- Comparison of Seal My Fate from Phantom of the Opera.
1. Michael Crawford
2. Colm Wilkinson
3. John Owen-Jones
4. Ramin Karimloo
5. Gary Mauer
6. Earl Carpenter
7. Howard McGillin
8. Hugh Panaro
9. Anthony Warlow
10. Peter Karrie
11. Nic Greensheilds
12. Toronto 9th Anniversary Cast - Развлечения
Colm Wilkinson's "let my opera begin" pulling an octave higher was SPOT ON!!!!!
Andres Barr only phantom songs he got right
I prefer Ramin's
And then Mr. Diva shoved Rebecca Caine off the stage.
1. Michael Crawford is funny and menacing at the same time. Love the singing as well, very theatrical.
2. I liked Raoul in number 2. Colm Wilkinson is definitely abrupt, but I love when he sings "Let my opera begin!"
3. JOJ is very angry but I like his singing
4. Love Ramin's singing!
Man,,Colm Wilkinson with that "LET MY OPERRRAA BEGIN" was of epic proportions!!It immediately made me his fan...
Again, Ramin’s 25th version is superior like oh my god that “beeeeeGIIIIIIIINNNN” always gets me 😔 incomparable. That first “I’m here the Phantom of the Opera too.”
Honorable mentions:
The excitement in Colm’s voice. Earl’s “Phantom of the opera.” Hugh’s mocking voice. No questions asked for Peter Karrie
No one else puts as much passion into his voice as does Crawford. The crystal clarity of his voice, it's power, emotion, and sheer strength is incomparable.
Holy tenor, Batman! Am I the only one that thinks the high note from Colm is practically supernatural?
I melted at ramins "let my opera begin!" HES AWESOME! he pwns all xD
Did anyone notice in Gary Mauer's performance that the pistol misfired and they had to change the line? I remember when that happened. lol
That was pretty cool.
Michael has the clearest, most pure voice among all these... As much as the other guys' fans won't like it, they're all pale candles compared to the sun that Michael is...
Micheal is the original that is why he is the best because he laid down the style all the Phantom's are supposed to use. I find that funny that Gary's gun faulted, it didn't when he came to my town. Colm, I say is the worst he was trying to hard and it didn't work. Thanks for the clip, I like hearing all the different versions of Phantoms.
I loved how Colm Wilkinson brought it up an octave at the end. I do like Ramin Karimloo, but I think he could have done with less vibrato. And I'm a sucker for John Owen-Jones' voice ;)
The Toronto Anniversary phantoms at the end made me smile. Ah, Phantom.
I honestly really like what Colm did at the end alot
The emphasis and the might is a very nice addition
This is great...I love comparisons like this, especially since I've never heard many of these Phantoms b4.
My favorite clips are:
Michael Crawford
Gary Mauer
John Owen-Jones
Howard McGillin
Peter Carrie
Overall, this was great. Thanks for doing this!!!
Also...it sounds to me like in the Earl Carpenter clip, he sang "fun SHIRT," instead of "{cut the}fun SHORT." Anyone else hear it? I thought it was funny...had to listen to it again just to make sure!
Damned if you do damned if you don't. Poor fireman.
No ones talking about Hugh who is stunning
Alyssa Hannam Michael Crawford & Hugh Panaro are my top picks for this particular Comparison!!
Michael Crawford all the way. You cannot beat the original Phantom - his voice is simply inspiring.
Yes, I noticed that too... Played it again to be sure. But these folks are professionals. Don't think for a moment that they don't already have alternate lines ready to go, for when things like this happen. This is the very best Broadway show I have ever seen. And hundreds of millions of other audience members would agree, I think!
:)
JoJ and Ramin!!!! Their voices are so powerful and full of emotion!
my favorite is Michael Crawford. i think he's the best! Colm Wilkinson and Howard McGillin are really good too
Michael Crawford is THE BEST phantom I have ever heard. Though Anthoney is starting to grow on me. Ramin had a pretty good last note but I give it to Crawford.
