How many miles on the Ford?
@@stevewalther2293 100k
Just stop already, you people will never be top gear or even close to to it, this is just sad
First, head west lmao
The diesel engines from each company actually sounds more like condoms Duramax, PowerStroke, Cummins. lol
Duramax sounds more like a tampon
@@Matticus289 makes sense considering chevy logo looks like a maxi pad😂
Lol
And Dodge's new owner Stellantis sounded like a ED prescription.
Powerstroke is perfect
y’all gotta help me find trucks this cheap😂
autotempest!
I paid $3,000 for an 01' ram 5.9 with 87,000 miles. Bought it in 2016. 2 wheel drive. 12mpg though. That same truck but 4x2
You can buy my 05 f150 for 4k 😂
The cheapest trucks around me are 5 to 6,000 most of them aren't even running
I paid $1,500 for an 08 Dodge with Hemi but it was kinda a goodbye gift from my old job.
1990s Silverado’s are by far the most reliable trucks GM has ever made, the 5.0, 5.3 and 5.7 vortec will never fail you.
Ive seen 5.7s with 800k miles on it them things are reliable it was in an 87 squarebody with the tbi 350
Similarly, our 6.0 vortec is holding strong at 300k miles. Unkillable!
Even when they DO fail, they somehow keep running
GMT 400s and 800s are definitely the best trucks and SUVs ever made
6.5's will go forever too
we not going to mind how insanely clean the obs chevy is
I knoww! I love it
It's great looking, I'd drive that all over topper and everything!
Without the front guard it would be nice
I bought a 92 z71 just as clean with 99 denali wheels,leveled ,with a mint cinnamon interior for 3500
@Mallard 33 the 305 5.0 was definitely an option for the Cheyenne in 98 bud.
Gotta love 90s trucks.
Not the fastest or prettiest.
But reliable and easy to fix.
Actually, you described a 70's truck. ;-) lol
I still daily drive my first truck I got when I was 14 a 94 k1500. Im 30 now. What a great vehicle
They may be easy to fix but nothing is fixed on these heaps.
Not the Ram though, because those models of Rams have terrible transmission designs and don't last over 200k miles often. The Chevy though is really good. I own a 99 Tahoe with a 5.7 and im on the first transmission still with 398,679 miles on the odometer and it may eat gas but it never left me on the side of the road.
90s still got too much going on. If you have a Tacoma or T100, biggest thing you'll ever replace is the frame haha.
I just got my frame finished being put on today right after the frame recall expired. Undoubtedly, the last 2nd gen tacoma with a new frame lol.
Thanks for doing this, you guys. This is so much more realistic for the average working man than all the new hotness. I’m excited!
Spending $70k on a truck to take off-road isn't on most peoples to do lists.
The 2nd gen Sport Rams are my favorite. Love the look of those trucks
I own one I bought it because I always wanted one sense I was a kid. Love the look of them to! It's been a good truck.
I've been pretty curious about why people call these 2nd Gen. There were at least 2 body styles before this one I can remember.
@@Shutchohole it originally was a reference to the Cummins models as 89-93 was the 1st gen of that. It has now for some reason became simply a Ram reference but that doesn't work for because the Ram goes back much farther. Traditionally the "gen" reference is for Cummins models only.
@@csgilliam makes more sense that way I guess. I don't really get referring to everything as a generation, unless you're shopping for parts or a certain year range of a vehicle. Vehicle body designation usually works better for me. Fox body, G body, A body etc make more sense, just not sure trucks have that distinction.
@@Shutchohole It depends on who you talk to. Most people count the generations of the D/W trucks as being part of the generations. theres 3 generations on D/W. with the 3rd gen being renamed RAM in 81.
So either the 94-01/2 dodges are 4th gens or 2nd gens. I prefer calling mine a 2nd gen. as lets be honest here. All the D/W trucks are soooo so similar. hell they share the same frames and body panels for the most part, and engines stayed mostly the same as well.
I knew what that dash cover was for before he took it off 😂😂😂
This episode had me literally laughing out loud so many times. Well done gentlemen. 😂
When Andrey chained them gigantic nuts to the hitch I had to pause the video I was belly laughing so hard I made myself nauseous.
hello how are you doing ? I’m Natasha from California and I’m single….you???
@@natashafoster8544 it's the next top gear
I was confident in the chevy smoking them all until I remembered it was a 5.0 not s 5.7
Ya but the 305 did good for what it is.
