I'm thinking about ordering a 2019 KIA Ceed. Looks like it has almost the same system.
Would it be possible to connect a USB hub, so I can connect a flash drive with lots of mp3 music AND my Android phone to use Android Auto?
Or would the navigation-SD card allow me to copy mp3 files on it to play with the mediaplayer?
I use two different phones, one for my work and a private phone that I use at night and the weekends. It would be a struggle to maintain two mp3 databases on both phones. I dont stream with spotify etc.

You could stream music from your phone, but once the usb port is in use for Android Auto, it will not be able to be used for a USB system with music. I don't know if that perfectly answers your question, but I think, the short answer is no, you can't.

Can I update the sound system on my 2019 Kia Forte?.
@Brantford KIA can I not use the car's voice commands if my phone is plugged in to the usb?
I believe if you have Android Auto running, it will activate Android Auto commands.
Do you also finance international students?

The 2019 Forte like many (if not all) of it's competitors does not have a CD or DVD player. Secondly, the Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay systems are designed to decrease distractions, so they are not set up to play videos on the car screen.

Nice video, thanks! I have a 2016 Kia Soul EV+ and I heard that owners can update their UVO system to support Android Auto and Apple Carplay for free. Is this something I have to take it to a dealer for, or is this something I can do myself by downloading something? I saw a video from a Canadian who did it but that method no longer works apparently (plus I'm based in USA not Canada, so it might be localized for that region).
In Canada there used to be a website that would allow our customers to upgrade to this system. That website is no longer online. So in the past, this was technically possible, but I'm not sure how to do it anymore.

Does it also work if the car is used by two different people? Can you pair two different phones?
Yes. The car can only pair one phone at a time, but if you plug your phone in it'll work for you, and if the secondary driver plugs their phone in, it'll work for them.

On some of our cars, it's not set up to work like that. I really like the functionality with my iPhone. I, personally, don't use an Android anymore, but I know it works a little different on those phones.

I want to view my map using Android Auto and at the same time I want to hear the CAR radio (not from the phone). How do I make that happened? I can make it work by starting the radio first than plugging in the phone and go to the map. The problem is when the map gives directions, I often loose my radio music and it does not come back. So I have to press the radio button than the home button than the icon for Android phone. As this happens regularly, it could be dangerous as to not be attentive to the road. Please help.
That seems odd... The map directions should turn your radio down, and then the radio should come back to full volume after the Navigation is done speaking. You may have to connect with your local dealer. I don't think I'll be able to diagnose this over the RUclips comments.
Hi Peter! What kind of microphone do you use for these videos?
We used to use an inexpensive (Approx 35 dollar) wired microphone. Recently we've upgraded to a RodeLink wireless microphone to give me some more mobility.
Good video, but I really need to see how to use the Steering Wheel buttons to navigate/use the interface.

We don't have the "Type S" here in Canada, but I would suspect that it does come with that feature.
Is there any special procedure for dis-connecting your phone from your car other than just pulling your cord out?
The only way that I know of is to pull the cord as you describe. Seems odd, but it doesn't seem to harm anything.
Does anyone know the name of the deck it comes with and where can I get one to purchase?
I don't think you'll find this available for sale as an aftermarket system.
Can you do an update on this, I have a Kia 2021 Exceed 4, 1.5, Auto. Is it possible to connect android auto to one phone and kia to another mobile phone.
We don't have that model in Canada, where I am. I think once you're connected to Android auto, that's the only phone that will be connected to the car.

I'm not sure how to do that.... that's interesting. I'm wondering if the language is tied to your phone? Maybe there's a setting in your phone. I'm sorry, I don't have a good answer for that question.
my phone kept disconnecting on a journey, so was having to unplug then plug back in to reconnect, which it did and worked for a short time, but kept doing it, but not very good if it keeps doing that, did try a different cable incase it was that but no it still did it. It is a new car (2020) and a Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016).
Just wanted to use it for navigation.
There has been a known issue with some Android phones. A future Android update will fix that issue. What you're describing seems like it could be fixed by that upcoming software update. Make sure your phone and apps are all up to date. That may help.
Do you know if there will be an update to use Android auto wireless?
I don't know if Wireless Android Auto will be available on older vehicles, but we do have some current model year vehicles which will receive a software update allowing the feature in the future.
Just a question please, do I have to be online constantly to use sound commands, GPS ?
If you want to use Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, you will require a data connection. Having said that, the maps don't use as much data as some people think they do.

Yeah, this is one of the most underrated feature advancements in new cars. Once you use it, you realize it's potential. Lots of great features, and the ability to add features over time.

