Hello Lorelei! I have finally convinced my parents to let me have a 4ft by 4ft exercise pen to put my rabbit Pepper in. she is currently 3 years old and has been from a tiny cage not even big enough for 1 guinea pig, to an outdoor hutch (that I never wanted for her), and now I'm saving to get her spayed and get all the stuff she needs! as an 11 year old girl, my parents don't believe me that much. this is the best I can do and i just wanted to leave this comment to think you for everything you do. you saved so many rabbit lives around the world. I probably would have never even thought of doing reaserch as a 8 year old girl (when I started watching you I was 9) and I still learn something every single day. I know you probably won't see this, but I hope you and Lennon are doing well! have a great day/night!

I love how they conflate having more rabbits with having more experience and taking better care of your animals. I’ve seen the setups for people who have 9 rabbits. They’re breeders who leave them in wire bottom cages. I’m part of the reptile community, and that’s a common misconception there as well. Having more animals doesn’t mean you’re taking care of them correctly.

that's what i call a positive critisism :) the girl has some fair points and she kept it polite
The girl is like "their poop and hay get everywhere so in a larger space it would just accumulate." but maybe if your bunny was spayed/neutered + litter box trained AND you clean frequently (like you should) you could minimize the issue.
Like, I free roam my bunny in my room and he's litter box trained n neutered and the only place he gets poop is like -right- outside his litter box. The hay is hung up above his box so if any of it gets anywhere it falls into the box (that i can just dump into the garbage.) if cleaning up after your animal is that much of a problem then maybe you shouldn't get a pet as high maintenance as a rabbit.
and besides,, it's not like lorelei says you should always free roam, shes said countless times that if its an option you have then she -recommends- you consider it, but its down to preference. idk if this girl really is paying attention to lorelei's message! its not like you have to follow lorelei's videos like a rabbit bible or whatever. every situation is different!
I completely agree with you. My family don’t make much money so my gramma made a cage for our rabbits out of pieces of broken cribs, wire fencing, and tarps to keep the rabbits dry. We don’t have much money and have quite a few predators running around. We have 6 rabbits due to accidental pregnancy and don’t have enough time and room for all of them.
her bunnies are neutered now, it was delayed because of corona. and she made a video specifically about free roaming.
Same, my bun isn’t completely free roam. He is in a 48x72 Xpen when I’m not home and at night. Hay and poop are not a problem for me, he has excellent bathroom habits (thanks to Lorelei’s videos) and even before he was fixed! So I think these videos she makes is just an excuse to hate on someone who is successful! I think she needs to worry about herself and stop obsessing over Lorelei or Lennon the Bunny!
@@linustheflatcoatedretrieve3 A lot of her problems I feel just don't need a video because she even acknowledges that Lorelei and Lennon have great informational videos and that she wants to touch on the topics she said more. While its just criticism, I just think if she has enough time to put together like 8 videos on how shes unhappy with Lorelei and Lennon, she can just spend that time making the videos with the information she wants people to have. Lorelei can't make everyone happy, and her videos won't have information for EVERY SINGLE situation. But she does her best at giving tips and information she finds useful to bunny owners (just like the girl said.) If you're going to make all these videos only to come back and half-praise them then the videos don't really need to be made in the first place.
I just got a new Bunny. Will breed her when she is old enough, she got litter trained in just like 4h I was like wut? Did I get a super smart Bunny? She poopet everywhere in the begining but never pee outside of the litter box, I was at the breeder and No she doesn't litter train her bunnies. My other boys are 6 years and Still doesn't fully get it XD, but they are okey not just fully get it

When a bunny sees or smells food within its area and cannot reach to get it (becuz of cage bars in this case) it causes the bunny stress. Sad excuse for caging bunnies. They're not hamsters gerbils or guinea pigs. If a pet as that is desired to be contained and restricted, please choose accordingly and inappropriately.
Thank goodness there are a majority of smart, caring rabbit owners out there! Your advice is spot-on! I feel as you do about our small charges! My rabbit has a choice to be with the family, in his open cage or wherever he wants in our home and he is happy! Thanks Lorelei!

