i kinda agree, I don't like how the movie makes fun of it's self
@@littlewazz Same way Lana Wachowski didn't like having to make it at all.
it was supposed to smart guy
I can’t believe how awesome this film could have been if they did almost everything differently.
...and at first didn't film it at all, two sequels were already cringy enough
Or if they did almost everything the same.. as the first one
@@msxwindx3238 I mean, the reviews were mostly positive and they made money on them. So no, they weren't cringe because that's just an opinion piece...
They should've gotten Yuen Woo Ping to do the fight choreography
My sentiment is that they should've left it at the original... 2nd and 3rd movie already broke a lot of the magic from the original, but those movies at least were acted well, looked visually stunning and made sense to a certain degree. This 4th one is a complete abomination, criminally bad acting and story.
No other actor can say the line "Mr. Anderson" better than Hugo Weaving.
Missster Anderson... Welcome back
I feel like it would have been cooler if it was this guy in the beginning of the film but as the film went on he slowly started to look more like Hugo then you got to coffee shop fight and he fully appears cause Smith was always like a Virus on the system

This guy was decent enough and i can tell that he did the best he could. However, the end result is not the same.
What about Ian Bliss the actor who played Bane who was possessed by Smith in the trilogy films and could really do a strong impression to Hugo Weaving
0:24 - Keanu's reaction to the script for Resurrections.
i read somewhere that WB told the original writer and Keanu "we're doing this one way or another. With or without you.! So the OG writer was like "fine, imma write a film about how greedy exec's are ruining franchises."
@@AzguardMike the fact the said it in context to itself made it feel like a National Lampoon version of what it could have been.
Reeves actually loved the script.
Neo couldn't believe it. He thought he escaped the Matrix by fighting and stopping the virus (Smith). However, this was not the case. Eventually, his human body became outside of the Matrix, reconnected to the machines.
@@DarthMercanto actually reeves was quoted saying in a interview “ummm it’s...ambitious” doesn’t sound like he was confident of it to begin with. He’s also a optimistic person and doesn’t like put down things.

I wouldn't call it a bad film or woke garbage ( unlike Disney's Star Wars films ). Just decent with nothing special or memorable about it.

I guess he finally sold out
Or he's friends with the Wachowskis and agreed to help burn the franchise down. Which would be the opposite of selling out@@Logan-il1rw
Gotta pay the mortgage. :P
Id like to think that he had enough pull as an actor and being the main character in the previous trilogy that he could turn things around. I doubt it though, doesnt make him a bad man for taking a job but yeah the image is kinda tarnished now.
I think he was grateful to the wachovskis for making his career and felt he had to be part of this regardless
This feels like it was made for TV. Visually and in dialogue/acting.
Even TV has higher standards these days.
even the audio was straight to tv quality
Thats EXACTLY what I said when it first came out. Very insulting...
and the WB logo in the corner makes it feel like a CW show. Like Dawson would walk in with Archie to use the bathroom or something.
because it was. literally went straight to HBO max
I can't even imagine how epic this movie would have been if Hugo Weaving reprised the role of "Agent Smith."
Yeah, but in his Elrond Form from LOTR. This would have given a whole new Point of view on the matrix universe
he is to old. they could of did maybe a voice masking or a deep fake flash every so often overlaying it on the current smith.
No part of this movie was “epic.”
this movie was doomed from day 1. and Hugo knew it. this is why he never came back

