So easy to understand and your finished blouse looks fabulous. I agree with Centered ClayWorks comment that it's nice to hear you discuss the process of how/why you sew the way you do. Fabulous After 50! I love that woman! Thanks for reminding me about her! I'm going to pick up 5 lb. weights today while I'm running errands since I've been using cans of green beans to do my arms - lol! She has that one where you do arms, then walk in place for 30 seconds, then do more arms, then walk . . . I think the whole thing is 5-10 minutes total but it is fabulous! I really like her. She doesn't ask too much, you know?
Love that folded facing! I have got to try scrimping. I still haven't tried it yet, mainly because everything I make these days is sleeveless. I totally forgot about the file folder pieces - gotta do that too! I think it's gone by the wayside after having to move the dang "studio" so many times - it really does turn into a studio after 50 years of accumulating stuff, doesn't it? No more moving for a long time! Maybe ever!
I am going to go back to my AFI/Dusan pattern and give it a try with something soon. Right now I just have too many store-bought patterns to do. But I really want to play around with it and get more confident. The whole thing is to get clothes that fit, and you do that really well. There is nothing worse than wearing clothes that don't fit to make you look less than your best. Thanks for the tips. And could you just come clean my house too? I have company coming on Friday. I'll give you my fabulous brownies . . . : D

Jennifer Lzr buttonholes...darn things! Even after a lot of years I still sometimes run not troubles. In most Big Four patterns they will include a buttonhole guide. I use that, but if I think I will use the pattern over and over I take some fusible interfacing and iron it onto it first. Anyway, mark very carefully. And be aware that any double weight areas or seams will affect how your machine behaves.

But I do have a question... when you do your cut-in facing instead of sewn on and you’re adding the neck piece later, how do you know it’s going to fit exactly? What if you didn’t cut it exactly on and you have a little extra or maybe a little short once you’re trying to fit the facing to the actual garment around the neck area. Just curious how you handle that?

Awesome tips. Love that attached facing. My mother used to tell me, if you cut the pattern out from top to bottom, you see it together, too to bottom. Do you do it that way?
Thank you for another great video, Joy 😀😁

Thanks for the great tips. I will be making a set of seam markers out of file folders! I never thought of cutting the facing that way, so clever! Already using the crimping technique i learned from Vivmom.

I hope they do something for us too . I have purchased over $590 on craftsy and have not watched half of them. I liked to know I could refer back to them as needed. I purchased quite a few at full price. Oh my!

I sure enjoyed this video. You gave us a lot of great tips along with your down to earth humor! And another commenter here, Centered ClayWorks, expressed what I liked about this video, too. You explain the reasoning of why you're doing something, sometimes tell it twice - - so helpful!

Fabulous video! I really like the attached facing!!!!! I will have to try that with my next top. Thanks for the idea of pinning the pressing cloth to the ironing board--mine is always floating around the sewing area.