I like that for Gary mauer Raoul saved it by getting mad at th soldier for not firing when his gun malfunctioned
Michael, Ramin, and Anthony.
@PittsBurghFuzz That is incorrect.
Michael Crawford IS an "evil" super-villain. He manages to mask it because his voice resonates the sound of "awesomeness".
Haha the gun didn't go off for Gary Mauer. Nice Raoul covered it up though by changing the lines.
Oh, and heaps of thanks for uploading!!! :-)
love
Michael Crawford
John Owen-Jones
Ramin Karimloo
Earl Carpenter
Howard McGillin
Nic Greensheilds
Ramins second "I'm here!" was creepy ._.
Michael Crawford sounds the best out of all of them...Im not much of a Colm Wilkinson fan when it comes to Phantom. Crawford has always been my favourite Phantom
i think so. you can hear a really faint pop when it should happen. they did a good job at covering it up and moving along. if i was on stage im probably just stand there like an idiot waiting for it
Ramin - I just love his voice - he is amazing!
I figure someone would probably know but, any particular reason people are laughing during Colms?
People laugh at this time because of the big fright they have from the shot.
3:28 Misfire blooper?
@NellieMoriah Butler already sang before, he had a band in the past. But I understand what you said, he's not a professional tenor, and made a great work singing at the movie. Well, I don't think the movie version should be compared to the theater version, it's a totally different point of view, IMHO. And yes, Emmy Rossum has one of the beautiful and sweet voices ever, she was a professional singer before she turn an actress. Anyway, I love Earl Carpenter, JOJ and Ramin Karimloo.:3
also im dieing to here colm do the stranger than you dreamt scene or notes 2 where could i get it or could you please upload it?
Gary is such a good Raoul that I still hear Raoul when he sings Phantom. Great voice.
i've seen howard many times and every time he sounds like a sinister Jafar from Aladdin. he sounds amazing as Jasper in Drood but I don't love his phantom.
that toronto clip is AWESOME!! wish I saw that :)!
Ramin and Michael and JOJ
Why does Colm Wilkinson have to sound weird?
I've only seen the movie version of this so I'm curious about if this is on the Broadway soundtrack or if this was just a fun little extra someone did? I"d love to see this live but have yet to get the money to do so.
Ramin Karimloo for win!!!
Where did you get the clip from Michael Crawford's? I can't find that song anywhere.
4 years late, but I believe it’s from the 1987 West End soundboard of the full show. You can find it on RUclips. Pinned in the comments are the timestamps. I’m not sure if this part is actually timestamped or not, but I think it happens right after Wandering Child.
Haha. Good old Michael Crawford... "For once, monsier le Vicomte is /right/..." I love the way he says that... it's like "He's usually wrong, but TODAY, on the other hand...".......
John Owen Jones just sounds angry to me... :/
Gary Mauer definatly brings out Erik's madness. :) Love it.
Earl Carpenter sounds really choppy to me when he sings "Seal my fate tonight" :(
I can guarantee that No. 9 is NOT Anthony Warlow. He sounds NOTHING like the one in the clip. :(
I didn't recognize Raoul's voice in it either. (which is usually Alexander Lewis and fairly recognizable.
Agreed!
Ramin and JOJ were STUNNING. Gary's performance was laughable. I cracked up. And MC's sounded like a cat falling of the empire state building and landing on Oprah. Can you imagine? "YEEEEOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW- Aaaaaaaaaaah!"
ramin karimlooooooooo the best lol specially the "begin" lol
joj is great too i
but to me the best is ramin..
@alba0merula
I mean, the singing part, from the "no 'buts'".
I need a clip of that Toronto Anniversary thing btw-
I'm scared when Colm did that :D and John Owen-Jones is the jam
Where is Mike Crawford during this?! Broadway?! LA?! Was it his Final Performance if in LA?!
Ramin sounds so menacing..
