Yeah there are a lot of PT cameras out there... I don't have any Zosi cameras anymore. I used to have an old CVBS camera system by them some years ago. Might have been 720P can't remember it was many cameras ago. To be honest the Quality isn't really there.. For a Cheap PTZ camera if you wanted one for that spot. I would look into the Annke WZ500, It is a 5mp with 20x zoom. Now the 2 I own are a couple of Misfits. But overall quality is good and for what you are trying to do I think it would work great for your location. What is the cost in your area not sure. I know that I bought my 2 under what asking price was on Annke's website. I did some videos some time ago about the camera. While my Review wasn't maybe the greatest. That is because you can't go from High Quality PTZ cameras to the WZ500 without some pains.. Now biggest issue for me is there seems to be some video padding going on. So high quality 2mp 20x zoom camera to someone with quality picture in mind would notice. Someone without PTZ of lower quality or any quality the camera has a great picture for the Price. Now the camera in my Video that I put up to it cost MSRP 799 in 2016 when it was bought new. I paid 10% that for the Annke 20x zoom camera with white leds and ability to work full color even in pitch black I wouldn't though personally. I would use the Auto IR to Color at night on motion to keep the camera cool. White LEDS are full on in color night mode without an adjustment so the short time going from IR to Color at night won't over heat camera... Again it is 20x PTZ with quality optical zoom. Price ranges from 99 to 129. Again not sure what it would be in your part of the world.. I think the Zosi app for your camera is better then the app for the WZ500. But again quality 20x zoom. App for me do I get alerts? yes, can I playback yes, does it work away from home without having to pay for Cloud? Yes.. Then that is good enough for me... I do have over 40 cameras be it HD Analog or IP, Some are Ai others just normal.
In theory camera price is good even only being PT. For some brands these cameras are just under 200 and has to do with ability to patrol more then just a Static area of view. However if price difference is only 30 or 50 from PT to full PTZ then pay the extra.
Can you use this camera without it using an app that might send info back to China. Maybe rtmp output etc. Use one of the local security software setups then integration into home assistant. Just a thought from an old fella in Tassie.
It's not an IP camera, so there isn't an RTSP option, which would make it hard to "roll your own" HA integration. It seems everything needs to be controlled through the app.
@tomduncan3547 if it's wifi and on the same network as your NVR, the recorder should pick it up, maybe need to enter it's IP address, rtsp port is probably 554 and video feed port 8080
We have 2 of these camera which whatch the entrances to our bird of prey enclosures and surrounding areas as well as having fixed cameras inside and for the money they are pretty good. Great vid bud

I think is worth paying a bit more for a cam tha follows and zooms and can record go a dvr without paying for cloud. Ive got an older Pan only that records to sd but now im wanting more upgrade
Good question Bill. The ethernet is an alternative to WiFi, so it isn't required. You do have to make sure your WiFi supplies 2.4Ghz bandwidth, as the camera only connects to that.
I really like your videos... but I left this one after the "Finally connected" part... because this cam is NEVER going to be part of my setup... not a chance - nope! not with that lousy "security". Thank you for the work you put into it - and i'm a little impressed you didn't roast them wint other than som very clear facial expressions ;-)
Thanks Flemming for your candid feedback. Put it this way, I am unlikely to review a similar product any time soon 😂 Which is why normal programming shall resume from next week. At least now you know not to spend time considering it. And yes, I am a very nice person, but it seems my sentiment came across 😏
I can see now that this company does not help those that purchase their products. While looking at the facebook page, I saw that this is a ongoing issue with this product. Once 5 months pass the product stops working, and users get no assistance. Rather than continuously going back and forth and having no resolution. I will leave my review on every outlet I can find regarding this product. I have a reolink and swann in my other properties for over a year and they never had an issue. There was no intention by this company to ever stand by their product.
I find a lot of these cheap chineseum devices do not support secure passwords, do not support WAP 2 properly (definitely no WPA 3) and rarely, if ever, get firmware updates to correct these issues. Not just limited to cameras though. The Android car radios made in the same place are similar for many of them. It's the lack of security and the large number of security holes allowing these cameras to be used in a botnet, or to phone home, that would stop me using them. Not to mention the fact they are not always what they are advertised to be
@@LarsKlintTech I think Ubiquiti Protect, even though more expensive, are a much better option. I only have 2 cameras now using ONVIF, and they are on borrowed time now, even though I do totally isolate my camera VLAN from the internet
Was impressed when I came across your video yesterday as I was looking for info on my new Unifi stuff.... but seems most if not all of your videos are freebies (hence sponsored).... So shame but I'll pass and will unsubscribe.
Lars, thank you for the review! You covered the camera and features very well…and I love the comedy you throw in!
Thanks Clint. Appreciate the feedback. 😊
Love the look on your face at 6:59.
It was genuinely a baffling experience 😂

