Amazing to see this on track again with that sweet 304 singing away under the bonnet. I was there at Bathurst in 1993 to witness this win and will never forget it! I'd love to be up there this year but i don't think i'm going to get there due to work commitments etc. Looking forward to seeing you on track with it at maybe Historic Sandown look later in the year or was even hoping to see it as a static display at the Sandown 500 next week. The car is basically finished and looks immaculate in the 1992 Bob Jane T-Marts livery!! There were 2 ENZED VK's (PE001 and PE002). PE002 only recently was finished from its restoration by the car owner and 001 is being restored by it's owner. Both cars we've assisted the owners with their restorations and the cars look great!

Video saved! I'm going to watch this again cranked up on the sound system!
    what a ride!
    Thanks for the extended footage.
The first video was a cruel teaser - way too short!
This is much better. Love the camera angle too. Can see everything going on, including all the pedal work.
I'm glad you guys decided to keep the original unedited audio - no music tracks drowning out the Holden song.
How cool would have been to be one of those other drivers lapping around the track out there with this car and Larry & Jack!
Not surprised to see Larry spending the first session analysing everything, checking the steering, giving those brakes a bed in.
Was good to see him put the hammer down on the second session. It was like it was all coming back to him. Didn't take long before he looked comfortable behind the wheel.
Was good watching Jack initially get his head around that heavy non-assisted steer and lively rear end over that hump during the first lap. LP did warn him!! But didn't take him long to settle in and smash out some quick laps. He was banging down those gears, wow didn't that iron Lion sound awesome! I noticed on one of the later laps he short shifted before that hump, I assume it was an attempt to keep the car settled over the hump as it seemed to be getting off the ground - seemed to work! I get the distinct feeling Jack really loves this car :) Would be such a different feel to the current Supercars. So raw and analogue and minimal aero in comparison.
I'm no expert, but did the suspension or shock settings seem a little hard for this bumpy track ? Car seemed to be fighting to keep the wheels planted.
I could literally sit here and watch this all day. Wish I could have been there to see it
Thanks again Jack, Larry and the team for sharing this experience with us.

    • @perkinsengineering
      @perkinsengineering  Год назад +1

Thanks for the feedback!! Car is fun to drive thats for sure.
Set up and subsequent handling are based on a number of factors. Principally the car is set up for Bathurst, as it was on the setup sheet in 1993. They used open Dunlop tyres back then, front and rears were actually slightly different sizes!
The tyre we used is all you can find really, its a Dunlop Supercar control tyre in 17" in the hard compound. I assume this is quite hard and not offering as much grip as the 1993 tyre.
The suspension settings in particular were not setup for Calder or the tyre and with the Calder surface being quite old now it doesn't offer much grip!
I'm expecting the car balance to be better at Bathurst, we did have the ride height up 60mm for travel purposes mostly, and some front guard clearance, but we ave lowered the rear ride height for Bathurst to help with rear grip and traction.
      Cheers!!

Fuel pressure definitely not because we decided not to run a fuel line back into the cabin from a safety point of view, and the fuel pressure gauge is working on the PI System. The fuel pressure is also regulated by the fuel reg so if it's a loss of fuel pressure it should become reasonably obvious. The G'box one is/was, the diff one had a small issue with the connection onto the sensor but it also may not have got above 50-60 degrees given how much running we did. Cheers!!

Larry looks so comfortable in there... he looks as if he's commuted to work every day since 93. Amazing.

How was yourself and Larry after driving it for a few laps?
Its a wonderful restoration. How good is that Holden 304 V8 sound

Yeah all good, didn't need to wear it out but wanted to make sure all good for Bathurst. Would love to do more laps and tune it like a current race car and then thrown new tyres on and... wait its not a current car lol

Great footage, but WOW looks like hard work, no luxury in these cars.

Can't wait to see this in person. What a project. Love how light it gets on its feet over some of the bumps! Well done all.

Yeah it's not too bad, the lack of grip from the tyres and calder surface probably exaggerating the situation.
