With everything getting closed down for undisclosed amounts of time, they could use the time to repair some of these things. *cough...yeti...cough*
Emily Fisher they literally can’t fix the yeti. It’s like the Matterhorn tracks. They’d have to pretty much demolish the whole thing and then build it from the ground up.
Emily Fisher Adding onto the reply above. Fixing the Yeti would cut into their budget for other on going projects Disney is working on.
Allegedly they laid out plans to finally fix it a few years ago since Pandora is open now so that will pull guests away from Everest. Now that they're closed for the foreseeable future they might just knock it out now.
Problem with the shutdown of the parks is no employees are allowed to be there for at least 2 weeks to work on repairs and like the DLR that only gives a few days without guests to cram in repairs which is if the weather allows them to do the repairs
murderouscow Realistically theres no way they would be able to fix it while Disney is closed. It takes years to create and program a Disney ride.
That very illegal video of the yeti freaked me out, I can't understand how anyone could get that close to something that large and scary looking, I give that person props for being brave enough to touch it
The very illegal video probably got him very much banned from all six resorts, but it was still crazy to see
@@Sophia-pq6xj It was matt sonswa hes ben banned from all resorts more than twice now

Wow. Wow!
So... you Rohde it?

I remember seeing the Yeti animatronic back when it was still running. While it was a blink and you'll miss it sort of moment, it was still terrifying and a sight to behold. Ashamed that it broke down.
@bigevilworldwide1 Heard about that. Sorry, bad wording on my part.
I was lucky enough to have ridden the ride in its early years while the animatronic was still running.
Such an amazing creature that is sadly so still now...

Can you do a list of stolen Disney items? Like give the items history and then say when they went missing.
I remember hearing rumors about things getting stolen from Snow White and its a small world here in California often
@@kirbyfan4 my dad said as a teenager/ his early twenties people (including him) would exit the ride vehicle and steal the apple and give it to their dates as sort of a gift. I believe that apple is a hologram now?
Hey Oven Us yup that is true and i wonder who took the apples and if they still have them
Well it’s closed now but the great movie ride had some valuable memorabilia’s that got stolen like John Wayne’s actual belt buckle and James Carney’s tux that were donated by their families. I guess it’s not important now since the ride no longer exist but that’s still a shame that pieces of movie history is lost forever.

Something about the ice machine has such a mysterious allure to me. Maybe its the fact that the effect was only on for a few months so very few witnessed it? Maybe its the fact that the rusted corpse of the apparatus itself was never removed and thus is hidden above you in the ceiling as you enter, like a vengeful ghost. Either way I always find myself unconciously looking for the ice-chute hole when you turn that corner!
I can't ever find the hole, there was one time when the lights got turned on while we entered the temple but I still couldn't spot it.
@@october1634 I wonder if maybe instead of removing it, they opted to seal it somehow instead
I have seen the trap door before a couple times. I recommend if you want to see them is to watch videos where they are pointed out and then look in the same area when you ride it