John owen jones, Gary Maur, Ear carpenter, Ramin Karimloo. Oh wait... I'm just listing my favorite phantoms.
@jelliclekat24 I'll say. What about John Cudia?
Ramin did it better at the RAH, even though this was before then
My 2 Favourites : Michael Crawford, Ramin Karimloo
LissyDu same
I love Ramin! But I love Colm taking it up the octave towards the end and Anthonys key :)
Yey JOJ :-)
Gary Mauer, Howard McGillin, you get the prize for emphasizing FOR *ONCE*. LOL. JOJ, my fav over all.
I can't hear Gary and not think "Raoul" It definitely has to do with my singing him on Bway as Raoul many times; he's SUCH a great Raoul. He does sounds great here. I just don't hear him as Erik. Howard's voice sounds better when he's not singing Phantom. I don't understand why it changes when he sings Erik's part. Hugh is a good phantom live, but his Seal My Fate is not the best here. Actually Anthony Warlow sounds best here, and Peter Karrie the most dramatic (his acting is exciting).
Ramin Karimloo, Gary Mauer (his 'right" is awsome :P ), Earl Carpenter are my favourites.
Michael Crawford!
Michael Crawford, Gary Mauer, Anthony Warlow are the three best in my opinion. I don't understand Ramin as the Phantom though. His voice is very nice but it's just not a Phantom's voice. It sounds so young. How old is he anyway?
@PHANTOMfan08
That's kind of crappy; he IS/WAS a Phantom and deserves a chance to be analyzed among the others.
Original cast, as in from 1991? If that's the case, I don't know his voice well enough from that time to comment. I can only say it's not from the recent tours. :x
@MasterAnemos indeed.
@PHANTOMfan08 yeah, Gerry Butler had no place in the singing role, but the fact that he even had the balls to try even though it was obvious it's not his place makes me have to have a tiny bit of respect.
Ramin, Gary and Earl were the best!!!
thats not anthony warlow... is it
Michael Crawrofd IS. THE. Phantom again; Gary Maurier was terrific with the teasing part, and so was Antony Warlow with the singing. I also liked John Owen-Jones. With Ramin, I think his sound enginner should get a note (signed "O.G."): the others sounded from all places, and Ramin as if he stood by me, a few steps away. A LOT less effective.
You forgot Gerard Butler..
+bryce mcconel ha ha ha
bryce mcconel that's a joke right? By far the worst singer of all phantoms, dude can't belt at all, and pitch correction couldn't even save him
@@thatperformer3879 Now what you said is a joke!
Thatperformer387 Not at all. Being young and seeing the movie before seeing the stage production made me think he was good. And I stand by that statement.
Ramin all the way!
Im so sad that this wasn't in the OLCR.. :(
@Chrisrex83 the original's always the best
Ramin Karimloo is the best! Go Ramin!
@jelliclekat24 No kidding.
aww man michael crawford
Ramin, hands down. No question in my mind.
hard to pay attention to colm with the audience laughing, wish i knew what was going on
They’re probably laughing at the people on the stage looking around in confusion
In my opinion, Gary Mauer is the best in this scene
Michael, Ramin, and Earl own.
@Happyperson290 hahahahahahahahahaha
Ramin
My god, every single one of them after Michael overacts the thing so much that it nearly ruins the effect! Don't they understand the character at all?
+lancer525 look dude
We get it
you love Michael
we do too,
That doesn't mean you should diminish everybody else's talent.
Michael Crawford sounds like an evil super-villain. lol
Colm. Wilkinson. Sounds. Very. Abrupt. o.o" Well. At. Least. He. Stands. Out. And. The. Message. Is. Very. Clear.
Wilkinson and Panaro SUCK! I'd be very disapointed to go see Phantom and have either of them as the title role. Michael Crawford all the way, hands down, no contest!
Is there any doubt that Michael Crawford is the best? lol
No.
Plenty. John Owen-Jones is perfect
No Gerard Butler!
You earn a Disliked!
Why they all are AWFUL. JUST AWFUL...
