I can't complain. 06 Highlander AWD limited 335k. 07 Tundra SR5 5.7 287k. Both still rocking!!
I had a 99 Camry bought used with 75k miles. Drove it to around 250K doing basic oil changes and brakes, and it was finally killed by a young inattentive driver who ran into her side. Currently own an 06 Avalon, Bought it used with 132K on it. 5 years on, now with around 230k, still running strong. Maintenance performed since owning it: oil changes, brakes, coolant flush and new water pump. Those two vehicles were purchased as my daily drivers. In between them, after the Camry was totaled, I leased a 2014 Hyundai Sonata SE 2.0T. Drove it out of the lot, got home. Started it up the next morning, and heard a rod knock. Returned it to the dealer the next day, and to make a long story short, it got its engine replaced (Known problem with those engines at that time). I will NEVER buy another Hyundai/Kia/Genesis for as long as I live; same as VW/Audi/Porsche and Ford.
I can't verify for Toyota, but can for Kia - I bought a new 2010 Kia Soul+ in June 2009, and owned it for 10 years - zero (0) issues, one battery, one set of tires - 136K miles - general maintenance. Traded for a 2019 Kia Forte LXS that has lasted 4 years now - one car battery and zero issues. Can't complain.
My mom had a 2016 Kia Optima and the engine caught fire on the highway driving to p.a from nyc and they told her it was her they couldn’t pay cuz it was to much damage to determine where the fire started even tho that engine was recalled and they gave it back to her a few weeks before saying it was fine

Dream on Kia. I am glad some company aspires to make high quality cars. But this endeavor will take a lot of effort and a lot of time. And Toyota is not going to stop raising the bar. But honestly, any car company that is not trying hard to improve the reliability of their vehicles will go out of business.
True these companies need to continually innovate and improve otherwise become extinct
Looked at a 2022 Kia Telluride and they are still using old problematic engine designs in modern SUVs. Despite this, it ranked fairly high in predicted reliability.
Goodbye Land Rover then LOL !! I have one, just 22,700 miles has broken down twice, both times while travelling in Europe.

My family have and still own a Kia Sorento 2011, Kia Sportage 2013, Kia Optima 2017, Kia Forte 2019. Absolutely no problems or issues that were mentioned. Only normal maintenance and replacement of brakes, shocks etc.
I’ve always looked at Toyota, but I found them cheaply made, not as solid, and compared driving ability, but always ended up with a Kia. Will go with a company like Kia who backs their cars with a 10 yr warranty than a company that only backs up their vehicles with only 5 yrs. That alone tells you something. Kia always have electrical problems. Wiring with the brake lights and headlights. Best bet is a Toyota Camry.
The Camry does not carry a CVT transmission unless is Hybrid. The camry has an 8 speed automatic transmission. Not sure where he gets that CVT from but, who I am to judge.
Camrys do come with CVT gearboxes in some markets, e.g. 2-liter Dynamic Force engine paired to a direct-shift CVT that has a physical first gear. That same powertrain is used in the Venza/Harrier and RAV4 in the Asian markets including Japan.
I thought I was the only one
Probably because the corolla are cvt, still good info. I know the gas camry is 8 speed but I haven't looked at all the models and there is alot of them lol
Can't wait to see a Toyota Vs Nissan comparison. Nice video.
I’ve heard about the stolen car issue, due to no immobilizer in the key & ignition, every Kia my daughter & I have purchased has been push button to start. Lessons learned by Kia.
So r have and others dont
Cars in Canada are required to have immobilizers. Its not required in the US so the ones getting stolen are the models without the push button start
I mean, one is 27k car, the other is a 19k car... So the fact that they are comparing them means the 19k car must be doing something good, thats 8k difference between the two, idk man! I think the KIA can make a compelling case here!
Forget it. My friend has the very same Kia that you are showing and has taken it in to the dealership about four times already due to electrical problems the dealership says they repaired. He’s made up his mind to finally get rid of it. He said he’ll get either a Toyota or Honda.
Good idea
Electrical issues on the forte? I’ve done lots of looking into this car and have yet to find anything like that

I have almost 300000 on my prius and the car is still going strong with no major problems. I am told around 350000 i may have to replace the battery but that is a lot of miles for the money.
You can use a scan tool to see how much life is left in the batteries.
Our 2019 Toyota CHR bought new in 2020, Transmission started going out at 67K miles... Toyota wanted $10,500 to replace... we rushed and sold it to CarMax. Will never buy a Toyota or any vehicle with CVT transmission vehicles.

