You did great with the clips … I enjoyed all the varied content! Always enjoy your cheery nature as I watch you while on the elliptical and it makes the time just FLY BY. You are a pleasure and represent those of us who are 70+!
Joy, I sewed pj’s for years and when my girl was a teenager we started calling the bottoms “happy pants”, and they are around the house “ mooch- ware”, so comfortable. Those flowery pants are definitely Happy Pants ! I am making myself some today in a turquoise check flannel from my stash! Love your show, thanks for the inspiration.
Thanks so much Joy for the crotch adjustment. I'm 84 and I haven't made woven pants in 4 years because of this fitting problem. Noe I'm going to try again, thx to you. Love your sparkle videos, They put me in such a good mood. I'm am isolated at home with my wonderful husband due to immunosuppressant meds. Thank God for my sewing and quilting hobby. All my elderly cousins have my quilts and I have lots of cousins. LOve you 😘.
I just love these videos, this is where you do your best! You are a great teacher and I learn something every time I watch you. I am 64 and have been sewing since I was 9😂keep up the good work, I am heading to Walmart and look for that material. I need the same alteration in the crotch area due to larger behaviors nd😉
So enjoyed your funny but informative video! I could sit in a class with you as the teacher all day😂. I know it is a lot of work uploading your video’s so thank you so much. So glad you are willing to take the time and Jerry does not interfere with your time with us😁😉
Joy you looked so young in those pjs. What a smart idea adding the xtra piece at the waist.Since you don't wear them to bed they would be lounge wear. So pretty.
I was eating my Pot Pie when you said, "measure from your water outlet valve" and I almost choked on and spewed out my food! Funniest thing all week. I needed that. It has been quite a week. Love these tutorials. I am learning a lot. Hope to put it to use soon.
Learning to scoop the crotch is invaluable once you’re in your late sixties or beyond. I still weigh what I did in high school but boy is it shaped differently. I learned about scooping the crotch from Lifting Pins and Needles I believe and it has made a world of difference. I now understand why commercial pants I’ve had for ten years are now creeping up my butt despite as Peggy would say, my circumference being the same. I also really appreciate your producing both sewing and quilting videos. You’re the only You Tuber I know who does so. I primarily sew (about 80% for my grandkids), but I also make quilts for them. As it’s a skill learned much later in life I’m not nearly as good at it.
Hi Cathy! You are so sweet. I'll try to make more. Easy to just turn on the camera, BUT the editing!!! I'll tell you one thing five times and forget to tell you something else.
Great tutorial for those beautiful lounge pants! Love the pockets...and the crotch fitting lesson is invaluable. Joy, you edit the way you speak your thoughts. It flows nicely and a repeat is appreciated. We watch you for YOU!
Joy, I don't know how to thank you. I've been working on Allegro pants, from Love Notions. I've made at least 7 muslins, but I couldn't get the back right - so many wrinkles. I was pleating them out - as taught by Peggy Sagers. I watched this video last night and all of a sudden a light went on in my head. I needed to scoop the crotch area. Long story short, my pants are now finished and they fit amazingly! You are my hero for the day! Thanks so much for your videos, all you knowledge, and the humor you put into life. I always feel better after spending some time with you. Keep up the great work. You certainly have helped me!
Thank you SO MUCH Bonnie for your comment! It means the world to me to know that someone actually can learn something from my videos. Peggy says the scoop is never necessary, but she is just wrong about that. She still has taught me a lot of other things, and I really like her.
Thanks for this video. It was fun to watch. Love how you added the extra fabric at the top instead of making a separate casing. Loved how you transformed the pockets too. Keep up the good work.
Well I love seeing your videos Joy. They're entertaining, I like you being yourself. Just keep on. And I will run this back as your 'pants' videos have inspired me to make some pants😊
Oh wow, ty for sharing the scoop in the crotch alteration. Ive sewn for years because of my height but I've not had a desire to do so again until recently. I been crocheting & Spring cleaning for the past 2 years, lol. And you already know, that not all my girl parts are where i left them 20 years ago, lol. Again ty for sharing, a big help!