He should have left in 4 hi and not 4Lo. 4Lo is creating too much wheel spin and thus unnecessarily breaking traction
The 5.7 would have smoked them all lol
That’s just a 4.6 liter in the Ford
@@ericadams3106 to be the most fair the dodge should have been a 4.7 and the chevy a 4.8 or the dodge a 5.2 and the ford a 5.0. Windsor
79-year-old female here just loved this. Laughed the whole time. Great fun. Wish I could have been there!.
I hope you're still alive!
16 years old, parents helped buy my first truck and I my stepdad knew a guy selling an 01’ ram sport with the 5.9 for 8k. Bought it for 5k, and was the best truck I ever owned... until I rolled it being dumb. I’m only a few minutes into this video lol. I’m rooting for the the Ram
When Andre showed up and you guys started to roast immediately knew you guys were putting on a British top gear act brilliant
I thought the same...wondered when Hammond was going to turn up with something all wrong for the challenge
Its y I hated it, they are trying to copy top gear, and are bad actors lol
So strange that back in the day we thought those vehicles were fast. LOL
My buddy would get drunk and let me rip his 350 z71. Beast. I'd take the old one. His was 96. Ugly 2 tone paint too. Doesn't have 51 computers
Lol nobody buys a pickup truck to be fast
I still have my 01 ram 4x4 sport ....all oe dose what I need it to do .... don't need a 40 50 thousand dollar truck to run 150 miles perower or tow 30 thousand pounds just to act like Mr Big that half these people that buy these new HD won't haul a empty box....just to drive them to starbucks and brag how much they can pull and fast they can go.....😂😂😂😂😂

@@burtbunns2270 but at the end of the day some dude is gonna be riding in his 2020 F350 6.7 towing a loaded trailer like nothing is back there at 80mpg watching a movie with heated seats.
Those off road rams also came with 4:10 gears. I've remember being a kid drooling over that PB3 chrysler blue & maroon trucks. But then dad bought an 01 ho cummins 5 speed and changed my life forever
This trio has gotten so good at presentation over the years, this format is great. Can’t believe you guys got these trucks for so little, used car prices are bonkers the last couple months you all got a steal on these lol.
i thought that too, can't believe them, no way, especially the newer ford
I like their videos not realy biased, they feel like my budget American youtube topgear (but more educational for me since they talk about off road and truck stuff sincethats what i buy)
“WITH A WART ON TOP OF IT” lol Andre.
I love how they rag on the front bumper of the chevy yet they've been installing soft toppers.
My 00 gmc sierra 5.3L has 352k all original. Still runs like a champ. Great truck
Had the 5.9 tranny setup as a kid, can tell you it was meant for work not racing, but I loved it and miss it to this days.
I have one i like it
Ford shows up
Chevy shows up
"I wonder what the third guy got?"
Insert shocked pikachu face here.
He got up the little hill
Litterally its true consistency with dodge
I have had all 3 brands wich were all exelent but chevy was the worst out of them , ford the best and now dodge is my go to. Dodge got the best shit out right now, cars too. Chalenger, charger, srt trx, rebel, warlock. Chevy got a vete and trail boss. Ford, mustang, raptor. Mopar all day. Times have changed
Should've had a Toyota on here. But can't get them that cheap.
@@jeremyscaggs7315 aahhh they are last place. Consumer reports best to last , ford, dodge, chevy, toyota
I had that same exact Chevy. The 5.0 was way underpowered for the truck, but I got 351K miles out of it before it died just a couple of years ago. I sold it to a wrecking yard in Sidney NE. All Chevy trucks of the era get that same wear pattern on the seat. Great video guys.
About half a year ago I picked up a ‘93 Chevy K1500 Z71 with only 186k miles for $1500. After owning nothing but 4-banger imports I don’t wanna go back. That old 350 sold me on V8s
Shades of Top Gear, but better. This is great!
WAY better than the American version of TG. You guys have it dialed in.
Yah reminds me of when James and Jeremy where climbing up a snow mountain to rescue Richard.
Another thing with the Dodge Ram trans is if you don't have the kick down like or throttle position cable adjusted right then trans won't act right. My '97 Ram 1500 with a 360 V8 auto has 272,750 miles on it so far with the original engine and trans with no rebuild and still going strong so far. Anyways if you take care of them then they will last and if you don't take care of them then they won't.
