    Hey a Colombian here. TransMilenio it’s pretty good overall because with it you can skip traffic, but if you use it at busy hours as 5-7AM or 6-8PM that experience is gonna be like traveling on a tuna can 😂.

    Its very interesting how good you thing about TransMilenio, it has its failures but in my opinion as living in Bogota is a very good system, except most of the people in the city dislike it so much, and it has problems with security, trade inside the stations and people that doesnt pay the system by avoiding the pay points

    • @GarryMikal
      @GarryMikal 9 часов назад

      It has its problems but I think that for a city that really needed a mass transit system in the late 90s and didn't have the time or money to invest in a metro, it was a good solution.

    It's way overvalued Transmilenio uses three times the space an elevated metro would take (a subway would take no surface space). Also, they NEVER build a square inch of road for Transmilenio, they just take lanes from the cars, so yes, it does move you quick around the city, but most trafic is actually caused by Transmilenio itself (it takes 4 lanes the cars could use). The only reason we have Transmilenio is because we couldn't afford a metro system, and now we can, they rigged the metro lines so it will be inefficient and Transmilenio will prevail. Rapid transit buses help, and they are cheap, but for a big city they should be nothing but a temporary measure, while you build a metro

    • @GarryMikal
      @GarryMikal 9 часов назад

      I agree that having a metro will ultimately be better for the city, but more lanes for cars doesn't mean an ease in traffic. The induced demand causes more people to decide to drive which ultimately creates more traffic. They've been trying to fix traffic in the USA by adding more lanes for many decades and it doesn't work. The way to fix traffic problems is to provide a cheaper and faster alternative to driving so people will chose not to drive, thus removing cars from the roads.

    Jajajajajajajajajajaja you need to use it a little bit more, specially in the south part of the city. That's where you really see how it works. Sincerely un rolo that uses Transmilenio every day

      Way overvalued, it does move you around quickly, but it actually creates more traffic jams than it solves

    Unfortunately the bus and subway systems in America are full of homeless people with severe mental health issues. Last time I got on a bus in a major city in the US , I sat in a seat that was soaked in urine . Gate jumping is also a problem. The police usually don’t enforce the fare beaters because it leads to million dollar settlements when someone claims they’ve been singled out due to profiling. If I were you I’d stay in South America for ever if possible. Stay safe.

    Hi Gary I think I am the person that asked you where you’d want to live in Argentina. What you said makes perfect sense! The other nice cities are very remote there which is exactly what I had been thinking. Your ideas about La Plata are interesting also! The proximity to Buenos Aires make it a little more appealing. Do you think things are a bit cheaper there than in BA, or not really? And since you’ve been to Buenos Aires several times over the past few years, have you noticed that things have gotten alot more expensive - or maybe just a little more?

    • @GarryMikal
      @GarryMikal 17 дней назад

      I don't think things are much cheaper in La Plata compared to BA. While La Plata is its own city, it is still part of the BA metro area. As for are things more expensive in Argentina now, definitely. The rate of inflation growth has been negative since the peak several months ago, but the actual year-on-year inflation is still the highest in the world. If your only reason for going to Argentina is because everything is really cheap, that was true a year or two ago, but not now. It's still more affordable cost of living than many other countries in the world, but it is significantly more expensive than it was in the past, and it is still getting more expensive. Still, I don't think cost of living should be the only reason to visit Argentina. It's a wonderful country and I still highly recommend you visit!
