I don't see any batsman now a days who try to play with minimum effort like this, believing in timing and in placement while remaining in the textbook approach of the shot all the time rather than muscling it. No doubt as Ravi said "he is the optimum timer of the ball!"

Actually what I understand about his (Saeed Anwar) career, he was totally playing at his continuous/consistent performance... since the new Executive of PCB that time Mr. Toqir Zia, don't like him much coz he never did apple polish .. that's y he left the game at his highest peak
He stopped playing cricket cos of his only daughter passed away at very young age, that time he had 19 100s under his name. He made a come back in 2003 world cup but after a disastrous world cup end, whole team got sacked including wasim waqar moin ijaz saqlain, mustaq, etc but he was the only player with better records.

He was DROPPED..Can you imagine,after making a classic century against India, this legend was dropped and forced to retire from Cricket after 2003 world cup? ..... and its a CONFIRM News, not a hoax ... He was dropped by PCB, he waited for 6 months that PCB may recalls him, but Selfish and Corrupt cricket board sent a message we want to test younger players, so no more space for you.

Srinath and humble these two in particular we're manhandeled by Anwar almost every time they met in their careers.
Azharuddin dropped the Asian Test championship. A great fielder he would have taken that catch 99 out of 100 times. His drop catch cost India 188 runs and we ended up losing by 40 odd runs. and we did not make the final as well. An India-Pakistan final would have been mighty for Asian Test Championship. But the weaker Sri lanka prepared a dead track for the second Test against India at Colombo which ended up as high scoring draw. The third test at Lahore ended up as draw as well,as Pakistan deliberately played for a draw and allowed Lanka to come back into the game - in order to keep India away from the Final. A smart move,as Pakistan punished lanka in the Final with an innings victory. great days of Cricket.
GANESH one thing Ganesh world rate Sachin better than Anwar but Saeed Anwar brought more victories against India for Pakistan than Tendulkar against Pakistan for India.

Gorgeous,Outclass, beautiful driver of the cricket ball, and so elegant player, i must say he play short cricket due to death of wife and blood cancer his daughter, he was more aggressive and handsome than tendulkar and lara. Well Saeed Anwar was a terrific player of both off side and on side, almost all over the ground. Really love to see him when his bat sings, but on the other hand, I must say there is one great fast bowler India has produced and i.e. Javagal Srinath. Really love that guy, aggressive but respectful not like fast bowlers of modern era. He always remain aggressive but didn't disrespectful to his opponent batsmen.

i think only Pakistani player quiet humble, not a double standard minded n off course not a arrogant one. But a very dangerous n ferocious batsman.He hit very hard every bowl wheather its a its a inswing, yorker or reverse swing doesn't matter for him. He played very aggressively. Now Pakistanis dont have batsmans like him. We got sikhar dhawan but we need another left handed aggressive batsman like Anwar say yuvraj or Robin Singh.