I own a 1995 GMC SIERRA SLE extended cab which I bought new. 5.7 4L60-E, 375k
2WD. It is the 2nd best truck I own. 1st is a 1988 GMC C-6000
My first truck was a 2001 single cab dodge 1500 sport and that truck was amazing brings back so many memories with the fading black paint and the cracked dash ahhhh I love it
Hey my name is nathan and I bought a second gen ram recently😂 2000 1500 with a 5.2 and 5 speed manual
I searched for a manual for so long but they all had v6 and I wanted a v8
I'd take that old Cheyenne and that 5.0l all day everyday. Those trucks were bulletproof.
Lol sure they were. Whatever you want to believe.

Q: How do you know Andre is married?
A: His truck nuts are rusty.
Fun start to the series TFL. :-D
hello how are you doing ? I’m Natasha from California and I’m single….you???
I love that 2001 ram the reason is transmission took was kick in with the forgot to let the truck warm up because them trucks have a sensor on the transmission if they don't want to kick in until they have for certain temperature and cold weather that they're in that definitely explains why the transmission wasn't working for a few but otherwise the 5.9 liter v8s are bulletproof motors my uncle has one with over 700,000 And still going on the road today
@Steve Rockwell hello how are you doing ? I’m Natasha from California and I’m single….you???

Ford has been disproving “No Replacement for Displacement” well before EcoBoost.
They've always been good at making more with less.
@@itchytriggerfinger7622 it’s probably just the wheel speed sensor…
If that Cheyenne would have been a regular cab I think that race would have been a little different outcome. Those 305 are bullet proof.
The ford would've blown them all away with the 5.4 triton and if they got one with an h9 rear axle (3.55 LS front and rear). They intentionally picked the 4.6 with an open diff.
@@brandonstewart7145 they aren’t, I blew up my 5.7 at like 280000kms, it knocked when it was cold and I used to have to wait for it to warms up. Then it started knocking all the time, then I got it stuck and had to rev it and that just took care of the bad bearings, after that it had like half the power. One thing I will say is it still got me home! 😂
Have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 with the off-road package we bought new in Oct 2000. Still a great truck. Bilstein 5100s all around, new water pump, front rotors, pads, and one caliper are the only mechanical repairs it has required. My daughter has been daily driving it for the last three years. Need to do front crankshaft seal. Covered the brittle dash with one from LMC and replaced the instrument bezel, too. Last half ton with a solid front axle.
New headlight assemblies after a late night towing adventure a couple years ago and have some door edge and right rear fender rust to take care of
As a cash car/truck guy, I love what you have done here!!
I love this video. It’s like a poor man’s Top Gear
honestly, i still love that dodge ram body style
Me too! I’m seriously thinking’s about buying one.
That Ram definitely sounds like it's down a cylinder or two hahaha
Yea fr tho
Yea it definitely had a mad misfire thing going on, and a possible blown plenum gasket😂😂
I thought I was tripping out when I heard it accelerating💀
It sounds like a wind up toy
Typical Dodge, blowing heads...

Bought a 2000 Ram 1500 cause of this video! It is the best driving used car I have ever bought.
That's the saddest thing I've ever heard
@@redetroitwing you didnt hear it, you read it lol
Stay up to date with maintenance and you should be alright.
The tape deck bit was brilliant. lol
This will be a great series!
Ya know on another great car show there was always a 4th vehicle lurking in the shadows when 3 dudes did their challenges. It was always the predictably boring, reliable, and capable vehicle that none of the 3 had chosen strictly because it was boring.
But it was always there to scoop up the loser whose rig had failed from the pressure to perform and carry them on a journey of shame to the finish line. lol
I love the idea of simple affordable trucks being tested. You know, the kind in most driveways.
This will be a great segment. How far and how much can these trucks be pushed
Very good guys, nice job.
Of course it's the most common, no idiots will go put themselve in debt for 60k just to proves who got the bigger balls.
Best vehicle ive ever owned was my 99 silverado. I bought it over 3 years ago for 500 bucks. It was an ext cab but it was the cross over year, so it was techincally a '00 cause it had the 5.3. It was t boned in a hit and run but on the driver side ext cab part under the back window into the bed. No frame damage. I ran that beast to its limits EVERYDAY, most of the time pulling a fully loaded trailer. Only had 108k when i first got it, ended up selling it at around 133k for 700 bucks after i went thru 2 trannys lol. Absolutely loved it and am in the search of another one
Nathan. “No, no, no ! That’s for security !! Dang it. Good one had me rolling.
Awesome video fellas, it’s nice to see how older trucks perform after all those years.