Can u download music from a flash drive?
I believe you can only play music from the flash drive if it's plugged in. Some of our older vehicles had a hard drive, I believe the newer vehicles do not have that.

On the 2019 Optima, you can get to this display through your steering wheel buttons. Use the menu button beside your Cruise button to cycle between menus, and go to the Lane Keeping Assist menu. Then scroll down and you'll see Tire Pressure Monitoring information.

How to turn sound up on gps
I'm having issues, when android auto starts up the screen in my car goes to Google maps instead of the android auto main page and this doesn't allow me to respond to text messages
My understanding is that Android Auto has been updated. I'll be looking to learn more and make a video soon when I'm comfortable that I know the product inside and out.

Umm ... I bought a 2019 Forte LXS and it didn't come standard with heated seats and steering wheel.
I'm assuming that you don't live in Canada. Our trims here, are different than your trims in other countries.

Probably? I'm not 100% sure, but I would think so.
Can I use the voice commands to call someone while connected to bluetooth but not android auto?
You should be able to. You may have to adjust your settings in the Google App on your Android phone to allow voice commands.
Right but when I press the voice command button on the steering wheel it says "must be connected to android auto". On most cars you can use voice commands to call someone while just connected to bluetooth, otherwise that sort of defeats the purpose of being connected hands free if you cant call someone while driving because you cant scroll through numbers manually while driving
When I hop in the Kia Rio in our showroom, I can press the button and say "Call Brantford Kia" (Brantford Kia is in my contact list) and the Bluetooth system does call. Pressing and holding the steering wheel button can activate Siri on Apple devices, but you should still be able to make calls by voice. That's my experience.
When I have my phone plugged in using android auto and I have an alarm go off on my phone my pandora stops playing music. It still shows the scroll bar going like the song is playing but no sound. Any idea what could be causing this?
I'm not sure... some apps are not compatible with Android Auto. I would assume that an incompatible app could cause odd behaviour within the system, but I'm really not sure.

That's possible. Android Auto only allows certain apps to work on the platform. It may add apps in the future, but it's certainly possible that the Samsung Music App doesn't work at this point.

its not letting me download my contacts on phone
I have a 2020 forte. App is downloaded but when I plug in the USB to my phone the icon on the car screen doesn't highlight. Idk what to do
Go to the SETTINGS menu, and look for PHONE PROJECTION, tap that, and look for the check box that says Enable Android Auto, or Enable Apple CarPlay. Once you click that check box, everything will work. (my exact words may not match as I'm going off the top of my head, but it will be close enough for you to be able to follow, and get what you want)

@@Outatime86176 Hmmm... If it's there, but still greyed out, then I'm not familiar with that issue. If it's the same colour or brightness as all of the other icons, then make sure you're using the factory cord that came with the phone, or a very high quality cord. The most common issue with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is just that people aren't using the proper cord, but based on your original comment, that doesn't seem to be your issue. I'm stumped. You may want to check with your dealer just to make sure there isn't a glitch or an issue. I've never seen that issue before.
How do i get rid of the "destinations"? I don't want how far away from Home i am always on the screen, is there a way to hide that?
If you're talking about the "cards" on the home screen, you can swipe them off the screen.

I don't want how far away from home i am always displayed on the screen, or how far away some random destination is just because I've looked it up or been there before. Is there a way to hide/remove that from the Navigation screen? Thanks again.
@@tonymatthews6657 I'm not sure how to get rid of those. It would be a setting in your google account or phone, but they put those there so that you're one click away from frequent destinations.

Its just your phones charging cable.

That's not how Android Auto or Apple CarPlay are designed to work. Simply mirroring your screen would create a distraction. Everything about these systems are designed to give you many of the features of your phone but in a less distracting manner. So the short answer, is no, but there's a reason for that.

Great question. So this was filmed in 2018 and is now a little out of date. Android has updated the system since then. As soon as I have an Android phone to use, I'll try to film an updated version of this video.

Ive got a auto ,,on just Radio..no modern screen ,just have app on phone,,blue tooth and thats it ,,i dont plug in
When i connect my Android it doesn't show spotify like the video. No messaging app either. Only google play. How can i solve this. Anyone with the same problem
First you need to make sure you have those apps on your phone. On occasion I've run into people that do not have Spotify on their phones, and then expect it to be on Android Auto. The Android Auto system can only move an App to your dash if it's already on your phone. After that, there may be a setting that allows you to use that app in Android Auto, so you may need to try that.

Yes, that would be a setting in your phone. Likely in the app.
