The 2020 is insane, engineering marvel, but I’m going to miss these old cars. I’m going to miss the cheap interiors, prehistoric suspension, manual transmissions, deep muscle car rumble, simplicity, and elegance of these old cars.
Glad you mentioned the comfort aspect. I had a GT350 but the ride quality was horrible. Very rough on public roads. I sold it and went back to a S197 GT500. And like others have said, I ditched the prop rod on the S197 and installed hood struts from Shelby.
I own a 2010 GT500 finished in Grabber Blue with white stripes. Picked it up it my local Ford dealer back in 2012. It was bought new there and they owner sold it back to the dealer with 14k miles on the clock to put his granddaughter thru college. I have had it 10 years and only have 22k miles on it. I removed the stock intake and added an SVT intake resonator eliminator. Love the car. Just perfect classic looks and deep exhaust sound. My triple yellow 2016 GT premium convertible feels like a luxury car compared to the 2010 Shelby.
Beautiful cars my friend! have a carbonized grey 2021 gt500 and I wish I still had my 2012 silver SVTPP gt500. Both phenomenal cars. Two totally different setups. Both are a blast
I have that identical 2012 shelby gt500. I did the intake and Roush exhaust. Sounds awesome. I'm trying to replace the stripes on my bumper as well. Hard to find. That 2020 shelby is just beautiful!
The older GT500 is only better in the fact that it has 3 pedals and you roll your own gears, and it sounds better more intimidating. The newer GT500 is better at everything else. It's quicker, faster, handles better, brakes better, drives better, reacts quicker, shifts quicker and revs higher and faster.
For the money the 12 is better imo. Of course the 20 performs better stock vs stock but it doesn't take much to make even modified 2020 numbers with the 12 with a simple blower swap, bolt ons and supporting mods. The older ones sounded better and had more raw, torque filled muscle car feeling. Put a 2650 vmp on the 12 to compete with the 2650 the 20 already comes with and power is much more comparable. The engine is technically "better" on the 20 but the main thing making the difference in power is the blower.
@@BC08 very true, but I think we can generally all agree that a faster car with better handling and more cooling, as well as updated interior is a bonus.
@@mikehawk120 I’m sure this will be a controversial take, but I’ve spent a bunch of time in both S550 and 10-up S197 interiors. I don’t believe the S550 was an upgrade, more of a side-grade.
Looking which one to go for... GT500 2007 , 2012 or Mustang GT 2020. Just can't decide.. all of the cars are different and just special in their own way..
The 2007 is great. They can make same power as a 12 with the same mods they're just more restricted stock. An intake tune 07 will make the same power as an intake tune 12 the 12 just picks up less power because the stock stuff was better. The 07 feels more raw and old school compared to a 12 and can usually be had for less money. For the money I think it makes the most sense. Also having the iron block is good if you window it replacements are cheap and easy to find. Not so with the 12 or the 20.
This. The main difference is the blower. Yes the 20s engine is better but the majority of the power difference is in the blower. The 20 comes with a 2650. Like you said put a 2650 tvs on the 12 and all the sudden power is much more comparable. They also make more torque and sound better. Way more fun to drive manual all day.

I like the sound of the 2012 better. Both are on my dream list. More comparisons please! Looking forward to more videos! Subscribed!
The 2012 is classic now holding the same value as new and 6 speed. i own a 2011 GT500 16000 miles love it
Yup same. I own a 2012 Gt500 18000 miles. Love it!
2012 sounds like a real muscle
I put 2 hood struts on my 2012 and took out the prop rod. A great upgrade. They are available on-line.

Nice!!
@Iconic Shelby thanks. I noticed there is a lot more heat from the motor inside the 2012. (Inside the cabin) do you notice this as well?
Thanks
@@MWard-hl6gg I actually do. I think it’s normal.
@Iconic Shelby thank you sir!

That 2020 shelby is just beautiful!
Well one cost $45K today the other $90K today if you can find one
Dream cars right there! 🐍
2020 looks like some crazy hyper coupe
I’d go with 2012. Manual trans, nice supercharger whine, and price.

Crazy that all these years later the 2012 still looks the best!
You call the 2012 wheels the 2014 wheels but they are 2012 wheels. Ford kept the same design after 2012.
I know the 20 is far superior. But I’d take the 12 first. I had an 11 so I’m def biased.

@@midnight347 agrred! I’m a stang guy and have an old 96gt running 522rwhp, livernois build. Older ones do sound better.
Depends on what you mean by superior, really.

Put a vmp on that 2012 and it will run with that new cobra.

On the 2020 how's the traction with all that power what gear do you hook in with those tires
What is traction? There is none lol.
Awesome Shelby’s
Im pretty sure those wheels on the 2012 are factory. My 12 has the same ones.
They are 2014 SVTPP style wheels from AM. 2014 SVTPP wheels look similar to the 2012 SVTPP wheels
The 2020 has waaaaaaay to many sensors
2012 it's a stick, why not!
Those stripes on the red Shelby are too skinny for me
The track package comes with them from factory.
1000whp?? Lmao bro where you getting your numbers at.
Should of just compared crank to crank stock to stock
What do you mean where am I getting my numbers, we put the car on the Dyno.
Ahhhh I know where you are lol