If someone has said this was a short parody of The Matrix, I would have said yes I believe you
I found it fairly comedic "Agent Smith" yelling MR. ANDERSOOOON!!
Really should have kept Smith out of this movie. 1. Not Hugo Weaving 2. Again not Hugo Weaving 3. His story was complete in Revolutions.
Even with the Matrix Rebuild… Why would The new creator( blanked the character name, Neil Patrick Harris’ character) say “I should totally include that guy who tried to take over the Matrix, great idea”.
My guess is he couldn't completely erase Smith's code since Smith assimilated Neo at the end of Revolutions, which is why he doesn't look the same.
1) Sure, Hugo Weaving will always be the OG, but I thought Groff nailed this version of the character and it made sense given the story for someone else to portray him (or this version of him)
2) The Analyst (NPH's character) probably couldn't get rid of him entirely since Smith and Neo have always been linked even since the first movie, so instead he revamped him as more of a "passive" antagonist in Neo's life, knowing that he needed to keep Smith close (but not too close) to Neo the same way he did with Neo and Trinity in order to get the most out of Neo (and by extension, this version of the Matrix, which The Analyst essentially built AROUND Neo).
I never knew there was a Scary Movie about Matrix.

I think a way they could have brought Smith back, without Hugo Weaving, would have been to bring back Ian Bliss's Bane incarnation of the character. The Smith infected Bane was killed on the same hovercraft that Neo and Trinity flew to the Machine City. His body would have presumably remained on the ship with Trinity's, so it could have been recovered by the Machines, along with Trinity. Keep the whole Analyst using Smith to Anchor Neo plot point, so there is an explanation for why they would resurrect him too. Now you have an explanation for why Smith survived the deletion at the end of Revolutions, an explanation for his different appearance, and you have an actor whose already proven he can portray, and been accepted by the audience as, Smith. It would also give Smith a better motivation for his conflict with Neo. Since his conciousness is now anchored to a physical body, if Neo isn't returned to the pod, the Machines have no reason to keep him alive.
You are a genius.
The explanation for the different appearance is simply the matrix resetting which is always does once the anomaly comes back to the central point of the matrix. The whole "The One" is a farce that the Machines created because remember when they tried to make the first builds of the Matrix as a perfect utopia, the human mind couldnt handle it sensing it was all fake. So the machines learn they must add chaos to the system. Its even stated that Zion is even technically only left to survive from the Machines because it helps to further the anomaly which is Neo and Trinity. When Neo returns and makes his choice then the Matrix resets, the old Zion is destroyed a new one is created and a new select group is given a chance to rebuild the new Zion. Simply setting the course again in an infinite loop.
Yeah or at least some one who could study the mannerisms well enough to convey that he was agent smith. The whole movie felt like a giant meme to me
To be honest that explanation and character casting has more depth behind it than current casting and story choice that we got
A pretty cool idea, but unfortunately after jacking into the Matrix, Bane would have to look like Smith, so it wouldn't work without Weaving anyway :/

2:46 That Kubrick Stare though.
I started this movie and only got 10 minutes in before I gave up
Almost seems fan made
The first three movies were very carefully prepared, with each shot thought through and storyboarded. That is why they primarily used artificial lighting - to accurately shape the intended mood of each shot. You can pause the first Matrix at almost any moment and get an instant candidate for a wallpaper. Fight scenes had proper flow and actually showed each punch and kick very clearly. The fourth one is throwing in random shots just to confuse you and hide the poor choreography. Its lighting is just terrible, as if taken from a soap opera. Camera settings, framing, grading, music - all of these were the strong parts of the original trilogy. Here all are the exact opposite... Not to mention that the overall story is a spit in the face of true Matrix fans...
1:15 Me when I was watching this movie the entire time.

@@mechanix1228 Well the whole movie was a joke and way too woke and self aware. It’s funny how all it took for Smith to remember was seeing a gun but being the boss for a studio that made a game based on his arch nemesis’ life did nothing
I wonder if the desert eagle was like an "unlock code" kind of thing. Like sure, you'd think by seeing The Matrix "game" would do it, but even then that was presented as a "fantasy", which is why Neo and Trinity also didn't ever figure it out until the end. Like once he saw the gun IRL, it triggered that sense of familiarity, but once he picked it up it was the final piece of Matrix code that unlocked everything for him, henceforth the part where it looks like he's just taking it all in right before he screams "Mr. Anderson!!!"