Thanks for all the info. I am still not convinced this particular camera is worth the asking price.

Thanks alot nice review. Have you tried C296 poe 8MP is it better
You are most welcome. Thanks for watching.
No, I haven't tried it and I very much doubt it is any better.
Has it got auto tracking?
It does not.

Thanks mate. The picture quality is pretty good for the price. The main point of improvement imo is the app and how to manage it.
Do you have a video telling which outdoor camera is your favorite?
Kinda. I have a bunch of videos on cameras.

Agree, but it's not "a bit more" for all those features.
I noticed they have an ethernet jack on the cable, is ethernet required? I have Starlink router an a newer laptop both are only WiFi.
Good question Bill. The ethernet is an alternative to WiFi, so it isn't required. You do have to make sure your WiFi supplies 2.4Ghz bandwidth, as the camera only connects to that.
That intro was great 😂
Haha, thanks mate. Glad you liked it. 🤪
Could you use it with home assistant?
There is no HA integration for Zosi devices that I know of 😔
@@LarsKlintTech is there a option to create a viewing link sorta like unifi cameras? If so you can probably atleast have it for viewing sake
@@TheDmankl there's no RTSP feed, so unlikely.
@@LarsKlintTech well still very nice for the price, I was thinking if there was a feed you can link for a network recording would be cool
I'm hoping Ubiquiti will make a nice decent smaller ptz camera👍
Yeah, that would be ideal. I'm not sure I can justify the big massive PTZ.
I heard that they will make a smaller one soon, that big black 4k ptz camera is a bit too much for residential homes
@@zoleeeagle9339 I mean, I'd put it up if it magically appeared on my doorstep, but yes, a smaller one would be appreciated.
Nicely done
Personally, I found Zosi hardware and support quality to be very poor. I much prefer Reolink.
Funny you should mention it, I have a Reolink trail cam (Keen) that I am setting up soon ☺🦘
Have they been taking Troy's password purgatory and applied it to their sign up process? 🤣
Hahahaha, it does seem that way. Definitely room for improvement.

My best Camera is a self tracking PTZ, works great and followes you around etc ,
I think this camera can do that too. I didn't explore that setting in the video.
I would love to know if this camera does Human tracking. Because I'm planning on getting 2. Either the C289 or C296. Dont know which is better.
@@anandramlochan9835 Yes, the C296 does do human tracking for motion events.
It seems Zosi and my union use the same lackluster password requirements of no special characters, need a capitalized letter and a number.
I think this camera falls into the “you get what you pay for” think I will stick with UniFi cameras. Love the videos though
Thanks Sam 😊
Absolutely. The image quality is pretty good, and some of the features work well. Others, not so much.
this guys funny Sub

Less than $30 USD with free shipping on eBay. Can't be beat for the money.
Yes, that is a good deal. 👌
I would never buy that camera, but thanks for your efforts 😂
Haha, fair enough. I like knowing what is around and how things compare.
