Yes, Android Auto did not start to become standard on Toyota vehicles until 2020 (the Corolla in 2021). If your vehicle is older than that (or is a select model of Prius), then it is likely not equipped. Hopefully a retroactive program for Android Auto will be launched in the near future!

Hi Tahir! There may be some aftermarket options (that we typically do not recommend as it could cause problems to the vehicle). Most vehicles that have the bluetooth connection can pair/save multiple devices for convenience, so everytime that device is near it doesn't have to pair. Only one device can be used at a time in regards to taking/making calls, or playing music apps. However, if you have a Toyota that has the Multi-Media system that has wireless connection, under Manage Devices: 1 device can connect via apple car play/android auto, the other device use for phone & media - this lets you connect both phones to receive calls in the vehicle. If my girlfriends 2019 says apple carplay instead of having projection settings can we update the head unit to include android auto or should we get Toyotas entune connect services?
It depends on the model. Currently only a few models (i.e. 2023 Tundra) offer wireless CarPlay. Most models do require the cord to operate CarPlay. Wireless CarPlay is coming with Infotainment system upgrades in newer models.
Thank you for this. I will be renting a car and I'm pretty sure it's going to be a Toyota. Do you have any videos on how to remove all my information once I return the car back to the rental place? Edit: I found that video I was asking about 👍
super weird. I followed the steps but there is no projection setting after click on general but only has apple carplay shows ON And I knew 2019 Rav4 does have android auto. once I connect with my Pixel 7 (version 13) the android auto wont launch
Strange, here in Europe there are thousands of Corolla's of the 2019 model that have both Apple carplay and Android Auto. And if its not installed an upgrade is available for under 100 euro, Toyota dealer will do the upgrade.... If you bought a 2019 model new at your dealer you could get a free upgrade later that year when the upgrade was out...
This isn't working on my 2020 corolla. And I'm pretty sure I have the data transfer cable. Car play works with my iPhone. @M20AFKS so after some research, the sedan 2020 corolla didn't come with android auto. Just car play. I'm literally gonna have to spend $500 on a new head unit off Amazon and install it myself. Super frustrating.
@belletoyota thank you for the clarification. It's unfortunate lol I ordered a new head unit from China that will have both wireless android auto and wireless car play. The install is plug and play with 2020 toyota corolla models as well.

Wireless capability only became available on certain 2023 Toyota models. Therefore, you would need the data transfer cable to initiate Android Auto or Apply Car Play.

If my girlfriends 2019 says apple carplay instead of having projection settings can we update the head unit to include android auto or should we get Toyotas entune connect services?
What model are you asking about? If we know what model of vehicle it will help us answer your question. Thank you
Does android auto work with bluetooth or does it always have to be plugged in with the usb?
It depends on the model. Currently only a few models (i.e. 2023 Tundra) offer wireless CarPlay. Most models do require the cord to operate CarPlay. Wireless CarPlay is coming with Infotainment system upgrades in newer models.
I have a 2020 corolla LE and it only has and option for Apple. Is there a way to update it to work for Android as well?
Unfortunately, not that we are aware, as this would also depend on Android and Toyota Manufacture to make it available for pre 2021 models.
Does it need to stay plugged in for it to work?
Wireless android auto started in certain 2023 Toyota models.
I have just got this car, and this option is not available.
Not all models have this option. It will depend on the model and the model year of vehicle as it does vary.
Apple Car Play was available starting on 2019 Rav4 models, while Android Auto became available starting on 2020 Rav4 models.
My projection setting is a seperate tab outside of the general.. only use able with usb...and it doesn't do anything when I use one
Same problem im having
@@whisdrop4112 its like my my car is telling me to piss off..im so tired of trying to mess with it
This isn't working on my 2020 corolla. And I'm pretty sure I have the data transfer cable. Car play works with my iPhone. Switched to android and I don't even get a prompt on my phone or the corolla screen when I plug in. I have the s24 ultra and android auto is now built into the phone OS now. It is not a separate app.
same with samsung a53
@M20AFKS so after some research, the sedan 2020 corolla didn't come with android auto. Just car play. I'm literally gonna have to spend $500 on a new head unit off Amazon and install it myself. Super frustrating.
Android Auto only became available on the Corolla on the 2021 and newer models.
@belletoyota thank you for the clarification. It's unfortunate lol I ordered a new head unit from China that will have both wireless android auto and wireless car play. The install is plug and play with 2020 toyota corolla models as well.
Useful video - thank you . 🙏❤
I have a 2019 camry and it only came with apple play I'm guessing cuz I have no option for android auto
I have 2021 Toyota Highlander XLE. While using android auto wireless adapter, I am getting the direction map but I am not getting turn by turn audio. Is there are a setting which allows me to get turn by turn audio direction also? Please respond. Thank you.
As we are not familiar with wireless adapter for android auto, it's best to contact your local Toyota dealer and speak or see a technology expert to better assist you.
Great video thank you
Thank you!
Instead of protection settings I just have an Apple Car Play, what do I need to do?
You can watch our video on Apple Car Play: ruclips.net/video/_75DxMzqoaI/видео.htmlsi=r562ofAH6qiBnFw8
Hope it helps.
So just got an 2023 tacoma and to use all these features do i have ti have my phone connected to car with cable? No bluetooth or wireless option?
Wireless capability only became available on certain 2023 Toyota models. Therefore, you would need the data transfer cable to initiate Android Auto or Apply Car Play.
My Toyota won't support it. Not sure why the others do
It is possible your vehicle is not equipped with it. This option is only available on more recent model year vehicles and does vary by model.
Hello my vehicle dosen't have android auto, there's any way I can get install it in my vehicle? Any update I can get?
Unfortunately no, you cannot retrofit this option into older model year vehicles.
@@belletoyota my vehicle is a 2020 model
this maybe a stupid question.. but the Android Auto is for android.. what is the app if i have a iphone? IOS Auto? Apple Auto? i have been using my phone for whole year without knowing that I can project it to my corola screen.
Never any stupid questions. The app for iPhone is called AppleCarplay. We do have another video on how to use CarPlay that you can review to see how to use it.
Does this work on the 2020 corolla hybrid? The dealership told me I can only use apple phone. Not android.
That is correct. Android Auto was not introduced until later so Apple CarPlay is your only option on a 2020 Corolla
@@belletoyota 😭 thank you though. Any chance it'll be updated? Or not possible?
@@LibExodus not that we know of. We are not aware of the ability to upgrade the system. Sorry ..:
OK I have a toyota corolla hardback just like the vid. But it doesn't have android auto like in video. Why? And what do I do otherwise
Android Auto became available on the 2020 Corolla Hatchback. You can check your vehicle's available connected services here: www.toyota.ca/toyota/en/about/connected-services/owners
My 2020 Corolla Le isn't connecting with my Android phone 😐
Hi there! Unfortunately, since the Corolla is one of the first vehicles produced each year, the 2020 model did not receive Android Auto, it is only compatible with Apple CarPlay!
@@belletoyota rather disappointing, even 2014 cars have android auto
@@roji3910 I totally understand and appreciate the frustration regarding this issue. I am hopeful that Toyota will eventually release a retroactive program for Android Auto to resolve some of these concerns.
Hi found you video very helpful to set up android auto, I believe that it is possible to connect wirelessly, do you know if that’s correct and how it would be done
Good morning Terry. Wireless android is only available on the 2022 Tundra at this time. It is coming in future generations with the upgrade in Infotainment systems.
