for the n46b20 engines?
Hi, which socket do you use to remove bolt with your impact gun, 7:23?
Looks like the spring of the small gland got loose 🤔
Indeed, it would seem. Or it’s even an old seal metal spring.
I hope not affect the use and cause leaks ... we'll see.
