I arranged a version of Scarlet in 2017 to try and show my, at the time, largely 'anti metal' audience that heavy music is full of the most amazing melodies and themes. It's so wild that we've been able to collab on this properly now. Absolutely timeless song
@@decadeca there's a video where he interposed Mr. Sotellos voice on his acoustic. I've been playing ANM that way ever since. Very good acoustic song. Edit: found it. It was some guy named Simon Macias II. The Amaj7 (x-0-11-13-10-12) into F#m9 (x-9-11-13-10-0) then Cmaj9 (x-4-6-8-0-0) appregio ring at the end is the stuff of my ethereal dream.
I just uploaded a mostly acoustic/GarageBand periphery v medley. Nothing amazing like Mike Dawes but just wanted to play some of my favourite moments from P5. If you could check it out would be appreciated cheers! 😊
This is gorgeous, and I appreciate how much more "stripped down" the vocals are compared to the It's Only Smile acoustic. And yes, of course the vocals are still processed, but there's not a ton of effects over them this time.
@@rae5425 It caught me off guard at first, but it is greatly reduced as the song goes on which gives it a really cool feel and progression. And the fact it's so unexpected at the start immediately gets your (well at least my) attention. Good stuff.
mike dawes is the real star of this acoustic release. spencer does what we know him to do amazingly, and mike dawes composes the song for acoustic guitar in a way the original composers just couldn't do. fuck yes mike you rock.
I remember the first time that I heard the original version of Scarlet on Periphery II. The way that the vocal melodies and music intertwined brought tears to my eyes, and it was a night I'll never forget. This version did the same. So beautiful
When I saw Mike preform this song live at one of your concerts I was thinking it would be nice to have a official version of it released and here it is! It keeps me going thanks
This mix is better than 'It's only smiles'...i can clearly hear Mike's beautiful playing which should have been there on the previous release too. This is emotion, love it ❤ PS: If you guys could release an acoustic/stripped version of 'The way the news goes' with Mike it would be cherry on top 😌
First Periphery song that really got me hooked on them back in the day. Hearing this live on stage after enjoying Mike's rendition for so long gave me feelings that are really hard to replicate. Love this art guys. Great job.
This is SO good! Spencer's voice is as on point as it can be and the acoustic interpretation by Mike is great! One of my favorite periphery songs and such a great version!
Thanks for this! Am I the only one who’d appreciate a one take version with just one camera angle, no keys, no backing vocals etc? Just these two guys. Pure, as live as it can be and especially performing together at the same time. Anyone else?
Erised, Jetpacks, Light, Ow My Feelings, Mile Zero, Summer Jam, Masamune, Heavy Heart, Alpha, Captain On, etc, they'd all work very well in this style! (with some reimagining, sure)
Great music will always transcend genres. I am so grateful to be alive at a moment where my favorite songs are interpreted by so many skilled and talented individuals. Makes you be really glad you live in a world full of potential
Flawless performance. Great harmonies, and melodies. Loved the camera work and the the smooth silky sounds. Excellent job. I want to play it several times and flow with the groove. xx Thank you!!
You have a band with 3 spectacular guitar players and you found another one with incredible talent. I love this acoustic versions. btw the spencer's voice MY GOD.
I LOVE this so much and it really brings out the sensitivity and tenderness that Scarlet and many other Periphery songs possess underneath the massive productions. Periphery's usual balls-to-the-wall production is absolutely epic and I would NEVER ask for that to change - but I really really hope they integrate this softness into their main songs. This area of dynamics, where Spencer is almost whispering and you can actually hear the silver in his voice - my GOD it is inspiring and I feel it has SO MUCH potential in their main material. This sounds crazy but now I imagined a post-rock/metal version of scarlet that uses THIS vibe (around 3:15). Falsetto vocals and gentle singing, but their usual gigantic guitars behind. I'm not so entitled a fan to beg for that right after they've released this - my point is I just want to see this side of Spencer in their main music and main releases. I have been a Periphery fan for well over a decade and they've been in my top 3 fav bands the entire time - but the main reason my other bands like Breaking Benjamin, Karnivool, and more recently Sleep Token are up there with Periphery is because they regularly use THIS kind of softness along with their main heavy vibe. I really really hope this song does well and inspires the band to imbibe this into their main productions. Absolutely spectacular song, Mike Dawes is a god, Spencer is a god, I thank everyone involved in this release. Cannot, absolutely cannot wait for what ya'll do next
...so beautifully performed! so light, tender and transparent... especially when you know how powerful the original track is. many thanks guys for releasing! "great job! DO MORE!" *)
I have been waiting for this since P2 when Mark was played a small excerpt of Scarlet on Acousitic, during the making of video. Insane it's 2024 and I'm seeing it now. I love life.

