REO was very underrated . I went through high school listening to all their albums. My favorite song is Roll With The Changes. Check it out! The lead singer is Kevin Cronin and he had a great voice!
I really love how clearly you can hear both kevin's acoustic guitar and Gary's electric on this recording. On most live recordings the acoustic guitar always gets drowned out by the electric ones.
"Hi Infidelity" is one of the best albums of the 80's. "Tough Guys", " Follow My Heart", "Don't Let Him Go" are my favorites. Really, not a bad track on the album.
they came out of Univ. of Illinois in late sixties and played at venues everywhere...Illinois State and U of Illinois student union dances.., dorms frats . Dance clubs ".Chances R" " Red Lion" ...they were huge regionally and on campus before they finally went national. and sold over forty million albums.. saw them live dozens of times when I was in college and grad school..db
saw them several times, and they were great.. started out as bar band in champaign,illinois.. until they became headliners in st. louis. and toured all over.i saw them in a small venue,,probably 100 people ,,stood right next to them .. played an hour , in vandalia ,illinois.
I had the privilege to see REO perform at a private party/fundraiser in Chicago on September 23, 2021 with about 500 other people. Kevin Cronin, who sang this song, and the rest of the band were unbelievable. I think his singing has gotten even better. A big fan of theirs since high school some 40+ years ago when Hi Infidelity was released.
i know this live version was specifically requested but except for the vocals everything sounds muted. this is one of my fav REO songs and i think you like it enough to check out the fullness and power of the studio recording. if you think gary richrath's guitar solo here was great, omg just go listen, go listen! kevin cronin's vocal on the original also has more melodic high notes that add to the song that he doesn't hit here. and yup, that's journey pictured in your thumbnail, just sayin' 😏 edit: thumbnail corrected yay!
REO has the greatest break up song of all time and no one reacts to it. Time for me to Fly. Awesome tune. Best breakup anthem of all time. Check it out.
REO Speedwagon was formed in 1967 but had their biggest hits in the 80's such as "Keep On Loving You", "Can't Fight This Feeling", "In Your Letter", "Roll With The Changes", "Don't Let Him Go", "Keep The Fire Burnin'", "Sweet Time", "I Do' Wanna Know", "One Lonely Night", "Live Every Moment", "In My Dreams" etc.
Saw REO Speedwagon in concert in the summer of 1981, right after I graduated from high school, on their "Hi Infidelity" album tour. They were HUGE back then, with a No. 1 album and No. 1 song with "Keep On Loving You," and this song went to No. 5 on the Billboard magazine pop singles chart.
I’ve heard the studio version hundreds of times so I really enjoyed this. I don’t think people realize how difficult it is to sing live. So kudos to you for pointing out his great voice. They just did a concert here with Styx. Just shows the staying power of these 80’s bands.
REO's story is definitely "a game of two halves Harri 🙂" This track and its partner "Keep on loving you" were the start of the second half. Prior to this they were a rock/blues band with modest success. but after those two singles an 80's power ballad, syrupy, poppy, hair, chick band. They also became huge on that recipe. Many people will tell you their album Hi Infidelity, from which this is taken, is the band's high point. However, the truth is the band's real zenith was the double live album recorded in '77 "You get what you play for." If you know, you know.
This album helped define my time living in the village on Kodiak Island, 89 -2010. Both the time and this album were/are epic! This is a great live version, a super choice, and a great reaction!
this was my band back in the day always talked them up that a few of my buddies went out and bought the LP hi infidelity and were converted into REO Speedwagon fans of course i had the concert shirt which i wore so proudly bought from a five and dime store.
Love this song! I don't know how to request a song but I have one I would love to hear your opinion of. It's Konstantine by Something Corporate. When they split up one of the guys started Jack's Mannequin. They were going to film the making of the album but in the first week he found out he had leukemia. So he wrote Swim and it's awesome ❤
I saw them about 20yrs ago here at the Fowlerville fair in MI. for $10 per ticket. I went with my daughter who was shocked that the singer was a man, she had always thought it was a woman.
One of the best from '67 til present. 55 yr and still going strong. Think on that kids. They have been playing together linger then most of u have been alive. Always like their stuff when i come across it, I say come across it b/c I listen to so much. Like it all but for most love songs (as Ricky said Just another love song coming down in 3/4 harmony) modern country and elector or what one woman knew many a yr ago called it musick. I loved it when ear buds came out. Let me listen all day while I do my work around My Ranch/farm. Most of time used to wear ear muffs to protect ears. Now it is put in the ear buds. Yes I like Opera. German is best then English (not much of it) Italian is ok so is Spanish and French. Oriental is hard to follow but if u just listen to the notes u can get through it. Bach dont think much of But back to REO. It was my senior yr HS when they came out. I heard of them and made a road trip to Cho to see what they were. Even then with what his face doing lead they were good. Ya i was a kid with a job and money the summer I got out of high school. I always had a job but that summer was my first real full time job. It paid $130/wk when mot jobs paid but $80/wk for men who had been working for 30 yr at a job. The hours where long 12 hr/da 6 da/week. I had a car and one Sat night took that road trip. young kid could do that drive to Cho and back in 48hr. Did not go alone. 3 of us made the trip, One slept while one drove and one made sure the driver stayed alert. Not a little compact. We had a 58 Cady
Harri.... you’re talking about REO Speedwagon... that’s Journey behind you in the picture...
That was the first thing I thought too!
REO was very underrated . I went through high school listening to all their albums. My favorite song is Roll With The Changes. Check it out! The lead singer is Kevin Cronin and he had a great voice!
Agree. Interesting side note, Kevin’s brother, Sean Cronin, was a meteorologist in my area, Wausau, WI.
Not in Kansas ❤we loved them n I saw them 3 times n Kansas City
The unheralded Gary Richrath on lead guitar. Another great Chicago band.
Actually from Champaign, IL
One of my favorites. The early 80's were great for me
Wow....great live version. Always loved this song...and it does sound much like the studio version
I really love how clearly you can hear both kevin's acoustic guitar and Gary's electric on this recording. On most live recordings the acoustic guitar always gets drowned out by the electric ones.

