My wife’s cousin was an imagineer and Frozen Ever After was his first ride to build. He put so much work into it and is very proud of it even though the ones above him tied his hands on a lot of things which is why it’s a reskin of the original ride but he did want to keep some parts of maelstrom for those like him who remember and love the old ride. He told me about how close they ran on finishing when they were still stamping the cobblestone texture in the concrete floor in the que as people people were lined up on opening day. There was a lot of heat coming from all the accelerant to cure the concrete in time for feet to be on it lol.
Also the Mickey solar panel on the way to magic kingdom and the Mickey pond where the speedway used to be by Hollywood studios.

One other little thing about Mt. Prometheus at Disney Sea... the queue line for Journey to the Center of the Earth winds through it, and you can see all kinds of neat things in the rock walls if you look. Also... because the line is long there are water fountains in it, but at one point there's a fountain that's been engulfed by spilling lava so you can't use it! (There's another one just down the way, though.)

That little scripture in the Norway pavilion is NOT the only Maelstrom relic. The entire Norway pavilion is hugely themed to Maelstrom as it was when Maelstrom was around. I’ve noticed that the only change to the Norway pacific when Frozen came in was the ride itself and the gift shop. Everything else is still viking and trolls.

That is a very nice little Easter egg they put down for those who actually got to experience maelstrom. However for those of younger generations like me, who grew up in a very norwegian American family. I am very passionate about doing things traditionally. And it makes me very sad that I will never be able to experience the traditional norwegian trolls they had in maelstrom or the ride itself. 😩 And for those of you who say there are still trolls in the frozen ride. Those are not norwegian trolls. They are heavily American-ized and while they are fun for American children and families who don't know traditional trolls it takes away the true experience of something new and different.