Completely agree with what you're saying but i think maybe what she meant is that since Lennon has a bigger following the "messages that aren't being talked about" have a higher chance of reaching people than if she herself made the videos on her channel since she might not have a big following (don't know because i didn't look up her channel nor am i interested in doing so). Just to be clear i am not justifying her hating on Lorelei just think that might be the reason why she says Lorelei should talk about certain topics (although i feel Lorelei covers most of what she claims isn't covered either way). I was watching Lennon the bunny and other youtubers before I got my rabbit, I love the idea of free roaming as long as it’s safe to do, they are exercising and more happy, no one wants to be locked up in a cage or small area. I support Lorelei with her ideas and sometimes bonding rabbits are not easy which my friend had bad experience.
The way she was feeding pellets is often called "scatter feeding" and it helps with foraging instincts, slowing down bunnies that eat too fast, and saving dishes 😜 I do it at home also to keep my bunnies more separate when they eat because they get a bit territorial at that point.
Arraine Siefert that actually really good, because rabbits in nature spend 50% of the day looking for food and 50% sleeping basically, so spreading and hiding the food is really engaging and beneficial for your rabbits! Really shocked that Lorelei doesn’t know that/doesn’t acknowledge it!
Yep, I always did this with my rabbits. Don't have them now but do have rats, so they are scatter fed.
Tiki hut has really nice scatter mat. Scatter feeding definitely helped both my buns stay mentally active
I use chamber toys to make them work for it with brains and effort

It's interesting that everything she mentions as "Lorelei doesn't talk about this", I've heard Lorelei discuss at least once, if not more. Has she not watched all the videos? Is this an old video? I've never felt as if Lorelei pushes one lifestyle all that much. I also think it's weird she framed this and her other videos as "hate" or trying to create drama when she herself says she likes the channel. It's all a bit strange.

Honestly, I do have to agree with Pawfect about the breeding and adoption etc. I use to live in a town that was an hours drive from any large cities with an S.P.C.A, thus reputable breeders were a persons only option unless you were willing to drive that far. However, this is by all means not a hate comment, Lennon and Lorelei have been such a huge inspiration to me and a friend of mine. She taught me proper rabbit care ( along with 101rabbits ) and help my friend begin the process of correcting her rabbit care. You keep advocating for rabbits Lorelei and don't let any haters put you down, you're such a beautiful person and a inspiration to many of us. ( lol sorry for the overly large comment ranting about how awesome Lorelei and Lennon are )
It's still ultimately a selfish thing to breed more animals into existence just because you WANT a bunny. Also there's no way to define "reputable breeder", it's not a regulated term so anyone can self-label themselves as reputable. I also want to point out that even in the best-case breeding scenario, forcing animals to reproduce and then selling them as if they are commodities is arguably always unethical. It prepertrates the mindset that animals are products instead of individuals that deserve rights and protections. I just hope people seriously consider all of their options before buying animals and driving up breeding demand.

@@garden.of.thistles there are criteria to be met that determines whether a breeder is "reputable".
In dogs, it's things like fully health testing the breeding dogs, gaining titles which "prove" that the dogs should be bred (show titles for conformation, sport titles, working titles, service work, etc), and providing a contract which details how the animal is to be treated, when it will be spayed/neutered, and that should the need to rehome the dog arise it is to be returned to the breeder. There are more criteria to be met to be considered "reputable" but these are examples. Reputable dog breeders don't make much, if any, money off their puppies since all the money they get from the puppies goes back into the dogs. Think of how much veterinary care and food costs, then there's all the other things like health testing, titling and stud fees. All of those things cost a lot of money.
I don't know what the criteria is for rabbit breeding but I imagine it would be similar. If no one bred any animals then that would mean the extinction of pets as a whole. That isn't going to happen, even if reputable breeders stop breeding animals the backyard breeders and mills will keep doing it to make a profit. So no, I don't think its selfish for good breeders to do what they do.
@@dianastamos4439 I'm not old enough to get a license and my parents wouldn't drive an hour for a pet unfortunately, it sucks but its the truth. I know in places like US an hour isn't that long considering the size of the country but in New Zealand its considering quite the drive lol.

Tbh my bunnies r sisters so they get on rly well and have grown up together and it worked so I would recommend that because they know each other and it’s nothing new and they won’t be afraid of a new rabbit! Tysm for your videos they help sm with bunny care!!
I was going to get a bunny from a friend but then I was watching more about rabbits care to get from a shelter or a rescue. So I was talking to my mom about it and she liked the idea of them being house trained and all ready neutered, so we might pick him up this Friday. I’m so glad I thought to get one from a rescue to give him a new home :)

Hey Loralei, the reason she sprinkles her pellets on the floor is to encourage natural foraging behaviour. It's pretty boring to eat pellets out of a bowl for a healthy rabbit. I prefer to bowl feed my senior bunny but she also engages in the sprinkle feeding. So, to all readers, please be open minded about enrichment-feeding.
There are also toys you can put pellets into to encourage foraging. But ya sprinkling pellets is also a good way to encourage natural foraging:)

I honestly don’t know why she would make videos and give hate to this channel. Though she was respectful and not using a harsh voice, I still don’t get it. Lorelei technically saved both my bunnies lives (I used to have 2 bunnies but one of them passed away 1 week ago 😢). I used to have my bunnies in a hutch outdoors and they would have a water bottle instead of water bowl and pellets that weren’t very healthy for them. I didn’t realize how wrong I was about bunnies until I came across one of your videos called mistakes that bunny owners do. I changed them indoors, and gave them better quality of food and hay and got them a water bowl. Now my preciouses clover (my bunny) is free roaming in my room. Thank you so much for helping me and my bunnies by giving them a better life. I love you Lennon and Lorelei!

