    I saw this back in '99 at the Majestic Theater when I was in college and it's a totally differently experience when you see this masterpiece live rather than on TV. As soon as the pipe organ kicks in, the floor vibrates, your chair shakes, and a plethora of emotions runs through your body. You feel joy, fear, suspense, awe, and so much more. You may even shed some tears, but that's ok. You're surrounded by musical magic & genius. It's sensory overload and it never gets old.

    I am a HUGE fan of "Phantom" ever since I was a little girl and during my first visit to London back in June my parents surprised me with tickets to see it at Her Majesty's Theatre!! Every single production that I have gone to (three times in San Francisco, once in Vegas, and now London) I start to cry as the organs strike up. Right when the lights flicker on I get chills. I'll never stop loving this production♥

    Thank you so much for this video! I totally agree, there is nothing like seeing the chandeliere rise above you coupled with what I believe to be the most powerful overture in all of history. By far, my favorite show!

    I have been a fan of Phantom of the Opera since I was a little girl and I had just seen the stage production on Saturday. I can say, the stage version up-stages the movie versin ten-fold! And though I loved the entire show, my favorite part was when the chandelier went up. To see everyone watching it ascend as the bellowing organs seemed to control your heartbeat was so moving! Absolutely loved it!

    I absolutely love this video! I just saw Phantom a few days ago and it litterally took my breath away... seeing that chandeliere rise about you coupled with the most powerful overture I know can be the most exhilarating thing one can ever see.

    Nothing sends chills up your spine like seeing it live when that chandlier is lit up. I remember jumping when they did it and the organ music along with it just cements it as one of the creepiest yet coolest intros for a show.

  • @EvanescentWoodNymph

    @titanicfinatic Love Never Dies. And the beginning had the chandelier kinda sitting over the orchestra pit. It was in three pieces and it was pulled into place during the whole overture. Then after Past the Point of No Return, he yelled "Bring down the chandelier!" Then it fell in the audience and sucked back up into the ceiling, and that was the last of it.

    my favorite was the show in vegas. the phantom wasnt the best but the chandelier in the beginning was spectacular. it was split into 4 pieces that were hovering above the audience before the play and the top section was on stage. it was amazing watching the pieces hover above us then assemble into 1 piece.

    • @MissGarland1986

      +James Clark I agree. I saw the show in Vegas back in 2008 for mine and a late friend's joint birthday. It was the first time i'd seen Phantom. I didn't expect the chandelier to be in pieces, but the experience was amazing just seeing all the pieces lit up and hover around above us. Absolutely stunning. So sad now that it's closed in the Venetian.

  • @EvanescentWoodNymph
    @EvanescentWoodNymph 14 лет назад

    Hmm. The assembling of the chandelier was different when I sawr it last year. It was in several pieces and it was in front of the stage (which kinda made it hard to see) and it was piecing itself back together through the whole overture. 'Twas awesome. xP Literally. I love when Erik hangs off the chan. and that one part when it shakes a bunch when he talks. Then when it falls into the audience and shoots back up. xD

  • @Aro2220
    @Aro2220 14 лет назад

    @Happyperson290 I saw the play in the Pantages theatre in Toronto as a kid...it was goddamn fantastic. I saw the movie too and it was neat to see it in a movie but the singing and the characters and the overall FEEL wasn't there.
    For example, there wasn't a giant chandelier being lowered onto the stage from over your head which was just amazing. Actually, the players in the theatre were asked to be in the movie but they turned it down. The christine in the movie was the backup choice =/

    @hawrnball 14 лет назад

    @Happyperson290 The stage version, absolutely. The movie is entertaining, faithful for the most part and has some striking moments. However, Joel Schumacher often makes some very misguided directorial decisions. The visuals, costumes and sets, while very well done, overshadow the story and music. Casting is all over the place too: Emmy Rossum was great but Gerard Butler and Patrick Wilson were woefully miscast.