literally look at their name
I miss the three doors on the Indiana Jones ride. I always wanted to go through the “purple” door. I started to think that maybe I was wrong about it since it’s been years since you could go through the different ones. I was also disappointed that the stars on the ceiling of the third door are gone now.
Parlor Ghost do you mean once you’re in the doors? I was there on Monday and rode multiple times as it’s my favorite attraction. The stars are there!
Oh really?! I haven’t been in over a year. Last I rode the stars weren’t there. I’m glad they’re back.
I haven't been to Disneyland since 2014 but I could've sworn we used the door on the left when entering
The purple door was my favorite. I miss the three door entrances as well.
Only one door opens on the Indiana Jones Ride
Thank you so much for explaining the change to the Indiana Jones ride. I first went Disneyland in 1996, and (aside from waiting in line over 2 hours for Indiana Jones), I remember the "reveal" each time we went on, as we would finally see which door our ride vehicle was going through. I started to think it was a false memory though, because hardly anyone I know remembers it being that way.
I too was beginning to think I was losing my mind and making it up! My brother informed me that it changed but never knew why until now. I loved this part of the ride and really miss it.
I remember after the turn from Mara the hall length was different depending on which door you went through before reaching Indiana Jones holding the door and the fact when you looked at the floor you could see 3 sets of tracks leading to the doors
I heard that with the latest refurb of the Haunted Mansion, the broken glass panel is being replaced. Now, personally, I doubt that it really is happening, but it is something that Fresh Baked mentioned a week or so ago.
Mike S I could swear they fixed it. I don’t remember seeing it last year
@@MrEmerys89 Nope. Never got fixed. The explanation has always been that because the glass panels are so large, they would have to remove a section of the roof to slide it out. I'm sure that with this refurb, we would have noticed if the roof was gone or if there was a giant glass panel awaiting installation. As for it having been done before, again, nope. I saw it back in January when it was still open just prior to refurbishment.
I doubt they’re fixing it tbh as it’s a huge cost for minimal return. It’s like how Indiana Jones no longer has the motor working in the queue outside. Just not worth the price to fix it. Or in Star Tours and the luggage check droid. The screen on that has been off for months.

Might I also add onto this list the broken animatronics and effects inside of Dinosaur, formerly Countdown to Extinction, some left in plain, unhidden sight. Also the falling ceiling spikes (held up by a bamboo pole) in the queue of Indiana Jones as well.
MoonlitLycan the Bamboo pole still works, but it’s really hard to activate
The bamboo is on a timer or something. It only works every so often
Hi furry
I think they replaced them because when I went last time there weren’t any broken ones in dinosaur
I think the spikes fell when you stepped on a diamond shaped plate, or at least that's what I've heard. They've since then cemented the plate inplace.
I like how everyone is campaigning for Disney to fix the yeti while the parks are closed for the coronavirus.
Hey, they have plenty of downtime now to do it lol
@@melaniegrooms1473 but no money. So many rides are breaking down due to lack of funds
@@paulrasmussen8953 Uh, they have plenty of money but don't want to pay to fix them. If they can buy out everyone, are able to pump out movie after movie and create a streaming service, they are not broke.

The hippos in WDW's Jungle Cruise!!! Some of them are actually sunk down in the water and no longer come up. Nowadays you literally just pass them by without seeing most of them. Too sad and too noticeable :(

@@someguy9778 They still have the guns, but now they shoot up in the air "to scare them off".

