The Kermit being so stiff is because it was a radio controlled puppet. If you watch some of the behind the scenes stuff on the Jim Henson show and from promo material for muppet vision from the 90s, you can see him messing with one.

It honestly makes me wonder where the Splash Mountain animatronics are going to go. I know a number of them will probably remain for the new "Bayou" scenes, but what about the rest? Curious...

@@jrpikulsky7579 Would you consider the Disney Archives to be a museum? I mean, it isn't. It's a well maintained warehouse. But that's probably where they'll live if they don't stay in the ride.
I'm presuming they'll either become a teaching aid or they'll just go to the boneyard the former is more likely
fun fact: the grandma wasn't the only carousel of progress animatronic mold used in the haunted mansion, the bride that was in the attic before constance [at magic kingdom only] had the same face mold as the daughter patricia. her face is also used as a renaissance musician in spaceship earth and a mom driving a car in world of motion. and of course all the presidents scattered around all over spaceship earth including one of them sharing a face mold with john from the carousel of progress
The dad is in spaceship earth as well, right beside her! It's a super cool Easter egg lol

Dinosaur has not aged well as a movie, and is kind of boring, but I feel bad that they probably broke down such a beautiful animatronic.

The clip of the haunted mansion at 8:20 is from an old Disneyland sing along I would watch on vcr when I was very young and there is nothing quite like that nostalgia.
Grim grinning ghosts!! I suddenly remembered the song and clip one day fairly recently and had to figure out what it was called.
I also used to love that tape- I had two with a couple different Halloween specials on each but I mainly remember the darkwing duck and rescue rangers ones.
I loved the preshow for Under New Management always made me laugh because there was a joke where one of the agent birds says his client is “a very big bird” to which the other one asks in shock that his client is “Big Bird” and for some reason I still find that joke funny to this day
Surprised you didn’t mention the original Harold on the matterhorn used to be a gorilla in the Jungle Cruise. Also Big AL from the country Bears from Disneyland was reused for Oogie boogie in haunted mansion for the holidays.
I didn't know that. I only knew about the original Harold being visible in Mission: Breakout's queue.

The reason Kermit is "moving so stiff" in the finale of Muppetvision is because Jim Henson was actually controlling him from a distance via a mechanism! I believe it was wireless as well, and would allow someone to make hand/muppet mouth movements as the now animatronic puppet talked on screen.
I believe it's main use in the film was the fully cgi character for most of the muppetvision show, their movements were controlled by a puppeter, I recall seeing a prototype tested by Henson himself.
This video made me miss Disney so much! Kermit looks strange bc sometimes they used robotics(animatronics? Not sure the best word for it lol) to move the puppets' mouths from afar!
The Hatbox Ghost's head is also seen on an animatronic in Phantom Manor. He's the ticket salesman in the little booth on the right side

@@Donillini Yeah, but as explained in the video, Hatty and Ezra share a face already, so the Ticketmaster technicaly has both ghost's faces.

The Hatbox Ghost is also in Paris - at the end of Phantom Manor at the start of the Thunder Mesa scene, you can see an animatronic selling tickets to the afterlife. He looks exactly the same.
Uh Oha is silent and still now because she was seriously damaged in the fire due to severe water damage from the sprinklers.

me: *starts clapping just because the best Disney ride ever was mentioned*... lets not mention that the one time i rode it i was a terrified little 7 year old and closed my eyes for half of it.... or that i love it solely because Dallin has convinced me of how great it is...
Honestly, it really is among the greatest Disney rides ever made. 50+ years later, every effect still holds up, the atmosphere and immersion are still perfect, the narration alone is iconic as hell, even the ride vehicles that've been there since day one are all still running so smoothly.
Can't belive you didn't mention the entirety of Superstar Limo --> Monster's Inc animatronics

I have a theory that the bananas found in kitchen kabaret became the get-the -point sisters because there where three bananas and then in food rocks three chocolate bars and both where in the same basket.

It wouldve made more sense to replace the sculpture outside of Dinosaur with the Aladar animatronic. Not only would it attract people to the ride, but also likely bring more attention to the movies and make a great photo-op. They missed a good opportunity not to waste an expensive animatronic there.
You can also find the Hatbox ghost/Ezra at Phantom Manor ! They used his headmold for the ticket salesman at Phantom Canyon! And they also call him Ezra!
Yeah the Kermit puppet at the end was radio controlled. Usually the were made for far away shots not close ups. With Kermit having a small head room and having his mechanics in there too, that’s why his head is jerky.
That evil Mickey tho. He clearly weilds a Keyblade of Darkness

I'd say recycling the animatronic for a statue that is practically identical sounds more probable than making it look so different.
Uh Oha used to give me MAJOR NIGHTMARES when I was a kid. I was so excited to see Yago and Zazu and we sat in the front row, and when she came out I cried and never wanted to do Tiki Room there again until I was old enough to not be scared anymore 😂

Actually, I don't know if this had been answered: DCA did receive a few of the Soldier puppets in their Muppet Vision 3D pre-show queue prior to the Frozen sing along referbishment. I can varify that mainly because I attended the second gate during an Annual Passholder Preview day on February 8th 2001.

Here’s what I thought of the 3 I bought-
Pineapple Whip: smells the best/most accurate I think (would buy again)
Japan: supposed to smell like epcot’s japan? I dont know, smells like something?
France: This one does smell like Frances pavilion I guess. Great aroma, (would buy again)

I always ride haunted mansion right before the park closes and solo its been my personal tradition every visit
Kermit at the end of Muppet Vision is controlled off camera by Jim Henson using a “Waldo” which is a remote manipulator. Kermit is therefore a weird little animatronic Kermit controlled by that remote “Waldo”. His head looks weird because Kermit’s head is all flexible fabric and it’s structure is built by the puppeteer raising his middle finger into a curve higher than the rest of his hand/fingers. Because there is no hand in that Kermit, they had to stuff it so it looks oddly round

It’s kind of sad to see the old Tikki Room lady up there - she used to be so lifelike, and now she only lights up, being held up there. I wish she could still move, maybe just when drinks are ordered

In the Disneyland resort jungle cruise, there’s another recycled animatronic. There used to be a elephant at the exit of tarzans treehouse and he would squirt water. I remember passing by and he was gone. Then when jungle cruise got a refurbishment with the piranhas, you can see that elephant in the elephant pool squirting water at a croc. They look identical