Those pajama bottoms and tops are very pretty. Easy to understand alternations and why. I think they could be worn outside, Joy. Looks a lot better than what many women wear. Older women (like me, too) look good when they wear color. Joyful flowers on a pretty women - ask Jerry if he doesn't think so, too.
Those pajamas are so cute. Thank you for the scoop lesson. That is so helpful. I just got some pants finished up today. I just need to finish off the waist band & hem them. I’m thinking of a capris hem. Now on to fixing the next pair of pants. Really enjoyed this sewing video.
Hi Joy! Loved your video and pjs! I wondered why your yellow/pink/blue fabric seemed familiar to me and then as you say... "with my lightening fast mind", ( im 68 lol), i remembered i have that same material in my stash too!😁 You make me smile every day with both your channels💖 Thank you Joy for all you do!
Joy thank you for showing us how you alter your pattern to fit. I must try the ‘scoop’ ! I always have trouble in that area. LOL. And I know what you mean about having a stash so you can go ‘ shopping’ anytime😁I too have accumulated one ( not quite as big as yours though😉) but mine is more of the quilting cottons since I also make mostly quilts. And now with the price of quality quilt cottons jumping up to over $12/ yd I am so glad I can just shop my stash! I may even have to hold a ‘Shop MY Stash’ day for my quilting friends who no longer can afford retail prices. Loved the video!
Joy, you did a great job with this video/tutorial. I learned some valuable things & got some much needed laughs 😀! Love the pants; I just returned from Walmart with the pattern & some cute inexpensive fabric to give it a try. As always, THANK YOU!
I just found your channel and I must say I love your attitude. I have two of those patterns, lol. I want to make the top of the pajama pattern. I have figured out the crotch seam measurement, definitely a game changer. I will be watching more you you and thank you for your humor.
Love your new jam-jams! I tried the Pioneer woman fabric, but it wasn't my favorite for the price. I have missed you and was so excited to see you had posted this video-- now I am rummaging through my patterns for pajamas.... LOL- love ya Joy!
How much was the pioneer fabric you bought? This was less than $7 a yard. That is really good these days. I think she only has two pattern choices though.
I have made a top from the same fabric you have on from 10 min to 29 min in this video. Love your neck. If you made your top also is it from a pattern? The neck line is kind of scooped and lays so nice. Do you have a pattern that you made that top from? The video section starting at 10 min to around 29 min. Another suggestion for finishing the top of the pocket, is lengthen the pocket top so it ends where the pant waist ends. Cut it longer and it can be finished with the hem of the turned over waist band. When you turn the top down to make the waist band, you will also catch the top of the pocket. Just a little nicer finish for the pocket. IMO. If you decide to climb a tree, please video that cause I bet that would be hilarious! I just love you Joy!
Yes, I knew I could extend the top of the pocket, but I did not want the extra fullness in my waistband. I figured the side and the bottom of the pocket show -- why not the top too.
@@Joy4650B I just checked out all your videos, my gosh woman you been at this for 10 years!! Do you know if the top you had on was one you made and what it was, I am gonna do research on that neckline. I make all my own tops and also love florals, and you are a joy, Joy...bet that is the FIRST time you ever heard that huh?
Oh my gosh! Where have you been all of this time! I have already learned quite a few things from you today! I have always been afraid of making pants because they never fit well! I am eager to try again now! :)
Joy I have to thank you for that wonderful tip on fitting pants in the back crotch. I usually don’t make pants because of that issue. I thought I needed to make them wider in the hip area which didn’t work. Anyhow THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! 🥰
I bought the 3 yard bundle of the Pioneer Woman Sweet Rose fabric. I just love it. I made a beautiful quilt with it, white muslin and a tonal red that look like small very vague flower petals. I used the MSQC Irish Change tutorial. I added another row of white with red squares around the blocks, that is not the floral block. It was a little busy, when I tried to follow their pattern. Anyway, love her fabric. Thanks for your video. Gonna do this.
