  • Domingo Faustino Sarmiento is among the most important and influential presidents in Argentina's history. His contributions to the modernization of the Argentine Republic cannot be overstated. And, here in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Belgrano, there is a museum dedicated Sarmiento. Let's check it out!

I realize now that I cut in incorrect footage from the museum in Peru. Those were a gift from King Gustav of Sweden. I don't know why I misremebered them as being from Sarmiento. They're still pretty cool 🙃

I love the chill music you chose for the video!
It never ceases to amaze me how often I learn about a new museum in my city because a foreigner came to visit and told me!

One thing to note, is the fact you didn't chose tango for the background music. Tango represents Buenos Aires City, and often times people from elsewhere believe it´s cultural for the whole of the country. Bonus points for that!! 👏

@@adriannuske I'll take credit for that (but really I have very limited choices for music, basically from the short list of royalty-free songs that come with my editing software) I can't afford to shell out for fancy music 😅

Theres an actual photo of him, from 2hours dead, from his famous ortopedic chair. It is kind of creepy, and it doesnt show anything, I guess, besides the old costume back then of photographing your dead family members, and keeping the photo as a momento.
It is the only case, I think, of a an Argentinian founding father photographed as dead.

And now, instead, they have this Trumpian Chucky doll - who's cut the federal education budget, in real terms, by half, and struts around claiming he's a University of California graduate (!).
I attended UCI; he wouldn't be able to pass his first semester - though he'd no doubt run around screaming it was "rigged."
That said - thanks as always for your informative and enjoyable tours, Garry. All the Best.
