Hi Gerard - Nice work thanks very much - can you please recommend a type of paint for top coat? looking for a satin finish, I'm worried water based won't be hard wearing enough?
I couldn’t recommend it as I haven’t used it but I’m sure it would be ok as long as you use a quality primer first I would recommend sinzzer coverstain then apply 2 maybe 3 coats of your finish paint.

Great video and very informative. As part of the prep do you use caulk to fill any gaps between the spindles and the bottom rail?

With all that yakking and the rate he goes at it’ll about a month to do that staircase! 😂

It really doesn’t matter where you start top are bottom I think the bottom ones were best view for video

Good video Gerard do you ever use Zinsser Bin primer? The shellac one? Colourtrend epoxy is their version which I think is better
Hi John I’ve used both I feel prime3 colourtrend is great primer it’s oilbased nice flow with it & the fumes are not that bad.
Did you use water-based paint. Do you paint hand Rail last .
APK KING. FREE I used crown oilbased satin with paint conditioner mixed in

APK KING. FREE Hi handrail last job but keep a small drop of clean paint separate for it paint needs to be spotless