"Rubble Sounds" needs to be a bumper sticker.
Dons my best Karnac impression:
"Rubble Sounds - What Barney and Betty make during the heat of passion."
Astounding!
Or a band name
I saw the rubble effect work twice during cast member previews of the Indy ride. The ice in the rubble machine was dyed with tea water to look solid. Not only did the machine rust, but the 18 second effect demand on it resulted in most of the ice looking like brown slush rather than broken chunks of stone. The machine was shut down and left on top of the show building for years to continue rusting. I think it was eventually removed. Nice vid, sir :)
"Disney does what Disney do." Has to be the best thing ever said about Disney, lol.
I feel like I have memories of seeing Yeti in A mode, but I know I didn't go to DisneyWorld for the first time until the 2010s. I guess that shows how effective a simple strobe can be! I do hope it can be fixed some day, I love that ride
Also I love your videos Offhand :)
The burning settler’s cabin gets NO MENTION! It was an awesome effect
I have a photo of it from 1973
I got to see the moving Yeti back in 2006. It was truly awesome and an effect I hope they actually fix someday.
The moving walls was moved by cables, then the cables snapped. The company that built the moving walls and cables that made the walls moved went out of business and Disney would have to be the one who had to repair it and repairing it would be very expensive. So they thought it would be cheaper if they abandoned it and let special affects do it for them.
We were at Disneyland last week, and I couldn’t help feeling something was missing when we did Indiana Jones. Thanks for clearing the mystery!
i did see the yeti when he DID move. and the next times my family went we were so confused cuz we thought it moved before. after a google search, we were met with disco yeti🤣
At 0:50 according to a tweet from Disney last year it’s supposed make a come back with the the new Epcot
Ok good that's what I thought too.
as someone (a UK resident at that!) fortunate enough to see the yeti in motion it makes me so sad that it can’t run anymore.... it truly was INSANE and SCARY and felt so massive and loud and real and by far the best animatronic ever (in my opinion) - I was 13 at the time and it blew my tiny British mind. It really breaks my heart that not every disney fan will be able to experience it (at least for now).
I feel your pain. Nothing can explain loving Disneyland as a child, and then becoming and Imagineer, and understanding the broken process of getting anything existing in the parks improved. I can't go to Disneyland now, without seeing all of the things that are broken, I.E. Chipping paint, burned out light bulbs, or much bigger things. It's excruciating.
I remember the advertisements for the yeti ride way back in the day! I had forgotten about it before now, but I remember seeing those video clips on Discovery Channel. The memories dredged up from seeing those clips again was like experiencing an ancient Eldritch creature rising from the depths.
Fans: Fix the yeti
Joe: How bout no. Then he waddled away, waddle waddle
To the very next day
bum bum bum bum ba badum
The ice cube falling boulders effect sounds impractical to begin with.
Wow! Only went to Disney once in my life and got to see the working Yeti, it scared the hell out of me. Really interesting to learn that after all these years it has worked for such a short time! It was really impressive, it's a shame
I remember the different doors in Indiana! It was interesting to hear how it worked. Great video.
Barker Bird didn't break, they took it out because crowds were collecting in front to watch it which created a huge traffic jam in the area.
I still remember getting to see the Yeti actually move once upon a time, so incredibly long ago... It was huge and impressive. I'm at least happy that I got to witness it once. (':
...Maybe Disney will fix the yeti with some of that Avatar money they'll be making soon. (;
If the green screen were sideways, it’d be a nice head shot for the camera lol. Great vid and congrats on the marriage!!! 🥰
Dallin did!
13:35 I hate seeing Stitch’s animatronic like that. It breaks my heart 😔💔
Watch the enchanted tiki room aloha e komo mai. It's in Japanese but someone did put subtitles on it. You'll be very happy.
Also, the mirrors on the Indiana Jones Adventure were there to allow guests to see the vehicle in front of them (without looking directly into the eyes of Mara), ostensibly to observe the "gift" those preceding guests got which, in theory, would differ from the one they were about to be granted.
Have you watched the Imagineering docu-series on Disney+ ? I just started watching it and i love it. It shows proof of certain "myths" that are actually true at the Disney parks
Yes! It's honestly such a great documentary. As soon as my bf and I got Disney+ it was one of the first things we started watching!
@@Tina_95 i love it so much! Im sad theres only 6 episodes though
Ashley Dyer it’s awesome
Love the fact you use the term "E ticket attractions" reminds me of the 1970s when I was a kid visiting Disneyland. 👍
What's cool is that "E-ticket" has become common theme park parlance, even in non-Disney parks. That's the effect that Disney has had on the industry.
they could just replace the ice with actual rubble or clumps of dried glue, and increase the time it takes for mara's beam to shoot while being linked to the falling particles
if it's possible that any cast members or imagineers are watching this, talk to the higher-ups about my idea, for real
I love the indiana jones ride! Almost tied with rise of the resistance as my favorite ride. Really wish indiana jones ride got a refurbishment adding back old effects and maybe even adding in some new ones. I know in one of the Disney's outside of the U.S. has a very cool fireball effect. But, I think it would be awesome if it got a refurbishment because it already is a 11/10 ride.
"...and that guy is a jerk." From what I've read, that guy is a hero, as the canoe and Tiki were being stored in a boneyard, and Disney had plans on just throwing them away. When this was discovered, that unnamed cast member rescued the Tiki. The canoe was then thrown away as intended. Even if we never publicly see her again, at least wherever she is, is better than being at the bottom of a California dump.
Why did the “rocks” need to be made of ice? If they’d been little grey foam “rocks”, couldn’t the machinery cycle it around without rusting? Also, you wouldn’t even need the ice maker, so one less thing to worry about.
With foam rocks it would be more difficult to collect because ice can just melt, although not fast enough
Universal used to have rocks falling on the studio tour like that and they can be unpredictable while falling which a ride like Indiana Jones would be needing to shut down hourly to re-gather all the runway rocks and that wouldn't be efficient to keep the line moving. Ice on the other hand melts so a heated area where it lands along with a drain makes for a quick cleanup but a ice machine wouldn't rust within a few months so clearly that was just a excuse to not have to make the ice rocks anymore.
Jenny & Craig Adventures
And foam rocks have a different weight than actual rocks. Remember, you’re trying to replicate actual rocks - they just couldn’t use actual rocks. Ice was the next best thing.
were gonna need a part two
“It’s one you’re probably very familiar with too”
Nah man, never been to any Disney location other than the Disney store inside of my local mall🤣
Hi! On my way to WDW while watching this!
Uploader I don't know if you read these but thank you so much for these videos. I think these kind of obscure interesting vid docs are the backbone of youtube. We appreciate you!
I remember seeing the Yeti in A Mode back in 2006 when my family went to DisneyWorld for vacation, we only rode it once but the movement of that Yeti was litterally burned into my skull since then
There was a report of Avenger's Campus featuring a People Mover esque aspect to the new Web Slinger Spiderman Attraction, the ride is suppose to give you a tour of the campus while you're on it. I remember reading something about Indiana Jones getting a major renovation soon? Do you think they will fix some things that you mentioned?
In the 80s and 90s I had subscriptions of the Disney Magazine, and they advertised the new rides and described all the exciting effects. I've never been there myself to go on these rides (I live in Germany and get health problems when travelling long distances), but it's sad, that they are not as cool as they used to be when they first opened.
I remember watching that special about the yeti when I was a kid and I couldn't wait to see it but by the time I got to go, the yeti was already broken
Technically, since the yeti has no tail, has human like features and has more hominid like movements and physical features, yeti is an ape not a monkey
I remember the tiki from when I was a kid, I wasn't even aware it had been removed. And now I am really sad someone stole it.
Any day's a good day when OffhandDisney uploads.
How many people were distracted by that guy’s earring?
Jennifer Garcia his ears are so droopy
Yet cast members aren’t allowed to have any tattoos or piercings whatsoever. Smh.
Honey Bea Hey... he earned that one extravagant earring
What about the entirety of Journey Into Imagination? Can't forget about that.
(Thank you Micheal Eisner)😡😡😡
The largest factor was Kodak (the pavilion sponsor at the time) saying it needed to be changed when it was, not Eisner.