Hello anywhere from Puerto Rico blessings
I think a lot of issues have to do with direct injection.. Use the high octane, get a couple MPG better, but enjoy the much improved smoothness and quietness. Regular gas is so close to detonation with these high compression GDI.. works superbly on my Kia Carnival 3.5 V6. Kia's BEST Drivetrain under the Hood. Dual Injection both GDI and Port on this one. The Big Block these days.. No Turbo Req'd..
Thanks Mark. Yes that is an issue with direct injection and turbos can add stress too. Oddly some Lexus/Toyotas rock direct and port so the carbon thing does not become an issue
I have the diezel 1.6l 2008 Kia Cee'd here in Europe. The engine never disappointed me. Wake in the morning and it's ready to take me everywhere. First Turbo replacement at 262.299km (162miles), today it's 272.532km, and the engine is still strong. The only down side is the suspensions and the a bit loud engine and the horrible horn sound, unlike the German and French double horns that sound sharp and louder.

you can change out the horns for the doubles horns youre talking about from genesis parts
Kia and Hyundai consider 1 quart between oil changes as normal. Toyota doesn't use any oil between changes.
@@Hello-fd7ttthat's what happens when you use cheap metals for engine parts. They wear out much faster and need more protection. Your piston rings are probably due to be changed.
Actually, Toyota went through a period of several years where their engines were consuming massive amounts of oil before 100k miles. This affected many of their models. Corolla, Camry, Rav4, etc.
Buy a Kia or Hyundai built in Korea not the US. The major problems have all been on cars assembled in the US. My 2014 Forte bought new has 70000 miles and never had one single issue. Just keep up on the maintenance as with any vehicle
NOPE. Toyota also considers a quart every 1000 miles normal oil consumption. Toyota has some engines that burn a crap ton of oil.
I have a 2018 Optima and it's been fine. My dad has had more issues with his Honda. They just told him his 2018 Accord crapped out and they want at a minimum $5400 to fix it and at a max $14,000 if it's the engine. He has $11,000 left on the car. Seriously?! I got a good one for sure. I'm just making sure I take care of my car. Car washes, engine oil and fuel system treatments, only synthetic oil, etc. and it's been fine for me at 95,000 miles.
I believe you. My brother works for Honda over 30 yrs. He tells me the newer Accords and CR-V are always having engine troubles.
Interesting to compare the Camry with the forte. They're not in the same weight devision. The Kia competitor to the camry would be the K5 - or from Hyundai, the sonata. The kia forte is over $10k cheaper.
I traded in my Kia Sorento for a Highlander and it's no comparison. You can tell the Highlander can go anywhere but with the Kia I wouldn't want to drive it across the country. My Sorento had 210k miles on it so they aren't bad.
It is true I have a 2013 hyundai so far it has been very good for me kia and hyundai are good cars
I bought a 2017 GDI sportage brand new regretted it in about 2 months. When I did my first oil change it was like draining gas out of my oil reservoir. It gradually lost power and I traded it in for a 4runner. Never Kia!
I would agree they had a big increase in quality if it wasn't for the massive Theta II engine, DCT transmission, and theft problems (selling cars without immobilizers - the "Kia boys").
My 2017 Sonata burns about a quart of oil every thousand miles.
Toyota would never release an engine that bad or if they did they wouldn't keep selling it after knowing it was bad (or they would just fix it's design problems).
Although that being said... My first Sonata (2003) lasted 325,000 miles on the original engine and transmission with minimal problems. My 2017 Sonata has been 100% reliable for 100k miles outside of the engine that will eventually fail.
if you live in canada, there is no such thing as the kia boys. kias and hyundais have immobilizers because canada requires all cars to have them unlike the US
My 2012 Civic 2.2 iDtec (diesel) sounds quieter than the Kia on startup. A manual transmission on any car will be more reliable than a CVT So that will solve any of those problems. My Civic transmission (manual)is still as smooth and quiet as it was when new and still on the original clutch.
100% agree on your Audi comment. I know, from experience. Low Km engine rebuild required.
Yikes
Depends how well you take care of it
93 octane solves the problem w/those 12,5 compression ratio direct injection issues. Try it, knock may go away. Also try a thicker Oil.. 0W20W is darned darned thin, I'd give 5w 20 or 30 a shot, and be sure the oil filter you use has a One Way valve that should get quicker oil pressure at startup. Ford had this issue with their early Modular DOHC 4.6 engines. Oil pressure chain tensioner issue.
Toyota hands down. 😊
07 camry 140k miles I agree. toyota and honda are great. mazda ok. all of the rest car builders are crap. can you believe that?