You are so much fun to watch and I have learned a lot from you . Joy, I also love the top you are wearing in this video wth the cowl neckline. What pattern did you use?
Hi Joy....wonderful and informative video..you always have such helpful ideas....love the cowl neck top....what number is it? Our Hobby Lobby in my vicinity in North Missouri hasn't had pattern sales going on 7 months now,,...what have you heard about this...hope they start again ....keep up the great work..love your enthusiasm,,,,,
You sound like me I don’t need anymore patterns but I want more lol. I also can’t sleep in pj pants or night gowns I get twisted like you. I like both pants you selected for pjs. You could add inseam pockets to the second pair.
Joy, such cute jammies! Thanks for showing us a sewing video again. I have one of those scan & cuts that hasn’t been used and it’s almost a year old. Shame on me.
Thanks for mentioning the date. Some do not care, but sometimes no dates are shown in the video caption and it's good to know if you taped today or yesterday or ??? Enjoying your expertise on sewing clothes, something I'm thinking about doing again!! Thank you!
Loved the show today! How much did you add to the top of the pants and how much more did you add for the casing for the elastic. Did you put in a FBA on the Fit Nice Dolman? Thanks so much for taking the time to answer questions.
I’ve missed you, glad you are back. Great video. Lol, totally agree with you about our 70 yr old bottoms. They drop below our crotch. I scoop too, but I still get a lot of wrinkles u dear my bum which I can’t seem to get rid of. Do you recommend Peggy’s method a dart to nothing at the side seam? Thanks
Yes, Anne. In regular pants, I always put the butt dart under my butt and sometimes across my back hip. Peggy is right about that; however, it can be overdone and cause wrinkles at the knee. THEN, you need another tuck. For pajamas, I do not care about that.
Hi Joy, thankyou so much for the tips. May i ask 1. when doing the back scoop,, is that to be done after the front and back is sewn together as you did? 2. When you omitted the waistband piece, how much did you add for the elastic at the top of the pants? Thankyou,, i enjoy your content and your bright cheery nature :) Regards from Saleena in Australia :)
I ALWAYS make the pants first -- TRY THEM ON -- and then determine if I need any more adjustments. I always do the scoop after just because it is very simple to do, and maybe, just by some miracle, I won't need it. LOL Elastic: Remember, the pant pattern already had a 5/8" seam allowance at the top of the pant for the waistband that I did not use. You are NOT going to have a seam there now. So, for the ONE inch elastic, I added TWO inches. Hope that makes sense. This pattern already had the extra 5/8" to pull down over the elastic and sew around the waistline. TEST IT! Get your elastic out. Put it on the top of the pant with paper added. Fold it down - 1 5/8" or 1 1/2" - over the elastic and make SURE you have enough to go down past the elastic after it is inserted (1/2" or 5/8"). I allow an extra 1/8" for the elastic to turn over, so I would fold the paper down 1 1/2" instead of 1 5/8". I still had plenty in the actual pant. Hope that makes sense. I'll try to do a video showing that.
Joy, where can I find a pattern for a night shirt for my hubby. It is a long tee shirt that hits him about mid knee. Cotton poly. You are inspiring me to sew clothes. Well some. Quilter! ❤️
Joy do you have a pattern number for the pink top? I am 69 and decided to loose a little weight last year. I lost 40 pounds and am down to 125 and need to make some new summer clothes!
Lovely to see a sewing garment video again Joy, i learn so much from watching your tutorials.Thank you for sharing.xx

A lot of embroideries cannot be cut out. The Scan n cut and the embroidery machine fit different purposes. Good save on the pocket!
Learned several good things.
The pattern adjustments were very understandable. Thank you.

Congratulations on the weight loss Michelle! Wish I could do that. I'll have to look at the video to see what "pink top" you are referring to.