I'd love to see how much of the apparatus for the wave machine at Disney World is still sitting under the water.
i would literally poop myself if i went on the yeti ride that’s the actual scariest thing i’ve seen
I remember standing in line for Indiana Jones its opening year, the line wrapped all the way out to Main Street. My sister and I diligently followed the decoder card and deciphered the symbols in line... just to get an advertisement for AT&T. It was slightly disappointing, but one of our family favorite movies was "A Christmas Story" and it was such a drink your Ovaltine moment we really couldn't dislike it that much. Pretty sure I still have the card they gave out somewhere, I need to find that.
Aw man, I rode Expedition Everest in 2007, I guess that was pretty soon after the Yeti broke. I didn't even know it was supposed to move.
Long story but a funny one:
The first time I went on Everest in 2012, I was so scared to see the yeti since I had seen it in Fetch With Ruff Ruffman, I actually locked my arm around the bar and put my face in my mom’s lap (yes, for the entire second half of the ride. You could not see me on the picture.) My mom later said that she didn’t see the yeti, just it’s red eyes and the footage of the ride we saw was the same. I went back to Disney in 2019 and decided to keep my head up as I was re-riding it. But I kept my eyes-closed (because anxiety, right). Then, I opened my eyes JUST as we passed under the yeti and I was like- “Oh no.” because a friend of mine is terrified of massively large animals, especially the yeti. My mom and I did not realize the animatronic was ACTUALLY THERE (luckily, my friend didn’t see). But heck, I didn’t know the yeti was broken so they did a good job at fooling me.
I went to Disneyland in late 2021, Indiana Jones was so broken, less lighting effects and the snakes on the walls were stationary which I could deal with but when the lights didn’t come up in the Boulder scene and we sat there in the dark, yeah that was kinda sad. I told a cast member afterwards and they were like “yeah it’s been like that for a bit”
It’s funny you mention the spider web gunshot in the Haunted Mansion, because there’s rumors that they are actually replacing the glass with the current renovation.
It sucks when things are Broken and can't be fixed, this Film says it all with Interesting facts
Was at both of these rides opening day... it is both amazing and sad how quickly effects started disappearing from both the rides and the queues within months of opening.
Glad to see you back offhand Disney. Thank you so much for another video.

