I Really Loved Staying in This Neighborhood in Rosario, Argentina
The neighborhood in Rosario, Argentina, where we stayed during our visit was one of my favorites in all the cities where we've been so far. Nestled between the neighborhoods of Centro and Pichincha, I'm not sure what this neighborhood is even called. That said, I really loved my stay here and wanted to give you all a tour. Come along!

Gary why don’t you say that the average British person had no idea about these islands back at the time of the war and on the other side there was no Argentine from first grade to adulthood that has not been taught that these Islands belonge to us and that Britain had always been interested in colonizing Argentina back then a Spanish territory known as the Viceroyaty of the River Plate . When Argentina won independence from Spain they claim this right to all the land occupied by the Spanish. Good that you are referring to this.

I don't know if you knew, but Pichinca is a very famous neighborhood, because of its history. At the beginning of the 20th century, Pichincha was a neighborhood where brothels, prostitutes, some gambling houses and the mafia reigned... the Sicilian mafia and the Swiss mafia for example... Chicho Grande and Chicho Chico were some of the most well-known gangsters of those years... along with Chicho Grande's daughter "Agata Galiffi" who was called "the flower of the mafia." In that neighborhood there were many tenements or large houses where many immigrants lived and where they shared bathrooms, a patio to wash clothes and so on... in addition to that many sailors arrived at the "Rosario Norte" train station and well... they wanted to have some fun. bit (?. By the way... on Salta and Oroño streets, in 2013 there was an explosion due to a gas leak in a building that collapsed the rear apartment and where 22 people died... that day the city was paralyzed by the tragedy... it was a total chaos and for days in that area they were not allowed to make noise, because they were looking for possible survivors under the rubble. (behind it is the La Gallega supermarket that imploded that day) If you are still in Rosario, and want a little tour with stories... let me know and we will do it!

I part the year between Buenos Aires (CABA) and Rosario, and as u r saying, the atmosphere is very similar, architecture/gastronomy/culture/ppl (though Rosario retained the Argentine European immigration identity, it didn;t suffer the Latin immigration the country experienced in recent decades, and the city remains inhabited almost entirely by Italian descent) similarity between Rosario and Buenos Aires/La Plata is so great that outside of them it feels like being in another country.... however, Rosario has a clear advantage (except for public transportation) it;s much cheaper than Buenos Aires, especially in rents and recreation.

in Rosario, gentrification is very fast., until a couple of decades ago, this neighborhood belonged to the macrocenter, today, it can be considered microcenter. Therefore, avoiding confusion, it's popularly called: CENTRO (DOWTOWN) Today: microcenter can be located between Bv Oroño-Av Pellegrini-y el Rio macrocenter: from the microcenter limit to Av Francia to the east and Bv 27 de Febrero to the south but as I said: gentrification in Rosario is very fast and in about 10 years downtown expands at a rate of 500 m around the previous limits. It's estimated in 2030 macrocentre will reach Cafferata Street (towards the east) where the bus terminal is located, where buses arrive to Rosario from all over the country. (though currently that Bus Station is located in the limit between Echesortu and Agote neighborhoods)

31:47 That's former Buenos Aires province governor, Brigadier General Don Juan Manuel de Rosas. He was in power between 1828-1832 and 1835-1852. He was head of the Federales faction in the civil war, and fought against the Unitarios faction. The Federales sought autonomy for every province and the division of the income from the Buenos Aires port. Unitarians wanted to keep Buenos Aires as the center of power and goverment of the country. He was betrayed and defeated the 3rd of february of 1852 in the Battle of Caseros by a former federal supporter, Justo José de Urquiza. He then exiled in Southhampton, England, and died there in 1877. His remains were brought back to Argentina on the 30th of september, 1989; and his remains were put in a family grave in Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires.

Thanks! Your videos are like a show I always want to watch and wait for the next episode as if I was just watching any other series on Netflix. Thank you for making this type content. Argentina is awesome 🤍💙