Will see i guess.... Gas mileage is fantastic and has a shocking amount of room for being a compact car. Appreciate the video. Will def keep an eye out.
their 1.6 turbo is well made, its the 2.0 and 2.4 GDI that is problematic
The 1.6 with no turbo is the least problematic, but they can still die, the only turbo cars with great reliability is Volvo, everyone else might be hit n miss. With that said Hondas make the best engine but they can be bad cars too, little annoying electronics issues on Hondas.

I have owned a 2008 Hyundai Sonata and a 2017 Hyundai Tucson (1.6 Turbo) bought both new at a reasonable price and never had a serious problem with either. Sold both for a fair price at 5 years of age and about 80,000 miles only concern is no immobilizer which is why theft numbers are high😊
Just got a free software upgrade from KIA at the dealership. It's not easy to steal anymore. They actually put a sticker warning in your window for potential thieves to not waste their time. Before had an incident with thieves that broke my window but they couldn't get it started. I now use a steering wheel lock to make them look elsewhere.
The 2008 Sonata does not have an immobilizer but you'll need tools and knowledge to steal it. As long as your 2017 Tucson had a push button start it cannot get stolen.
It has been a long time since I bought a Kia/Hyundai. However, I found in my experience that they just aren't manufactured to last beyond two years.

Took a short uber ride recently in a Kia Forte and let me tell you I felt every road imperfection while sitting in the back. The vehicle didn't have many miles on it either it was a recent model. Ride quality was really bad. Toyota Camry is better. Good review 👍👍
Forte is more of a sportyish hatchback built competing in the golf, polo, i30, focus class for decent ride and comfort as well as great handeling, we own one for the past 7 years.. deffos, not a camry like competitor at all. You'd have to compare that to Sonata and Optima that falls in its class. Them big sedans are built for riding like a boat on a perfect sunny and non windy day LOL... but then yet again be carefull of the corners mate you might end up upside down... especially if you load it 😁
I mean a forte doesn’t have independent rear suspension, the GT trim does but your get in the back of a Corolla and same thing you gotta compare the same type of car in the same class
The Toyota Camry has an eight speed automatic it does not have a CVT transmission. Toyota is way more reliable, and better than any Kia.
still talking from the 90s? Kia has surpassed toyota's reliability.
Yes
When did a Camry SE AWD move to a CVT transmission? I thought it still has the 8-speed conventional automatic transmission. The Hybrid Camry might have a CVT.
Auto
Great review and hit on many of the Kia issues. I do not believe this engine in the Forte, MPI is a large threat from rod bearing failures though.
Thinking about getting a Stinger Gt2 🤔 if not that I'm also considering a k900. Kia has really stepped their game up considering the fact i would've never thought to own one until recently. Looking at it as a best bang for the buck considering if i went the bmw route it would be around 20-30k more for the same features lol
THE WAY KIA LOOKED AFTER THEIR CUSTOMERS WHEN WE BROUGHT THOSE 2019 OR OLDER CARS IN TO GET ENGINE REPLACED WAS A GOOD SIGN TO NOT DEAL WITH KIA EVER AGAIN !! BETTER OR NOT !!
Unintended Acceleration is Toyota's biggest and most dangerous problem, it's worst problem in the automobile industry that is Never mentioned. WHY IS THAT?
Oh men love my Toyota Corolla its been great to me, i will upgrade to an Acura TLX 2021 tech package soon though...
Jumping on the trunk 😅😂😂😂
The real test lol
There will never be a day that kia produces better quality and design cars than toyota, never going to happen. Theres a reason for the price difference too between kia and toyota which i dont need to explain.
Life is too short? It's the longest experience we have 😂😂😂
well
@@ECPP well what?
My KIA CAME WITH A TRACKING DEVICE that I didn't consent to have installed. 😢