I’m obsessed with the People Mover also! I wish they would bring it back, and it’s really my fave ride at MK
Thanks for the very interesting video! I would love to hear about more of the no longer working effects on Indiana Jones. In particular I'm very curious about the stones with diamond carvings in the queue. I heard that those did something at launch?
I'm a simple person.. I see Uti, I click
(no seriously I love Uti so much)
As a Kindgom Keepers fan, I just realized that the yeti may not be running because a certain dark Disney entity no longer inhabits his form. 😂 I can’t believe it took me this long to make that connection. 😂
That moment you realize the person that said “ we will fix the yeti “ was the same person that featured in your online imagineering in a box.... seriously I know it’s him
Ahh yeyy bringing back the Magic Candle Company!! I've wanted their candles for the longest time after seeing them in your videos but (again) couldnt remember their name
Thanks for getting me through another work day listening to your vids!
I have to say this. When me and my brother originally found you, we watched your video on Beastly Kingdom and we called you the spooky dragon man!😂
Ahh that indy ride one was informative. I went on it recently and I was like “wait I thought we were able to go through any of the doors” I didn’t know it was just broken
They can actually switch which door but it's like they change it in the middle of the might during maintenance because since they stopped the random door swapping I have been through other doors but repeat rides the same day would be same door all day. It could have been they are working on getting it back up and running but middle door is default and they had planned to do a major overhaul on the ride this year during the refurbishment to make it look new again.
you freaked me out and I thought Expedition Everest was closed, I didn't know abandoned thing could still be on the ride XD
I love your channel it’s better than The Imagineering story thank you for all your knowledge and Disney content I love learning more and more and more about Disney
With Indiana Jones I thought I was crazy. I thought I rememebered it being that way and after the Reno, they took it out. I also remember feeling the bugs crawling across my feet in the bug room. Hmm...

Very Awesome and ofcourse I Love Tikis including the Disneyland Tiki Room, thank you for Uploading this, I'm sorry about your Busted Hatbox Ghost from Haunted Mansion, that really sucks, But Hopefully you will get another one!
I WAS JUST about to go on twitter to ask if you have that haunted mansion CD because I got it the other day and I am OBSESSED
I don't know if anyone had noticed but they have removed all the lava effects at the bottom of the bridge in the indiana jones ride and I feel like they really made a difference as far as the atmosphere in that room :(
I like your video dynamic. Its different. thank you I will be subscribing
Yeah I agree and it is pretty disappointing to see the people mover or the yeti well, abandoned but I think there is hope!
* first 3 seconds * I honestly though he was gonna say after he fell,” it seems as though I have fallen for you” Also I love how he just trails off in the beginning.
When you said that the yeti had slobber I was like “ewwwww” then I had a thought of what it would look like.😩🤢
River County was demolished. Club cool was closed because new exciting attractions are coming.

Can you do a whole video covering the broken effects of Indiana Jones, I love to hear what’s broken with the attraction and stuff
for real! with how much stuff breaks on indy there is enough material to have a whole video dedicated to just that 😂
I remember Uti on the canoe. I don’t remember the bird but, they might of removed it because it didn’t work anymore.
No they removed it because it worked to well, caused traffic jams