Your acoustic version all those years ago is a hood classic
You are the best! ❤
And you succeeded
Congrats for this! Killing it in the live shows too. Nice work!
Phenomenal job. I saw it earlier this year. I have friends, family and gf listening. 👍
headbanging
in slow motion
headswooning
YEAH!
and now we want an entire acoustic album with the best of Periphery
An acoustic Mile Zero would be a tearjerker
up!!
would offer up my first born son for this
Luck As a Constant would top bill the chart.
In this music video Spencer’s voice goes up like an angel and down like a wounded ox
Deep cut reference!
Love that shit

@@maxalaintwo3578 There it is
Lol nice quote
Nostalgia.
All New Materials?
Heavy Heart?
Both would be awesome acoustic
@@HugoStiglitz88I've been playing ANM on acoustic for many years. It goes!
I thought exactly the same. All new materials was a better candidate than these two.

Totally!
Juggernaut are absolutely my favourite Periphery Albums, still are.
Would be sooo keen on both of these. C'mon bois, make it happen!
Chicago: KETCHUP DOESNT BELONG ON HOTDOGS
Halpern: ill fucking do it again
And so will I. Matt's are always right. Fuck mustard
More proof that "a good song" is always gonna be that, no matter the package you present it in.
nah I can make it sound shit easily
Now presenting Scarlet - the mumble rap and kazoo version
I think I can speak for everyone when I ask for more acoustic periphery. Pls
Definitely not

I giggled the first time I listened to it. That one was for us. Thanks Sponce!

👏👏 I just appreciate the musicianship. Guitarists can shape their tone however they want. Why shouldn’t a vocalist be able to as well? 🤷🏻♂️
Today, we are all Periphery.
I would love similar renditions of Lune and Sentient Glow.
Lune would make me cry
Satellites
All New Materials too
This song needs to become the "More than Words" of our era.
Fantastic ❤
My girlfriend and I have had this EP on repeat. The acoustic versions are so good and these were always are two favourite songs to begin with.
EP?
@@gonzoe123Two songs EP
Not to make that sound stupid, but, a single release can be accompanied with a few other singles as well.
It was really nostalgic hearing this, takes me back to when I was first getting into P2. Simpler times in life as well
Spencer's vocals is my life goal.
Enough to make a grown man cry 😢😢 So Beautiful
Scarlet will forever be my favorite Periphery song. Love this version of it!

Same here! Amazing how music can evoke such an emotional response. This is why I love Periphery!
What a great day to have ears.
This is un fucking believable. That was absolutely perfect.
I saw them perform this version in Denver back in October. So cool they made this into a video.
When I saw Mike preform this song live at one of your concerts I was thinking it would be nice to have a official version of it released and here it is! It keeps me going thanks
I'm not saying I need an acoustic Periphery album; but what I'm saying, is that I'd really enjoy one.
OH GOD YES!! 2 of my FAVORITE artists - one PERFECT SONG!! WOW!!!
Man I jammed Mike's cover for a long time. How did I just now see this. This is amazing.
This was the first cover I watched from Mike Dawes. This is just a pure treat.
Someone said headbanging in slow motion. 🌊
This version feels so different in vibe, I love it. Gonna be on repeat all day.
13 years later the debate between ketchup and mustard comes to a close (Misha said mustard is better)
Ketchup is better cause it catches up
As Mike Dawes is English he should bring brown sauce into the conversation
you "must've heard" that incorrectly, "catch up" already... lel
