Honestly that final "you're mine" to Haley is ICONIC.
You can tell that ryan actually enjoyed Casey. And the judges were all pissed by him leaving. Hell he seemed the most okay with it, and gave us this gem. thank you casey. I still buy your music to this day
When he turned to Haley and sang you're mine, the OTP became reality that day....

Feels weird to come back here after so many years. I was 13 when I watched that season, and his duet with Haley of Moanin' basically opened me up to jazz through the original, which is Art Blakey's (in parallel, Amy Winehouse, who I also discovered in the same year did the same, but these two came first). Nowadays, I feel like his jazz is pretty basic, but regardless of that him and Haley still opened up to me the world of what would become my favorite music genre.
Of course he's not innovative as a Davis, or a composer like Mingus or a virtuoso like Coltrane, but still he opened up a lot of things to me and I cannot not be grateful. These things are great gateway drugs to jazz. It's somewhat poetic to this little story of mine that he said he wanted to "bring jazz back".

What amazes me is that people sometimes don't realize just how much talent this kid has. The fact that he's into different type of music (Jazz) doesn't make him a loser. Casey will make a big impact on the music industry and even though he did not win the "popularity vote" that AI is all about, he will not fail in the music industry. See you in the future Casey. Thanks for the great performances!!!

haley's and casey's swan performances are badass to the point where i feel like i shouldn't still feel sad watching them now and yet i do because life is terrible and this season seriously undervalued its talent, which was the best it's ever been on the show

I cant even watch this again without wanting to cry. Im glad he did a lot of growls in this one, no matter how annoying it is to others. We might not get anymore for a while :[ i hope he starts working on his album soon.
I'm so glad this was posted! My DVR cut it off half before Casey finished singing, I keep forgetting it does that every week, but usually I don't care that much about hearing the entire song! I was pretty sure it was gonna be great!

That season of American Idol had a chance of really showcasing amazing talent (Casey, Haley specifically).
They had diversity of contestants, pop, blues, jazz, gospel, country....but then they screwed it up in the end with the producers getting involved in the final decision to allow two country singers because they were trying to compete with the new Voice show which pretty much had the country market.
I'll miss him and his awesome style

Casey is the most talented musician of this group. He also seemed like the most fun. That sing-out was awesome. When he was walking through the crowd, I was thinking, "What about Haley?" And he goes back up to the stage and sings the last line to her. That was truly adorable.

@MrBroMAK There was a similar exit to this in the Australian competition a fair few years which I have always said was the greatest exit in idol history. I must agree, this one has topped it. Immensely talented singing, classy composure and lovely farewell all into one 2 minute song (plus a touch of romance doesnt hurt)

Those last seconds are the most romantic moment I've ever witnessed. They are my favorite couple that may or may not be a couple. If not, Haley, girrrrrrrl, open those eyes. That man will love you forever!!!!

I read in EW today that he was the only person (besides her parents) waiting after the show to greet her before interviews and she went straight to him after elimination....cute!
Without casey, I couldn't watch last week... As much as I love Jacob and James... Casey was what kept me watching.
This season was the best ever with the exception of the finale.
What a gentlemen. He could've been all "boo hoo" but instead, he took that last moment and thanked all the judges/crowd and fellow contestants while singing and really left an impression that this won't be the last time we see him. A gracious exit. GO CASEY!