Cynthia, this is a great choice. I’ve always loved this song and this performance is wonderful! Nice reaction Harri 🌺✌️
thank you for changing the photo to the right band. Both great bands but this is REO.

Great song!
One of those special rock bands of the 1970’s with the ability to perform live as well as their great recordings!
saw them in 1981, one of my favourites. check out a ballad, Time For Me To Fly.
Harri your picture is of Journey, not REO.
I noticed that as well.....
😂😂😀

Love R.E.O., how about Time for Me to Fly!
TOUGH GUYS is one of my favorites from the Hi Infidelity album. Gary Richrath was an awesome guitarist.
I’ve heard the studio version hundreds of times so I really enjoyed this. I don’t think

Great band! So much power and good energi. I like it! 💯👍
The posting for this has a picture of Journey, not REO SPEEDWAGON! 😉😉😉
This live is so close to the recorded version, mad
Love your perspectives and channel. The thumbnail for this reaction has a picture of Journey instead of Reo Speedwagon. Thought you should know ;)
One of my old favorites. One of few bands I was able to see live. Thanks!

Great choice Cynthia.
I never saw a live version they sound great.

You need to react to "Take hold of the flame" live in Tokyo
My favorite REO song is Time for me Fly. Would love to share the reaction with you!
I liked the songs they put out under the pseudonym Journey.
this was my band back in the day always talked them up that a few of my buddies went out and bought the LP hi infidelity and were converted into REO Speedwagon fans of course i had the concert shirt which i wore so proudly bought from a five and dime store.
RIP Gary..

REO Speedwagon are r great live but I prefer the studio version that's just me. Great song either way
Please do "Golden Country" by REO Speedwagon. Epic live version
Hey Harri,
What's with the Journey picture?
☮️❤️🔥🔥🔥🎵🎶🎵🎶...😎
☮️💙💙💙🔥😎
I saw them about 20yrs ago here at the Fowlerville fair in MI. for $10 per ticket. I went with my daughter who was shocked that the singer was a man, she had always thought it was a woman.
Your thumbnail is Journey, not REO SW. :o
That's a pic of Journey... Oops. 😁
How can we make a suggestion to you for a future video?
Your picture is of Journey, not REO!!
Sorry, but that picture on your thumbnail is Journey not REO Speedwagon.
Thank you!
Now do the official video. Much better
This is when they started to become a chick band which is why I think you mixed them up with Journey on your thumbnail
Your thumbnail is of the band Journey and not of REO Speedwagon lol
I think you got the wrong pic. . .
What sort of man, dosen’t like “Speedwagon”
Studio version is way better 😊
