I use 2 oz. Of Hot shots fuel additive at every fill up. I only have 3k miles on my 23 no towing yet but I’ve only put 2.5 gallons of DEF in and it’s still reading almost full.
your truck uses way more def than my old dodge. your truck is much prettier than my rusty old dodge, I will keep driving my old dodge because it just keeps going with little expense
Actually thought that might work, but it doesn't. I've tried with engine running, engine off, windows down, doors Unlocked, it won't work with tailgate button, but will work 100% of the time with keyfob or door code only.
@@goneridingparts i highly suggest taking it to the dealer due to get it looked at possible switch, wiring or module. This is definitely a fault that should be covered by warranty
@@mister_cool_2416 we definitely are letting warranty fix it, just dread the process, local dealer is always super busy. Also dread leaving the truck if they have to keep it.
On the #1, you need to turn off front brake assist, scroll down from that screen and youll see it. The prompt will still come up but it was disable the feature. I did it for front and rear on my 2023
For me, the biggest issue is auto-shut off when you idle for longer than 30 minutes. I work out of my truck and it’s the most annoying thing that could have come on the truck. I’m not sure if all 23 super duties are equipped with this, but I do know if you order a 24, it’s an add on that you can omit.

@@jessefields9535 it can’t. Saw a video with A-Rod from Powerstroke tech talk. There’s a high idle switch from BD Diesel that bypasses the whole thing though. I’d give his install video a watch. He explains everything very nicely
Thank for the video. I also noticed sometimes as I approach my truck it will automatically unlock the doors and then sometimes it won't. Not sure what I'm doing on this.
Picked up my 2024 two days ago. Coming from a 2021 F250 diesel. So far, no tailgate issues. Interesting about the DEF so will need to monitor that. Don't know how accurate the Ford Pass App is but indicating 8500 miles to empty so we shall see. Agree with you on the owners manual.
Your Front Brake Assist is what is the issue and not pre collision when entering your garage. It’s not in the owner’s manual only reverse brake assist but it operates the same. The setting is in Features / Drivers Assistance / scroll to the bottom and there you will find Front and Reverse brake assist options.
You are correct ! Thank you for the information, only downside now is after turning off front brake assist, it gives you a warning message that it’s off EACH and EVERY TIME you start the vehicle.
You can go into settings and put the front breaks pre collision on low setting. It made all the difference for me entering my garage and stop and go traffic. When I picked up my truck I was pissed about no printed owners manual also.
By far the worst option on my F150 Lariat is the power tailgate. If there was a kit to convert back to manual I would. Ford did replace the module and it's been better but still get anxiety every time I press the button. Sometimes need to press tailgate button twice for it to work. Love the look of the Super Duty with the exception of the box and bumper steps added in 2023. (sorry). Agree with the owners manual issue. I find the search function isn't very user friendly. Would prefer to flip through the pages leaning over the bench in the shop.
Worst thing for us, is the collision avoidance, mostly because we are reminded every time we pull into our shop, with the brakes locking, and it's turned OFF.. Safety features are great, but it shouldn't work when it's off.
Yes they use more DEF than before BUT the upside is that the EGR cooler is smaller and LESS soot and gasses are being reintroduced into your engine. It’s definitely a win. Be happy
Yes I’ve noticed this as well. Engine oil appears to be staying cleaner as a result. The oil isn’t turning jet black after only 500 miles after an oil change. I’ll buy more DEF if it means keeping less exhaust from being recirculated into the engine.
@@Billybob50119 Right, but if more NOX can be reduced in the SCR which would mean more DEF consumption, the EGR in theory would be utilized less thus less exhaust being recirculated back into the engine.
Manual is Online… access via computer or iPad. It’s more current than printed and I think you can download the PDF too… printing would be massive. Online or PDF is better.
2023 350 platinum tremor I’m over 50 gallons def putting it in the shop for resets. Still like better than gm😊

that seems like alot of def, on my 2020 i get about 8000 miles per tank of def, i am towing 7-14k lb trailers for about 70% of her miles.
Good review
Thank you!
Try unlocking the truck before pushing the tailgate buttons. Found this happens after tailgate unintended opening recall on older models

You can request a printed owners manual from Ford (the vehicle dashboard on Ford's site).
Thank you, I may do that.
That’s a lot more DEF USAGE THAN MY 2019.

The truck doesn't love def, nor is it guzzling it.... I think it hates it and is trying to regurgitate it! LOL!
Ashame a brand new trucks tail gate doesn’t come down. Nice truck anyway!
It was user error. You have to unlock the doors before the tailgate buttons will work. Old lady brain
Have you taking it in to get fixed? If so maybe try a different dealership.

Def has nothing to do with soot. DEF reduces NOx which is much different than soot