Been waiting like a kid on Christmas for this series!!! I love Toby, he's a great mechanical presence for the show. Hell if I lived in that area I would probably look into him myself🤘
How very Top Gear of you, yes I loved it! Cant wait to watch the rest of this series
I had a 1998 Chevy 1500 2WD. It had a 5.7 and my truck had 430,000 when I sold it. It was a great truck for me. Ran great, rarely had issues
3 dudes, 3 budget vehicles, various challenges. I swear I've seen this formula somewhere 🤔
Thanks TFL, this series is interesting and you got me hangin for the next episode.
Would have loved to see all 3 trucks from the 90's, but still an awesome video. I daily an 06 f150 with the 4.6 2v engine and it's a tank. Not fast but it's been taking me to work and hauling supplies for me for 5 years.
Love this series guys. It's good to see the three amigos doing this challenge. Hilarious!
hello how are you doing ? I’m Natasha from California and I’m single….you???
My buddy had an ‘01 Ram Off Road package just like that one. It was brand new at the time and we took it out. Definitely the best truck at that time with the best off road cred. Great ground clearance, great gearing, and had tons of protection on the underbody
1 down, how many to go? Coming out every Sunday? Can’t wait for more!
For ease of repair, reliability I would say Early 2000 trucks were the best around. Ford 2v 4.6/5.4, Chevy 4.8/5.3, Dodge 5.2/5.9 were all fairly basic trucks that you could put a ton of miles on. Yes, they had some issues, but overall rock solid in my opinion. Before the days of active fuel management, direct injection, vvt, turbos, 6-8-10 speed transmissions to add to complexity. Rust was a factor though!
On my 4th 2nd gen Ram. I just keep fixing the same old problems and switching over parts till the frame rots.
I LOVE my 98 chevy k3500. Thing has been dead nuts reliable for 4 years.
I can’t wait for the cheap truck Ike gauntlet challenge!

Love the dashboard storage compartment in the Dodge...😅
Nice cliff hanger at the end... excited for the next episode
Hey that old 305 put up a fight 😂😂
I saw all three and thought the chevy was too heavy to compete. I was actually amazed how it did overall. It was the best performing truck of the three all-round
oh my god that condom joke had me in tears 😂 I've never laughed so hard in my life
Ikr 😂😂
Roman "please mark my position with a cone" 😂
Amazed that two of the three trucks couldn't climb your snowy hill. I think my wife's Pilot (with new tires) could climb that.
I laughed when he said indestructible while talking about the f150 because my headgasket blew and hydrolocked my motor/bending all of the rods trying to pull a trailer up a very small incline.
Funny though you're a very weird case being the 4.6 2V one of the best engines ever made and one of the most durable ones ever, just look around and see plenty of them on the streets..You might had a mopar engine on that truck??
@Jaime Acosta could barely find a replacement engine cause most of the parts trucks', motors were blown
@Jaime Acosta the older 4.6's are bulletproof though. My dad had one well into 500k miles. He only sold it because of the exhaust.
I got super lucky and bought a 1998 Tahoe 4x4 for $500. It's been the best truck I've ever owned. We tow, we camp, we travel long distances in it.
You guys should have a mountain towing test with each truck at their maximum towing capacity
I wonder how my 2001 F-150 CrewCab with the 5.4L Triton would measure up. It actually was a farm truck and the interior is beat to hell and back; but the drive train is in great shape for 288k miles.
It would have killed all three of them in the drag race.
The doge off road would be right there and dominate any chevy or ford off road or hauling heavy loads by far the strongest truck, came stock with 3/4 ton suspension and possi trac.sat higher and had better tires stock on 17 inch rimms, heavier and stronger and with comparible horse power.
@@ronaldfilkins6448 That Dodge was no where near close to being a 3/4 ton truck. Just because it was the only one that had a straight axle up front doesn't make it a heavy duty. And that 5.9L made 245hp when it was brand new, the old 2v 5.4L made 260hp. There's a reason those old Dodge's aren't as common as old Fords and Chevy's and it's not because they were built better that's for sure.
The Chevy is by far the best of the 3. I myself own a 98 Chevy and it just clocked 300k miles and still going strong
Hell no, the Ram Magnum 5.2 and 5.9 V8 gassers were extremely underrated. Truely durable engines

I have been waiting patiently for this! Go 2nd gen!🤣
The 90s trucks were the go to for a great budget truck. Used to be Atleast, it’s crazy how they’ve skyrocketed. Some can still be found, but I guess a lot of people want them
great job on this series guys its actually funny!