It’s not hate she’s just giving her opinion on rabbit care. I think she brings up good points on rabbit care. I never thought of scatter feeding because I thought it was messy but it’s actually used for hamsters. I would call it hate if she was calling her names, leaving unhelpful comments, or trying to make people dislike Lorelei.

Don’t forget, Lorelei didn’t start this. Anyone standing up for her here is only responding to her being to the MULTIPLE cruel and disrespectful videos. I think the creator of these videos needs to consider more effective ways of being listened to if that really is what they are only trying to achieve. Her concerns are subjective. You didn’t say something - or say it enough - for her taste, and really, it seems like a content grab. I 100% agrée with you that breeding is bad news. I acquired my tiny angel, a Dutch lop, hopping toward a very busy street during a terrible wind storm. I rescued him and brought him home to our 2 6 month old kittens. Within 10 minutes, he was laying in my bed in a stretched out position and went to sleep. I have always been able to snuggle and pick him up, he licks and grooms all of us, right from the start. I didn’t know ANYTHING about bunny care and your channel has helped us give Arnoub his best life! He’s so happy, spoiled and he plays and has grown for 6 months with his kittens. He has a cage for sleeping, but he mostly free roams and he’s so much happier when he feels free! Thank you for sharing so much with us! ❤

This RUclipsr made some valid points, but its the fact that most of what she said wasn't even true, and she stated her opinions so much. Lorelei can have any opinion she wants, and I like that she shares. It would be different if she was like "If you don't free roam your bunny your a terrible person!" But she doesn't. She just gives you insight on why she feels the way she does!

Lorelei makes videos for a living.In her house make over videos,there's no evidence that suggestes she didn't mention an xpen and in some cases there's non that she did.
Lorelei could have only included clips that went along with what she was doing or what the owners decided,to make her video.
I'm sure there's alot that we're not seeing behind the scenes when she talks with the families.
After all she is a content creator and SHE needs to produce videos that will help her along with the bunny community.
That is not easy given the bunny subject is a sensitive topic and can easily start fights between people.
I think Lorelei has strayed a little from the point but not to far.
I agree with the other RUclipsr in some cases that Lorelei has a huge reach out on rabbit care and knowing that,she SHOULD make more videos on rabbit care and ALL housing options.

The hater says free roaming is not good for a ton of reasons but it’s actually pretty good for them because they get exercise and I think it’s way better for them to bond with you if they are free roam but some homes are not good for that, anyway I think your channel is great!

Rabbits can get exercise in general they dont need to free roam.
@@vanovasmith9586 I mean not really. I have play pens for my rabbit to run in. And my rabbit runs around in his hutch that is 2 tier and plays with his toys. Plus most of the time free runs the same they just piss then sleep thats how most rabbits are in general.

Most rabbits are held often if not then it s neglect thats nothing to do with free roam thats just bad owners you cant blame that on smaller cages. Like I said as long as there coming out and the primary use for the cage is eat sleep and using the bathroom thats fine too. Some rabbits dont like coming out either or being touched. Hutches are a rabbit safe space most of the time.

I just have to say you have been a big help to me. When my bunny hopped herself into my home with my little cat with the same coloring as her I was lost at what to do. I choose to research and you did come up during that process. You teach what lines with The Rabbit Society and it is very helpful to me. I thank you because I was so lost. I feel in the love with my Remi the moment she hopped herself into my home behind my cat names Itty Bitty. It was cold and she had been abandoned.

My Pawfect Family - So sorry. But this channel has become so different than it was when it was created. Lorelei creates a lot of hatred on many of her videos now. After she nearly destroyed a photographer’s business I stopped watching regularly, and I unsubscribed. There is too much bad drama on ‘Lennon the Bunny’. And it’s become way too commercialized.

i love how lorelei isn’t hating on the girl, and even considering some of her ideas. it’s hard to be that patient with people who have different opinions and lifestyles but she handled it really well! also please don’t hate on the girl who made the videos, it wasn’t necessarily a ‘hate’ page but more of a suggestion page although some of the things she said weren’t the most likely. it’s good to see that the other girl was suggesting different things to help lorelei improve lennon’s living conditions, however lennon is a very happy and healthy bunny, who is being taken care of well and in good hands. i think the main issue was that both the girls are living differently, have different experiences with handling bunnies, etc. this issue made the girl who made the youtube page sound a little foolish as she obviously lives in a different enviroment to lorelie and lennon. but props to these two for not hating on eachother and being polite! ps sorry if i spelt lorelei’s name wrong, i’m not sure how to spell it lol
